Teshuvah #9 Fire
The End-Time Medium of Judgment
Those of you who have been following what little news on the subject there is, and perhaps some unofficial websites which are telling us what's really going on which our governments dare not say, will know the western Russia, the Ukraine and parts of Eastern Europe are being deluged by fire that has already destroyed a third of the world's wheat harvest for 2010 and is now threatening to unleash an even worse environmental catastrophe than the giant oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The fires are now threatening nuclear dumps. So severe is the crisis that the Americans have been asked to help. Attention, rather, has been focussed by the media on the severe flooding in Pakistan where a fifth of the population has been rendered homeless or without food. Yahweh was certainly right when He told us last year that 2010 would be a difficult and terrible year. One wonders what else is yet to come before October.
Whereas fire (esh) is positively used in Scripture to symbolise Yahweh's glory (Ezek.1:4,13), His protective presence (2 Ki.6:17), His holiness or set-apartness (Dt.4:24), of the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) (Mt.3:11 cp. Ac.2:3), of prophetic inspiration (Jer.5:14; 22:9; 23:29) and spiritual feelings (Ps.39:3), it is also used negatively to depict His righteous judgment (Zec.13:9) and His anger against sin (Is.66:15-16). It is even used to represent sin itself (Is.9:18) and ungodly lust (Hos.7:6). When Yahweh wiped out the earth because of sin in the days of Noah He used water; the next (and last) time, He says, He will use fire:
"But the day of Yahweh will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of Elohim (God), because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?" (2 Peter 3:10-12, NKJV).
Whatever the disaster in Russia portends, it is certainly a warning to make teshuvah (repent) in a world that is unquestionably wicked and in open rebellion against the Creator. Pray for the innocent people of Russia, Pakistan, the Gulf States, Northern China and everywhere where the earth is in upheaval. And if any of these climatic changes are being engineered by humans (such as with HAARP), pray for their murderous souls, for if they do not repent, it will not go well with them.
