Monogamy (one man married to one woman) is the general rule and ideal for mankind and members of NCAY following the model of Adam and Eve. Why, then, does the Bible speak of, and even permit plural marriage or polygyny (one man married to two or more women)? And why does Yahweh describe Himself allegorically in polygynous terms as the husband of Judah and Israel? Why in the very last days does Isaiah say seven women will come seeking one man with a shem or godly name (Is.4:1)?
Why is Yah'shua (Jesus) described as living in an allegorical marriage union with the Body of Christ which is itself both monogamous and polygynous? Why is polygyny never condemned as a sin? Why are there no penalties in Torah (the Law given to Moses) for practicing polygyny? How did this practice disappear amongst believers? What should our response be to the modern Christian/Messianic polygamy movement? This page attempts to answer these and related questions as part of the restoration of all things for the end-time Remnant.
