When are Sermons Given?
In MLT congregations sermons are delivered every morning on Yom Shabbat (the Sabbath Day) which concludes the morning Assembly and also on High Sabbaths during Yahweh's Moedim. Sermons traditionally are from 30-60 minutes long. Some MLT Congregations may give two sermons, the shorter of the two being given by the Pastress, a local Eldress or Deaconess or other minister.

The Purpose, Location, Content and Goal of Sermons
The most famous sermon in the Bible is without doubt what has come to be called the Sermon on the Mount (Mt.5:1) or (in the case of a shorter version given at another time in Luke) the Sermon on the Plain (Lk.6:17). It was delivered outdoors by the Master Yah'shua (Mt.5-7; Lk.6:20-49) and serves as a model for all sermons much as the Lord's Prayer serves as a model for all prayers. Other discourses were delivered in homes or local meeting places (assemblies). It's goal is to encourage ethical reformation in the people of the covenant, Israel.

Who are Sermons for?
Sermons are therefore principally directed to citizens of the Kingdom or disciples, namely those under the discipline or rule or Torah whom He refers to as "the salt of the earth" (Mt.5:13). The exalted nature of the Sermon as a whole can only mean that it was designed for those who had deserted paganism for life in the Kingdom of Messianic Israel. Yet at the close of these sermon accounts (Mt.7:28-29; Lk.7:1) we learn of the presence of others who were not disciples or followers. The occasional utterances such as the "woes" of Luke 6:24-26 appear to be 'asides' to those not of the Kingdom who were listening and who needed such admonition.

Sermons are therefore directed firstly, to disciples or believers (members); secondly, committed investigators or searchers after truth (catechumens); and thirdly, the undecided and possibly, on occasion, even to adversaries, all of whom must have attended Yah'shua's gatherings.
