"[Yahweh's] Name is holy; from one generation to another. He shows mercy to those who honour Him. He has stretched out His mighty arm and scattered the proud with all their plans. He has brought down mighty kings from their thrones and lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away with empty hands. He has kept the promises He made to our ancestors, and has come to the help of His servant Israel. He has remembered to show mercy to Abraham and to all his descendants forever!" (Luke 1:49b-55, TEV).
I begin my address to you this morning with some of the words of the Magnificat, a prayer of praise offered by Yah'shua's mother, Mary, after the angel Gabriel had announced her imminent pregnancy by supernatural means and had gone to visit her cousin Elizabeth. That Mary was filled with the Ruach haQodesh when she uttered these words there can be no doubt. That she was a chosen vessel for the Ruach there can be no doubt. That she was filled with the spirit of prophecy there can be no doubt. What, then, had Mary done to 'earn' this special privilege to be the mother of the Messiah? Absolutely nothing at all. Her only qualification was that she loved Yahweh with all her heart, obeyed the Torah, and kept her heart pure, something which any woman of Israel in those days could have done if they had chosen to. So what distinguished Mary from all the rest? I would like to suggest that the answer is to be found in something both beautiful as well as terrifying: the power of choice.
It would of course be both totally impossible as well as morally wrong for me to look at anyone and pass judgement on their success or failure to make choices in their life. For one thing, only Yahweh knows the complexities and depths of our inner being sufficiently to be able to judge the merits and merits of each and every choice we have made in our lives. It simply isn't possible, given the various handicaps and circumstances, all of which in Yahweh's scheme have a meaning in some way or another, for a human being to make a continuous sequence of correct choices. Only one man has ever done that and no one else will ever follow in His footsteps, and that person was Yah'shua the Messiah. Part of the reason, I suspect, that Yahweh is so patient and long-suffering with us is because He knows this, and it is therefore that He is so full of compassion, grace and mercy. We, in our finiteness, are, for the most part, compelled to deal with - and analyse - decisions on a moment-for-moment basis, because we are caught up in the stream of time which more or less forces us into this default mode. It is only when we internally 'rise above time', as it were, that we are able to momentarily detach from the events around us and the time matrix in which they are driven, and can reflect back on various sets of events, circumstances and choices and try to make sense of them. And we obviously cannot do this all the time otherwise we would stop interacting meaningfully with the world around us. We are compelled by the 'medium ' - time - to focus on moment for moment things. And yet we cannot just live in the stream of time - there must be pauses each day, and certainly one day a week on the Sabbath, to do as King David did:
"I meditate on Your precepts and consider Your ways" (Ps.119:15, NIV).
I have chosen Mary the mother of Yah'shua as the primary subject of my sermon today because there are some things in her life which I think are important for us, as the allegorical Bride of Yah'shua - both men and women, to imitate. We are agreed that this Judahite woman was a pure vessel - loving, devoted, faithful, chaste and pure. A lot has been written about her, much of its pious myth, especially by Catholics and others who have idolatrously deified her, and yet precious little is to be found about her in the Gospels. Our information about her is largely confined to the infancy narratives of Matthew and Luke where we learn of the angelic annunciation, her betrothal to Joseph the Carpenter living in Nazareth in the Galilee who, by tradition, was believed to be considerably older than she was. We learn of the supernatural conception of her firstborn child, of His subsequent birth in Bethlehem and their return to Nazareth after the birth. Matthew alone mentions the flight into Egypt and of Herod's murderous reaction to the news of His advent. Luke records Mary's meeting with Elizabeth. Later Luke, who gives us a glimpse into Yah'shua's childhood, records the typically anxious words of His mother at the discovery that He is missing from their entourage, and of Yah'shua's famous retort: "Did you not know that I had to be in My Father's house?" (Luke 2:49, NASU).
The remaining references to Mary in the Gospels are few and relatively uninformative. She was present at the marriage at Cana (Jn.2:1ff) where Yah'shua did His first miracle, and was rebuked, as she was on one other occasion, for placing family relationship above spiritual fidelity (Lk.2:35; cp. 11:27ff). And finally, we meet her at the foot of the cross (Jn.19:25) where she is entrusted to the care of the apostle John (vv.26-27). She appears only one more time in the Acts of the Apostles where she and the disciples are found in prayer devotions (Act.1:14).
