The Garden of Yahweh
Father in the Garden - Elohim, Hair and Rulers
Main Themes:
Minor Themes:
As many of you know our large website on the internet is undergoing an enormous redesign and expansion. For weeks now the Ruach has been pouring information into my mind and showing me how to organise it in the simplest and most effective way for all those who are seeking after the Truth of Yahweh's Kingdom. Whenever I forget that this is Yahweh's project and not mine I go into a mild panic as I see the enormity and responsibility of the task, because no human mind could ever do it. Indeed, I am still in awe of the 'cosmic hugeness' of our Father in Heaven.
My sermon to you today stems from a revelation Yahweh gave me in the Garden two weeks ago which consisted of one word only but which has spread like a tidal wave over almost everything else, bringing unclear doctrinal contours into ever sharper focus and making the eternal plan of salvation crystal clear. And I am endebted in part to one of my adopted daughters whose issue or problem with authority was the catalyst to my understanding.
In the Garden of Yahweh is a fort. It is the place where children under heavy seige from Satan can take refuge. And the Name of that Fortress is Yahweh, our Father in Heaven. It has a main gate and battlements as you would expect of any castle or fort and is especially used by former SRA victims to sleep in at night when they are the most vulnerable. King David wrote:
"Yahweh is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my Elohim is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to Yahweh, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies" (Ps.18:2-3, NIV).
These are pretty unambiguous words. Yahweh is my fortress. When I call upon Him I am saved from my enemies. He is my rock, the One in whom I take refuge. He is my Elohim.
Now if you go to any non-Messianic English Bible and see how the word 'Elohim' has been translated you will find the English word 'God'. 'God' is one of the most often used words in our language but it is very misleading. In our language it describes any kind of deity and is used of the supreme being of Moslems, Hindus, and pagans. It is a most unfortunate word because it is, in fact, the name of a Germanic demon. In the old pagan German religions 'God' was known by various names - in German as Gott, in Norwegian, Danish and Swedish as Gud. And this demon has a long pedigree that can be traced back to Indo-Germanic roots where it was known as Ghodh meaning 'sexual union'. It is preserved in Dutch as gade and in old English as 'gadfly' or 'gadding about', i.e. being sexually promiscuous. In English we have the expletive 'Gad' which was very commonly used a century ago, a name that was used by the astrologers of Babel for Zeus or Jupiter, the respective Greek and Roman names for Satan himself.
Thus the new Messianic and Sacred Name translations of the Bible have rightly dropped the word 'God' and instead either left the original Hebrew word 'Elohim' or 'El' untranslated or have rendered it as 'mighty one'. Therefore our Heavenly Father Yahweh is translated as the 'Mighty One'. And there is no doubt that this is an accurate description of the Supreme Being. But it isn't enough.
Two weeks ago I spent the night in the fort in my garden together with the five fragmented parts of one of my daughters, a victim of satanic ritual abuse. After a very dramatic rescue when one of them was being dragged down to hell by a host of demons led by Hecate, and a very intense dream before in which I was shown inside her and the great emptiness in her heart caused by not only a lack - but a total and monstrous abuse - of parenting, I joined them in the fort with my wife and lay down with them, each with their head lying on my heart. One in particular was having huge struggles with submission to parental authority and though she wanted to submit just did not know how to. So the burning question in her soul was: how do I submit to my Heavenly Father and to my earthly father? With no righteous models in her life, how indeed could she know?
Throughout the night as they lay with their heads on my bosom a huge discussion took place. The remarkable thing is that I was not only fast asleep but that such activity was occurring. I could sense their every thought and feeling. One topic after the other came up in this silent communion of hearts. If one of them would be startled by a realisation of truth or resist a truth then I would partly awake because of the jolt, only to fall back asleep again. I recall one amusing incident in particular as we were discussing hair. Some weeks before the Heavenly Mother had been combing my wife's hair whilst my wife was combing the hair of one of the girls. The ladies will understand very well this feminine love-ritual which actually has quite a powerful bonding effect between girls. I was talking to the girls inside when I saw a vision of a large brown comb which my wife immediately identified as a counterfeit. "The Ruach is supposed to comb us, not ourselves!" she exclaimed as I described what I saw half awake.
Now hair, as the Bible informs us, is a woman's covering (1 Cor.11:15). We often speak of hair in that manner and leave it at that. But hair, as any woman will tell you, is something that occupies a great deal of her attention and time and she will go to great lengths to prepare it. If someone arrives at the door of the house, or a woman is about to leave for some public place, one of her reflexive actions is to put her fingers through her hair and fluff it up and make it look presentable. Her hair means a lot to her. She gives it, as a rule, as much attention as she does to her clothing.
Unfortunately, women of the world dress and prepare their hair adulterously. Under the influence primarily of the demoness Lilith, consciously or unconsciously they are preparing themselves as sexual bait for men. Or at least, they simply want to draw attention to themselves as objects to be admired and worshipped. Lilith is behind the whole cult of beauty and pornography which today has flooded the world. You all know what the apostle Paul said to the young evangelist Timothy but I want to repeat it to drve my point home:
"I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship Elohim. A woman should learn in quietness and full submission" (1 Tim 2:9-11, NIV).
