Monogamy (one man married to one woman) is the general rule and ideal for mankind and members of NCCG following the model of Adam and Eve. Why, then, does the Bible speak of, and even permit, polygyny (one man married to two or more women)? And why does Yahweh describe Himself allegorically in polygynous terms as the husband of Judah and Israel? Why is Yah'shua (Jesus) described as living in an allegorical marriage union with the Body of Christ which is itself both monogamous and polygynous? Why is polygyny never condemned as a sin? How did this practice disappear amongst believers? What should our response be to the modern Christian polygamy movement? This page attempts to answer these and related questions.