In this very brief sketch of the mother our Messiah we are given a most interesting insight into our own calling as members of the Messianic Bride. The life of Mary is surely a model of a true believer. And what does that life in its essence consist of? Our life consists of what we birth and nurture. In this life we have the awesome power of choice to birth and nurture what Yahweh has given to us or we can birth and nurture what Satan would have us receive from him. And for both we can use the gifts that we have - the good ones from Yahweh given us at birth, and/or the evil ones given through demonic power.
So my question is this: what have you spiritually birthed in your life? And what has it grown up into? What is your 'life child'? What is the fruit of your life so far?
A couple of days ago I was watching a documentary film about the Bohemian Grove, a secret occult society based in California to which all the world's elite politicians, bankers and media men belong to. There, at midsummer every year, they sacrificially offer either in effigy or in real life, in a pagan ceremony, a child (no one knows for sure) in fire. Here, for two weeks, they discuss how they will stage-manage world events to fulfil their goal of creating a New World Order and a One World Religion. Here are men, most of whom are very talented, prostituting their gifts in the service of Satan. They are a part of a conspiracy to reconstruct the nations, by non-democratic means, into a global slave state built on a foundation of lies. This and other related societies have been nurturing this 'child' for generations, a 'child' birthed years ago in the minds of unregenerate men in rebellion against the Creator. And whilst you and I may not - and I sincerely hope not - be a part of this grotesque Babylonian system, we may unconsciously be supporting it with the little 'spiritual children' we are birthing in our own little worlds. For whatever is not born of purity must of necessity be born of impurity.
What, then, are your life goals? To what are you striving? If you are a believer, is Yahweh one of many goals in your life, or is He subtended to other goals like family, career, entertainment, and so forth? And whilst every man and woman needs, and should pursue, family life, a means of generating income, and have time for relaxation and enjoyment, are these things inextricably bound up into the spiritual life or is the spiritual life at best something that runs alongside them, or at worst a mere appendage? As we grow in our relationship with Yah'shua, we can often be surprised and revolted how we have compromised with the world system and begun to receive its mark of identity.
There are no simple answers to these questions because we are addressing a very large area of human existence and endeavour. However, to give you a glimpse of the process which should at least be in motion in the life of the believer, let's take a look at an interesting passage in the Book of Revelation:
"Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of Elohim and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of Elohim and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Yahweh-Elohim will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever" (Rev.22:1-5, NIV).
The most obvious sign of one who is a part of this reality is fruitfulness. In this environment - whether a future heavenly one, or present reality within - there are twelve crops of fruit every year, and all coming from the same Tree - the Tree of Life, which is Yah'shua Himself. A life in Yah'shua inevitably means fruitfulness, and not in just one area of life, but in twelve, that is, all. Each month of the year - and I conclude that this happens at Rosh Chodesh or New Moon, since this is the only monthly moed or ordinance we have (the time, you will remember, along with the weekly Sabbath, when traditionally Israelites would consult the prophets) - a fruit becomes available for us to eat if we have been walking uprightly in Torah with Yah'shua as the Master of our hearts. This one tree has a different crop every month. What does this mean? And what is the significance of the number 12 in this context?
The number 12 biblically symbolises governmental perfection or rule. It consists of the number three which denotes divine perfection, and 4 which represents either new beginnings (3+1) or the physical creation itself, with its 4 compass points. Multiplied together, they give 12. The number 12 therefore represents Yahweh's rule over His Creation and specifically us His creatures. A person who is eating of these 12 annual fruits is therefore one who is totally subjected to Yahweh as Sovereign King outwardly in deeds (4) as well as inwardly in spirit (3). People have often asked me why it is that they often have certain problems at different times of the year. One woman told me that she would go through terrible spiritual struggles every spring: and whilst such could well be a trigger of a memory of something that occurred in the spring, it may also have other reasons. It may well be that some part of our life, represented by that month, has not yet been surrendered to Yahweh.