Peter also taught:
"Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in Elohim's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in Elohim used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear" (1 Peter 3:1-6, NIV).
The behaviour of men should be no different. They in their turn are admonished by Yahweh to submit to Yahweh and call Him 'Master' and to have a humble and contrite disposition to their Elohim.
In the Garden the Heavenly Mother - the Ruach haQodesh or Holy Spirit - combed the hair of my wife as she combed the hair of one of my daughters called Bethulah. Bethulah was being prepared by my wife in the same way that my wife had been prepared by the Ruach. This is, of course, highly symbolic. The Ruach has taught my wife to be gentle and quiet, submissive and obedient. Peter describes such women as daughers of Sarah, the first wife of the Patriarch Abraham. Paul informs us that "those who believe are children of Abraham" (Gal.3:7, NIV). Abraham is our father - yours and mine - if we truly believe. And by 'believe' Paul does not just mean 'have faith'. The RSTN version of the Bible, a messianic translation, puts it best of all: ".. Those who are of the emunah. The same are b'nai Avraham", or in other words, those who are of 'the faith' are of the sons of Abraham. We are not just talking about those who 'have faith' but those who are of 'the faith'. And what faith is that? Messianic Torah! The Israelite faith! Those who are of the faith are actively trusting Yahweh as Abraham did and are obedient to Yahweh's laws and statutes, His Torah. We become the children of Abraham by faith in Yahweh through Yah'shua the Messiah by keeping the commandments. How else could Sarah have been able to be who she was, submissive, obedient and reverent toward her husband? Only Yahweh's Torah could teach her to do these things.
Now while I was in the fort with my wife and daughters, Yahweh spoke to me as I mentioned to you at the beginning of this sermon. He said one word to me. What happened was in connection with the combing of the hair incident. All these years my daughter had been combing her own hair - preparing her covering - under her own authority as her own father and head. What else could she do? Her father and mother had both been satanists and had abused her all her life. They never have her a godly rôle model but had inverted everything that was holy, making her ripe for demonic deception. The instinct of a lifetime was therefore self-preparation and self-preservation. She has to unlearn all that and be taught by her earthly mother - my wife - who is a daughter of Sarah by the faith and by obedience. And you can't make such daughters without the faith of our fathers. As I was heart-communing with my daughters and teaching them - the same lesson I have had to teach my wife, incidentally, who likewise was taught wrong patterns - I began combing their hair, just as I am sure our Heavenly Father 'combs' the hair of our Heavenly Mother. As the father it is my responsibility to provide my daughters with covering, therefore I must prepare the symbol of that covering by combing it, or my wife as my representative and as their mother. As I was doing this, the word ELOHIM, which we translate as 'God' or 'gods' came into my mind and I understood that I was being an 'elohim' to my daughters. It was then that Yahweh spoke a word into my mind - crystal clear - so that I would have its proper meaning in our English language. Do you know what He said? "RULER". Elohim properly translates into ruler in our language - one who rules.
Now I am going to illustrate this by quoting you a passage from the Old Testament where Yahweh instructs Moses. It is taken from the book of Exodus:
"Therefore, say to the Israelites: 'I am Yahweh ('the LORD'), and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your Ruler (Elohim, 'God'). Then you will know that I am Yahweh ('the LORD') your Ruler (Elohim, 'God'), who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am Yahweh ('the LORD')" (Ex.6:6-8, NIV).
Every time you see the word 'God' in an English Bible, or 'Elohim', I want you to stubstitute in the word 'Ruler' (or 'ruler' if a pagan deity is being referred to) and then listen to what Yahweh is telling you. Now as you all know, every time we have asked angels their name in the garden, they have always replied with what word? Yes, 'Elohim' - Ruler. You will recall that Scripture teaches that mankind in his mortal state was made "a little lower than the angels (elohim)" (Ps.8:15). But Scripture also teaches that the mortal Yah'shua was made in the same positioning. Paul said to the Hebrews: "You made him a little lower than the angels (elohim); you crowned Him with glory and honour, and put everything under his feet" (Heb.2:7-8, NIV). Yah'shua is also Elohim, is He not? As a mortal man He was made lower than the angels - the elohim - like us, but now He towers above them all as the Resurrected Son. But what of mankind? Does not scripture also say that the Judges of Israel are also 'elohim'? Yes they do. And please notice that this is said of the sons of Yahweh, not the daughters. Therefore we read in the Psalms:
"I said, 'You are "gods" (elohim, rulers); you are all sons of El Elyon (the Most High).' But you will die like mere men; you will fall like every other ruler" (Ps.82:6-7, NIV).
