Your Daily Davar
Arising with Your Morning Sword
Carnal people first of all seek legitimacy in the people they manage to gather around themselves to follow them or meet their imagined needs. Spiritual people seek legitimacy from Yahweh by trusting Him and obeying His Davar (Word). Zion's children "triumph and [are] joyful in their King!" (Ps.149:2, Amp.V; Zech.9:9; Mt.21:5).
"He will beautify the humble with salvation and adorn the wretched with victory. Let the set-apart ones (saints) be joyful in the glory and beauty [which Elohim (God) confers upon them]; let them sing for simcha (joy) upon their beds. Let the high praises of Elohim (God) be in their throat and the two-edged sword in their hand" (Ps.149:4-6, Amp.V.)
I wonder how you started this morning? Do you sing upon your bed with high praises for Yahweh-Elohim? And was the two-edged sword in your hand?
"For the Davar (Word) that Elohim (God) speaks is alive and full of power - making it active, operative, energising and effective; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life and spirit, and of joints and marrow (that is, the deepest parts of our nature) exposing and sifting and analysing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the lev (heart)" (Heb.4:12, Amp.V.).
You see, this two-edged sword comes right from Yah'shua's (Jesus') mouth (Rev.1:16) and when your lev (heart) receives it, He places it in your hand so that you can wield it in all you do throughout your day. This Davar (Word) may come straight from Scripture and be animated or brought alive by the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) or it may be a complete new Davar (Word) for you personally or for those whom you are called to minister to that day.
Every morning before I get up I seek a Davar (Word) for myself, for my family and for those who receive my devotionals and on each sabbath for those who receive my sermons, each Rosh Chodesh and at the festivals. That's a lot of Devarim (Words) to receive! However, every head of household should be getting them daily for those he is responsible for, and every individual should be getting them for him- or herself and you should be testing what I receive for you to see if it harmonises with Scripture. Bedtime, you see, isn't just for sleeping but for prayer, worship and meditation too (Ps.4:4; 63:6).
Have you received your daily legitimacy from Yahweh? Or are you seeking it from others first? Are you certain about what it is you should be doing today? What is His Davar (Word) to your inner being? Have you arisen from your bed with that double-edged sword in your hand accompanied by simcha (joy) and praise? I suggest that no productive and shalom-filled day can really start without it, let alone have any meaning.
And so what if you're in the desert of the world and not in Paradise yet? We are still supposed to arise with that sword from Yahweh, that Davar (Word) which makes us active (as opposed to defeated), operative (rather than shut down), energising (rather than clapped out) and effective (rather than frustrated and defeated). Wake up early and stay in your bed or remain on your knees (or however you pray) until you have got that sword!