I think a lot of us wake up in the morning with many questions both for ourselves and others. I know for myself I ask: "What is the order of today? What is it that Yahweh wants me to do? How shall I obtain His favour and pleasure in order to accomplish these things, and obtain the wings of love with which to bless those around me?" Then I will pray: "O Yahweh, enter my heart to purify; make it a vessel for your love. Bless my family this day, be their covering and their defence, and light their path. Unwrap my torch, let my feet be shod to bring good tidings (Is.52:7). Let there be soundness from the soles of my feet to the top of my head - not injury, nor affliction, nor rebellion, no wounds, no bruises, no open sores, but cleansing and bandaging and soothing with the oil of the Ruach (Is.1:6)". Though I have no fixed prayers for the morning, they may well contain elements such as these.
If you and I are to birth something good for Yahweh, and nurture it and bring it to maturity - whether it be the literal birthing and raising of children, the relationships we establish with people for this day, or something broader like this ministry - then we need to take a look at what Mary did, because she most certainly was successful in what she accomplished. Yes, she made mistakes. Yes, she got ahead of herself on a couple of occasions at least and got her loyalties and priorities wrong, however well-meaning, as we all do. Yet when corrected by her Son she did not object or protest, did she? She knew better, just as David did when Yahweh struck Uzza down and he was upset. She was teachable.
If we birth something corrupt, then Yahweh can do two things with it: He can either bring it to nothing and destroy that work, or He can salvage a part of it and replant it elsewhere as He explained to the prophet Ezekiel:
"This is what Yahweh-Elohim says: 'I myself will take a shoot from the very top of a cedar and plant it; I will break off a tender sprig from its topmost shoots and plant it on a high and lofty mountain. On the mountain heights of Israel I will plant it; it will produce branches and bear fruit and become a splendid cedar. Birds of every kind will nest in it; they will find shelter in the shade of its branches. All the trees of the field will know that I Yahweh bring down the tall tree and make the low tree grow tall. I dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish. I Yahweh have spoken, and I will do it'" (Ezek.17:22-24, NIV).
It is amazing what Yahweh can do with our failure even when we think we are beyond redemption. It takes but a tiny cutting, a little shoot, which has not become corrupted. He can use anything that is pure within you and make it fruitful. He may need to strip 99% of you bare but so long as there is 1% purity, it can be used to His glory. However, you can't sit idly by and expect Him to do everything. You have to do your part. Take the German nation. It lay in ruins in 1945. There was nothing left, just a heap of rubble. But they had a goal, a resolve, and sacrificed. They rebuilt their country from nothing. When a soul realises it's depravity and failure, and resolves to rebuild with the little good that is there, and stays single-minded to the task, then miracles can happen. Follow the German example.
If Yah'shua can turn corrupt men and women wallowing in sin into vessels of glory just by their trusting in them and responding positively to their salvation by living the life He has ordained, then no one is beyond helping. Everyone can be saved, be made pure, and become useful and productive for the Kingdom so long as they exercise the POWER OF CHOICE! That's all they have to do. So what, then, is it that stops people from choosing?
Three years ago I woke up one morning feeling rather unwell and petitioned Yahweh for strength and better health. As I was in prayer, I saw a vision of what I supposed was a demon lying down just as I was on my bed. It reminded me of a Singaporean or Chinese dragon in its appearance. I was seeing its head close-up. It's eyes were black and piercing - and very angry. As I prayed, beings of light with what looked liked wings descended and entered the eyes until they disappeared, and at length the demon disappeared also. The beings resembled doves though they had no distinctive outline and seemed to be made of pure energy of some sort. They pulsated and moved with such beauty - streams of highly organised and complex light which in retrospect I think must have been the Ruach. It was, in any case, a lovely sight.
As I meditated on this experience, I recalled the words of Yah'shua:
"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other" (Mt.6:22-24).
A 'good eye' in Aramaic idiom means to be generous, and a 'bad eye' means to be stingy (Prov.23:6; 28:22). It is only as we open our hearts to Yah'shua that light enters and fills us. Satan, of course, sends counterfeit light which looks like the real thing but which is self-serving and consuming of others. If you have ever felt 'drained' by being around someone, it is because of this 'bad eye'. When we have no heavenly light to feed off then we must of necessity get light from somewhere, and that is usually your psychic energy if you are the (conscious or unconscious) victim or someone with a 'bad eye'.