Please note carefully that these elohim, these Israelite rulers or judges, are sons of El Elyon, the Highest Ruler, or Ruler of rulers, our Heavenly Father, Nevertheless they are not immortal like Yahweh but they will die and fall like every other 'ruler'. The word this version renders 'ruler' is from the Hebrew sar meaning a 'captain', 'chief', 'general', 'governor', 'keeper', 'lord', or 'ruler'. A ruler is one who has authority to rule or govern and to administer rules, laws or commandments. Israelite rulers, however, cannot make up their own rules because they are in subjection to Yahweh, the Supreme Ruler. The rules they set are Yahweh's rules. The standard of behaviour they expect of their wives and children are the rule of the family of Mispachah. Every man here is the ruler if his family - literally its elohim or 'god'. He sets the rules and standards. He does the measuring using Torah as his ruler. That is his responsibility for which he is held accountable. It is not the place of wives or children to challenge his ruling - when they do that, they set themselves up as rulers in their own right and usurp the divine authority given to them.
Now I said at the beginning of this sermon that I was standing in fear of the work I am doing setting up our new webpage. I have to set out the doctrines and rules of the Kingdom. As the head of this Mispachah or family to which my children have been called by descent or adoption, it is my responsibility to exercise what one modern messianic Bible translation (ISRV) correctly calls 'right-ruling'. When I first saw their choice of words I was really irritated: "They are mutilating our language!" I cried to my wife. But now, having been shown by Yahweh what the word Elohim actually means, I see the wisdom of this choice of words, even if I think it is a bit clumsy. By 'right-ruling' we mean 'justice'. Justice in the Misapachah means judging rightly according to the rules. It also means that as the ruler of my family in both its local and wider sense, I must interpret Torah for our time and age to meet its peculiar challenges. Thus I must make judgments about all sorts of things like abortion, clothing standards, music, media, and so forth. I do not do this arbitrarily, however, but consult with Yahweh and await revelation. That is why we have prophets and revelators.
Now when I told my adopted daughter some weeks ago that I was her elohim or 'god' she was, understandably, shocked. She thought wrongly - and Yahweh did tell her in the Garden that what I meant was something totally different to what she supposed - that I wanted to be worshipped as deity, which is of course not what I meant at all. Only Yahweh can be worshipped as El Elyon - the Supreme Ruler. The angel or elohim of the Book of Revelation refused John's worship and said to him: "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship Elohim!" (Rev.22:9, NIV). You see, John was a fellow elohim! The angel was superior in rank but nevertheless a 'fellow servant', litterally a 'co-slave' (Gk sundoulos). In the resurrection Yahweh's elohim like John will "judge the angels" (1 Cor.6:3) because at that time they will be of a higher rank than them.
Do not suppose that all men are elohim. No-one is born an elohim or ruler. Rulers have to be made, and they have to be made by hard and demanding disciplining. Adam was told that he would have to sweat (Gen.3:19) to make the earth fruitful and make food for his family, and the male elohim - the father, husband and Israelite Ruler must sweat mentally and emotionally in his mind and heart, striving with the Word and in the purification of his soul, before he is worthy to be an elohim. This judgment of worthiness is made by no less than their fathers who themselves have been judged worthy to judge by the same trial of their faith. They must be purged like Jacob. They must be renamed Israel by overcoming. They must become fruitful gardens themselves, capable of nourishing and spiritually sustaining others, because that is what a father-elohim is.
There are all kinds of misguided and deceived Christians who today are promoting 'patriarchy' and themselves as rulers who are no more than spoiled little boys who have never grown up. They were never disciplined by fathers in right-ruling or justice. They are the children of lawlessness. They are the instruments of spiritual anarchy and destruction when they try to be fathers before their time. Therefore Yahweh resists them and cuts them down to size, and takes away their wives and children when they demonstrate their inability to take care of them or rule them as tyrants. The true father-ruler is one who has a 'name' or shem which he has obtained by virtue of his disciplining, overcoming and fruitfulness - a shem that women will want to be called by because it is made honourable by covenant, by sacrifice and by purging (Is.4:1). She will be able to lie with her head on his bosom in peace, tranquility and love, in the perfect safety of a sanctified elohim. Sons and daughters will recline in peace against their father's heart as the poor man Lazarus did in Abraham's bosom (Lk.16:23). True fatherhood is intimacy as your Heavenly Father is intimate with His submitted children, loving and cherishing them and giving them a fortress of safety.
The chief issue of life is right-rulership. Who is your ruler and what rule, standard or measuring instrument does he use? Who or what determines what you should do, how you should behave, what you should wear or eat, what company you should keep, and so forth? It suprises most Christians to learn that Yahweh has already detailed these rules in His Torah. He does not leave His children to chance or to the mercies of demonises humans. He puts a fence around them and gives them elohim or rulers who set righteous rules. There are the basic rules or Torah for everyone and then there are the details or minutae which each father must set for his household.
Next week I want to talk more to you about mothers and how they fit into the scheme of rulers and rulership. Are mothers matriarchs? Are they elohim too? I think you wll be surprised what the Scriptures and Yahweh actually say. Until then, may you all be blessed with right-rulers and submit in shalom or peace to those who are set over you to guard and nourish you. Amen.