When you see with a 'bad eye' you see through a demonic filter what you see becomes defined by the way the demonic wants you to see things. Yah'shua was hated without a good cause (Jn.15:25) and people sought His life. Why? Not because He was evil. Even unbelievers can see the good in Him even if they don't like His religious propositions and it would not be the first time that communists have adopted Him as a genuine socialist or revolutionary in a 'religious age'. As I think I may have mentioned to you before, this did not stop a Swedish communist called Sven Wernström in 1971 from rewriting the Gospels for children and calling it Comrade Jesus. I know, because the book was in our local library.
A 'bad eye' can be changed. It can be changed when you invite Yah'shua into your heart - or that part of yourself which you have reserved privately and stingily for your own use. He will enter, the Ruach will clean you out, and the demonic will be evicted. Then something new can be birthed in you, which can be nurtured and brought to maturity - something that will being you great happiness and contentment, and glory to Yahweh. It does squarely boil down to the power of choice, though. It's not enough waiting around until you 'want' to choose. The desire is birthed with a decision - a choice - but not before. The responsibility to choose cannot be abrogated to blind chance, a hoped-for feeling or some unknown power, because that power of choice belongs exclusively to you. That is why no one can decide that you should be a Christian. Even if you are brought up as one, at some point you have to exercise the power of choice. And, yes, you can choose not to be one, and be something else in turn. That is an inalienable right given to you, not by the whim of a politically correct state but by Yahweh Himself. He won't make your choice for you and not can anyone else.
I believe that the real self is naturally good because we come from Yahweh, who birthed us in the heavenlies before we incarnated down here. But we have an enemy - the flesh - which is not good, that we inherit in our physical bodies from our parents, that wars against us and claims the allegiance of our will and therefore our choosing. Though Calvinists declare that we are all inherently depraved through and through in every part, this I do not accept. In part, I think, they misunderstand King David who said:
"Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me" (Ps.51:5. NIV).
This is original sin. It is the Adamic nature in the flesh which becomes a part of our identity when we incarnate in flesh. The disposition to sin - to break Torah, to miss the mark - is there in us right from the first moment egg and sperm meet and our spirit becomes associated with the resultant zygote. We know this is true because if you do not raise a child it will go the way of the flesh - always - as I have discoursed on in depth in earlier sermons. That fleshy nature is there all our lives and can only be excised by metaphorically "crucifying" it when we allow Yah'shua full sovereignty over our being (Gal.5:24). His conquest of His own fleshy disposition, inherited from his mother Mary, then becomes our conquest purely by surrendering every part of ourselves to the Sovereign resident in our hearts. By this means we acquire a new nature, Messiah's nature, and the fleshy impulses are nailed to the cross like the brass serpent to Moses' pole. Thus Paul wrote:
"But I say by the Spirit (Ruach) walk and the lust of the flesh never follow, for the flesh desires a thing which is opposed to the Spirit (Ruach) and the Spirit (Ruach) desires a thing that is opposed to the flesh and the two of these are opposed to each other, that you do not do the thing which you desire. But if by the Spirit (Ruach) you are led, [then] you are not T'chair Namosa [under the law] 1" (Gal.5:16-18, HRV).
What this means, as Paul explains a couple of chapters before, is that once you are in Yah'shua and the Ruach is in you, you are free of the "curse" or "penalties" of the Law (Torah) (Gal.3:13). A more modern paraphrase translation says that "when you are guided by the Holy Spirit (Ruach haQodesh) you need no longer force yourself to obey Jewish laws" (v.18, Living Bible), and whilst this takes liberties with the original text, it does convey the truth that if Yah'shua is truly Sovereign in your heart, and the Ruach is within you, obedience to Torah will be spontaneous, - you won't need to force yourself, because you'll enjoy pleasing your Heavenly Father. It is only when we find obedience to Torah a burden or dreary that we know that something is not quite right inside, and the carnal man is against rearing his ugly head and claiming allegiance.
We all know the 'obvious' contrasts of good and evil. We know the difference between murdering and not murdering someone, or between stealing and respecting private property. But what of the more subtle differences? When I was in England in 2003, as it happens during the Teshuvah or Repentance Season in the autumn/fall, I was able to take a long, hard look at such questions by using the opportunity to spend more than average time in prayer and scripture study. If you are to discern the more subtle differences in spirit, you do need to look 'long and hard' to see then in the same way you must in order to discern objects in twilight. The world is a pot pourri of make-believe, flattery, insincerity, pride, vulgarity and flaunted evil. Christians are most likely to slip back into it when they are either bored or lonely when in fact they should be turning to Yahweh. The trouble with jumping into a dirty milieu, like a dirty swimming pool, is that in time you can get acclimatised to it as your spirit self gets numbed, narcoticised and rendered insensible to discernment. And when you stop noticing the dark spirits, you stop resisting them, and this desensitisation primes you for yet other demonic dishes. As water moves along the course of least resistance, so too does the lazy soul even if it is being sent warning mental signals to fight against it. One has to choose all the time. The power of choice is not just for the big decisions but for the countless micro-ones we must make while we're awake during a typical day. And in a world which is getting more and more saturated with dark forces, it is really coming to the point where either we must wear a spiritual space suit or just get out of it altogether.
When Yah'shua sent His disciples out two-by-two there was a sound reason. The basic principle is that believers should not ideally go out into the world alone but in pairs so that they can support, pray for, and check one another. Solo embers from a fire die out when they leave the hearth but together, or in greater numbers, they radiate heaven's warmth and are a reminder of heavenly places. "Watch the perfect, and observe the straight," Solomon counselled, "for the latter end of each is peace" (Prov.37:37). We are able to point each other to the Perfect One when our carnal mind wanders in search of alternative pastures owned by the enemy. Only when there is echad with Yahweh can we start standing alone in His strength.
Our problem tends to be that we do not wait for Yahweh long enough. We are impatient. And when He does not give us an instant responses that we can see, we turn to more accommodating, appeasing, lax and flattering 'masters'. "I waited, waited for Yahweh", Solomon reminds us (Prov.40:19) and then went off when I got no reply, instead of waiting longer: "And He drew me out of the pit of destruction, out of the muddy clay, and He set my feet upon rock, He is establishing my steps" (vv.1a-2). What then? Is that it? No! "Then He put a new song in my mouth; praise to our Elohim" (v.3a). "Many do see it and fear, and trust in Yahweh. Blessed is that man who has made Yahweh his trust, and has not turned to the proud, and those turning aside to falsehood" (vv.3b-4).
Young Christians in particular, like youth in general, are often impatient for results. We forget that Satan is the originator of 'MacDonald's-type salvation' - Yahweh has quite a different kind.
I am often asked how we can discern every element in the carnal nature when at times the boundary between light and darkness seems hazy and obscure. Which brings me to a mystery in the Hebrew language itself in which our Torah was revealed: why does it in its written form have no vowels? Were the vowels omitted out of pure laziness because the writers waned a paleo-shorthand? The consonants are like the co-ordinates of a geometrical shape, like the four dots that make up the corners of a square - the vowels, as it were, join them together and yet looking at four points you could just as easily construct a circle out of it as a square. So how does one know what the written language is supposed to be? One knows by the spoken language what the vowels should be, much as one should be able to fill in the missing spaces in discernment by watching and imitating those who have learned them by experience or from others. Revelation is not two-dimensional but has many dimensions. It seems the vowels in Hebrew were never meant to be written.
When Yahweh gives us dreams and visions they are the consonants of divine imagery. There are often many layers of meaning which is why interpretation is often so difficult for the novice. And there's even an inverted meaning - a counterfeit! The carnal can insert its own vowels between the consonants as easily as the in divine which is why some call the Father 'Yahweh' and others that monstrous word 'Jehovah'.
An extraordinary thing happened in Nineveh when Jonah finally went there and preached to the inhabitants. We read:
"By degree of the sovereign and his nobles: No man or beast, herd or flock, shall taste whatever - let them not eat, let them not even drink water. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and call mightily to Elohim. And let each one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands" (Jon.3:7-8, ISRV).
When I first saw this passage it conjured up all sorts of comical images of sheep, cows, donkeys, geese, cats and dogs walking around in sackcloth repenting alongside the Ninevehites themselves. But how wonderful it is when you are bathing in the Ruach to see so many 'hidden' things. Why should animals be covered in sackcloth and how indeed should they repent?
Now you and I know that an animal cannot repent. You can't extract a confession out of a goat or a duck, let alone dress one up in uncomfortable sackcloth. What you have to understand here is what the 'beasts' actually represent. Yet I can go and make a sackcloth suit for a mule if I want. Man can 'repent' for them, however, in exactly the same way as Messiah repented or atoned for our sins. We're responsible for our animals just as Yah'shua is responsible for us. What, then, constitutes the beast's 'repentance'? Submission. When a dog 'repents', he submits, by allowing himself to be tied up. When an ox 'repents', it submits, by allowing itself to be harnessed to the plough. The carnal nature in us has to be 'broken' or trained to submit too. It won't do it unaided or by gentle persuasion. Think how you train a dog or break in a horse. They are wild and may even be harmful. Adam was told to subdue the earth and the beasts thereof, which are symbols of man's own unredeemed passions in all their varied forms, from sharks to spiders. Job was told to learn from the ant. And he did.
Now if you'll look, you'll see more. The amazing thing is that Jonah did not accept the repentance of the Ninevehites. He was resentful. Instead, he felt sorry for a miserable plant that withered away in the sun. What does this plant (Jonah 4:6) represent? And what of the worm in the next verse? What a pitiful sight Job is! He wanted to die because Yahweh did not do things the way he wanted. A self-righteous man indeed. And yet, oh, how guilty we all are of that. Yahweh said to Jonah:
"Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left" (Jonah 4:11, NIV).
When these people repented, they could not tell their "right hand from their left". What does that mean? Yah'shua employed a similar expression about generosity you will recall (Mt.6:3). But it is more than that - this is more than about generosity. It is about the loss of self-consciousness! It is about not worrying anymore whether one gains or loses, and instead letting Yahweh 'worry' about such things instead. That is one level of understanding. The other is Yahweh's grace and forgiveness for people even as wicked as those of Nineveh. Jonah resented their pardon. He was used to Yahweh's special mercies to Israel but not to the 'un-élite', showing that there is no élite, merely those chosen to serve and reflect the love of Yahweh.
You see, you can't 'kill' the beasts, only cover them with sackcloth as you cover yourself. Isn't that what 'crucifixion' is? It's about atonement and covering. The flesh must be commanded or forced to be covered, or trained to naturally respond to the command. What does Paul mean when he says he is "crucified with Messiah" in this light?
We need only learn to write the 'consonants' - the 'vowels' we'll pick up along the way. And if we are like Mary the mother of Yah'shua we have only basically got to knuckle down to some basic responsibilities and do these well, like a good wife and mother. Many these days think such is a demeaning rôle but really it isn't. It is this maternal force that moulds young boys and girls and makes them into men and women. They create the 'territory' in which the children are planted and grow in.
Which brings me to 'territorial spirits'. A territorial spirit is what one might call a 'background' melody that supports all the creatures that live on the territory, like the crickets playing their background music outside in hot climates. Places have a certain 'feel' about them, a certain 'familiarity' which you don't really notice until you leave them and then return to them again later. They have, if you like, a 'vibration' or 'rhythm' that awakens things inside if you let it.
That background spirit is more important than you might think. When you yield to it, as you must do eventually, it in a way absorbs and conditions you. You merge effortlessly into it. Go away for a while and return home and see if people notice a difference in you. I notice it when my family goes way and then returns home. If they have not been rededicating the room or place they've been staying at while they're away - and especially sleeping in - they get leavened and changed by that territorial spirit. And since we don't live in a theocracy, you can guess what the territorial spirits are like, and what they're going to do to you, in undedicated land and space.
It is one thing to remove territorial demons but quite another to replace them with something else. It's not just what other people bring with them in their sinning - it's what you bring too. If we don't want to spend the rest of our lives dedicating and rededicating our homes and property to Yahweh, and asking Him to cleanse all spiritual impurities, then we have got to first of all be 'regrown' so that our children can grow up naturally in a set-apart environment. When we talk about Zion - the condition of divine purity in a geographical space - it can so often just be about principles. Most believers coming to this work have no idea what 'Zion' is and often mistakenly associate it with a Jewish political movement called 'Zionism'. That's not what we mean at all. To create a 'holy territorial', if I can call it that, means to build a set-apart community spirit which is 'in' Yahweh which then becomes the invisible matrix in which to rebuild our lives. It's a bit like a community's invisible set of clothes, it's culture, if you like. A successful, blessed, covered and sanctified community needs a little parcel of 'holy land' on which to live out of which flows the Ruach. To build end-time community you have to absolutely have the Ruach inside, which is our own 'holy land' as well as in the land we live on outside. The two must be in synchrony. The Tabernacle, containing the Ark of the Covenant, was that which sent out Yahweh's 'territorial Ruach' into the surrounding land where it stood. If Satan sends out territorial spirits to occupy a land or territory, rooted in the soil, water and air, then logically they must be 'occupying' something which rightly belongs to the Ruach haQodesh. For a community to have solidity and permanence there must not only be a people who are inwardly sanctified that results in an inner behavioural reformation, but there must also be the establishment of a true hekal or Temple of Yahweh that is tied to the physical environment in which such a community is built. Each and every community must have this spiritual radiating centre so that when the 12 end-time colonies are built, they will become impregnable fortresses during the seven years of antichrist rule. We have already been given some glimpses this year of how this will be. Yet we have far to go still.
This earthbound or 'earthy' Ruach is, of course, female. The earth is, in a way, the 'flesh' of the Ruach haQodesh but She occupies less and less of it to the point where it may well be said that Yahweh's 'territory' has shrunk to almost nothing in the world today in this time of universal apostacy. The land, because of these territorial demons, may rightly be said to be "swallowing up" people spiritually into their hellish pit just as the rebels in the desert of Sinai in the time of Moses were literally swallowed up into the earth. Hell is beneath the earth, sending a counterfeit light up, and connecting to the earth in the surface that is ruled by territorials. That is how demons are permitted to come 'up' out of the ground from the lower regions. Heaven, by contrast, is spiritually and physically 'above', sending Light down. It should come as no surprise to learn that Satanism, Wicca and the New Age are full of earth rituals - they are constantly 'blessing' (cursing) the earth, inviting demons up from below. It's exactly the same as the kundalini energy of Yoga which channels up the seething energy of Lucifer, a counterfeit satanic light, up from the base chakra out of the fleshy nature. The Ruach descends from above as the Ruach, in the form of a Dove, did at Yah'shua's baptism, but the kundalini or serpent-power ascends from below as a snake.
The same is true in human relationships. In the carnal world it all starts from 'below' with sex appeal and sexual attraction instead of ending up with it in marriage as the final seal of soul-mates. And the territorial spirit, which is below, pushes this. By linking our mind, thoughts and visual perceptions with the lower worlds through impure TV programs, computer games, Internet chat rooms, and so forth, the territorial spirit arouses our feelings, which is the place where the soul is rebirthed by the Ruach (in the heart) and where growth in Yahweh is mediated. The brain cannot birth us. Theology cannot birth us. Rather, the brain is the channel through which the Ruach acts to bring about order and discipline, but life and living must be generated in the heart. The fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge (Gnosis) of Good and Evil is the fruit of starting at the wrong end when one is standing upright - this is called in scripture "the pride of life" (1 Jn.2:16, NKJV, KJV); but when one is lying prostrate upon the ground, which is an act of worship, submission, and humility, there is no 'head' at the 'top', but rather a 'centre' which is the heart or lev. When was Eve created? Was it while Adam was standing up? Not at all. He was lying down asleep. His heart was the gravitational centre of his being and pointing up to heaven - Eve was taken from his 'side' at the same level of submission as he was. Therefore she represents submission.
The Garden of Eden was not only Yahweh's terrestrial territory before the Fall, it was its very centre, heart, temple, or lev. There were no noxious, choking weeds there. No cursed creation. No carnal nature. The beasts were in harmony with man. See, they must be covered again, this time in sackcloth and fasting, just as at Yom Kippur. Nineveh's teshuvah or repentance was her Yom Kippur.
Zion cannot be built save upon consecrated ground by consecrated people both of which are owned totally by Yahweh. Why can't a group of people just 'do' that? Why can't a temple thronged by malakim or angels just be 'built'? Because the territorial spirits of the places we come from are brought right back where such a gathered people assemble. Our inner ground becomes the spiritual sigtnature tune of our outer ground. Whatever we are connected to we bring with us - our earthly soul-ties, as it were. The outer ground we walk on is spiritually shaped by the inner ground of our souls. First the Holy of Holies of our soul - our heart must be fully yielded to Yah'shua and that can only be done by a genuine surrender - you can't just mouth it. There must be a Holy of Holies, inwardly and outwardly, which always belongs to Yahweh - then the land can be spiritually taken and consolidated by Yahweh. But first He must have our permission. There must be a place where heaven and earth meet because that is what Lev-Tsiyon or the 'heart of Zion' is. From the mental to the sexual, all has to be consecrated to Yahweh in the correct order.
To accomplish this divine echad, there cannot be divided loyalties in Yahweh's people. We cannot be like the foolish Arameans who declared: "Yahweh is Elohim of the hills, but He is not Elohim of the valleys" (1 Ki.20:28). Yahweh must own both the mountains and the valleys of our spiritual landscape. It is no use, as the majority of believers do, admitting that Yahweh is sovereign over one part of our lives but not the rest. There is no basis for gathering to Zion with such an attitude! It has to be all or nothing. And in my considerable experience, people can't do this all in one day. It takes time. Which is why Yahweh wants you to prepare wherever you are and not try to take Zion by storm because you're panicking you'll be left out. You won't be. The tribulation isn't going to start tomorrow. There is time. Nevertheless, use it wisely, and "redeem the time, because the days are evil" (Eph.5:16, NKJV). There's war in the Middle East. Things will get worse. I don't believe this will lead to World War 3 but it's certainly a stepping stone towards it.
To conclude my address to you today I want to share a prophetic dream that one of our people had recently. It concerns the Third Wave which is probably just starting now or about to start. Please take heed to this warning:
"A group of people were getting ready to leave. Lev-Tsiyon stood up in front of us to warn us of the imminent arrival of a huge wave (the Third Wave). He informed everyone that they needed to be prepared, and not to trust their eyes or believe their fears.
"At length the huge wave arrived, higher then the highest mountain, it seemed, and he told the people again and again not to run but to walk into the wave.
"Suddenly, the voice of Yah'shua was heard, saying: 'My Word shall not return to Me void (Is.55:11). Walk the Path that I have made for You to the New City which contains all I have promised you'.
"So the people began to walk towards the wave, just as the children of Israel had walked towards the Yam Suph or Sea of Reeds (Red Sea) in their departure from Egypt as the army of Pharaoh pursued them.
"For those who believed and walked into the wave, the wave parted, like the Sea of Reeds, and they passed through safely;
"But some who were afraid, whose faith wavered, refused to go on, and upon them the wave crashed down with great force and they were swept away back to the place from which they had originally come.
"It was both exciting and terrible - exciting for those who trusted, but also terrible for those who did not, because there were those whom we loved who chose not to trust and walk through the wave" (PWNC 20060725).
Yes, indeed, how fearful is the power of choice! In the days to come people we know and love will make life-changing choices. Their reasons will be many - some based on truth, some on lies. And one of the greatest ironies is how people recoil at the thought of having to suffer for the truth when they suffer even more for the lies they embrace. Whereas the first brings greater spiritual riches, the latter brings no gain whatsoever. Yah'shua suffered for us because of the joy it would bring. Satan will suffer for nothing.
May Yahweh fortify you for what is about to come. Do not look to the left or the right. Walk in the way Yahweh has commanded (Dt.5:32-33). Do not give into fear, do not believe in lies, but seek His Shalom in truth, is my prayer in Yah'shua's Name, Amen.
