Mystery of the Alef-Taw
Establishing the Right Foundations
The first and last letters of the Hebrew Alphabet are Alef (A) and Taw (t) [notice in Hebrew you read from right to left] which correspond to Alpha (A) and Omega (W) in the Greek and 'A' and 'Z' in our own Roman alphabet, respectively. In the Book of Revelation Yah'shua (Jesus) uses them to describe the fact that He is complete in every respect:
"'I am the Alef (Alpha) and the Taw (Omega), the Beginning and the End,' says the Master, 'who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty" (Rev 1:8, NKJV).
As "the Almighty" the Messiah confirms that He is Elohim (God) like His Father, Yahweh, and the Ruach haQodesh, what some call the 'Triunity' or 'Trinity'. This is what it means when He says that He is Alef-Taw, Alpha-Omega or A-Z. This Title of Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) is also found in the first line of the Bible, in the Old Testament, confirming that the Son is the Creator-Elohim:
"Beresheeth bara Elohim (In the beginning created God) (Yah'shua/Jesus) haShamayim v-et ha-aretz (the heavens and the earth)" (Gen.1:1, RSTNE)
Oddly enough no English version of the Bible bothers to translate or Alef-Taw. And indeed it would have been impossible to know what it actually meant until the coming forth of the Book of Revelation which interprets it. What it means is that the Saviour was recoded in the first line of the Old Testament!
This much most of you know. However there is more. The Hebrew script which I am using here for Alef-Taw - - is not the original Hebrew script at all. This modern 'block script' as it is sometimes called replaced the earlier Paleo-Hebrew in which most of the Old Testament was written. It was created (supposedly) to make the writing of Hebrew easier though the evidence I have seen suggests that there was an occultic purpose in its formation. Read any Kabbalist (Jewish occult) writing and you will see how the letters form a part of both its meditation system and its pictography. And one of the kabbalistic favourites is to arrange the block-Hebrew letters of the Tetragrammaton - the Name of the Father or YHWH - one on top of the other to create the form of a man. Occultism has as its ultimate goal to get man to worship himself as God (666), which is the antichrist system. This was also the original teaching of Mormonism, itself influenced by Kabbalism and Freemasonry, which proclaimed that Adam was God. You may recognise in this is the doctrine a another false system, Anthroposophy, too.
The orginal Hebrew script was pictographic just like ancient Egyptian so that each letter became a picture with a message as well as a sound. Alef was depicted as an ox's head and taw as a cross (see picture at top of devotional)! This means that in the original Paleo Hebrew Yah'shua is referred to as the 'Ox Head' and the 'Cross'. How do you translate that? The ox head represented strength and leadership and the cross represented covenant. Yah'shua is therefore the Covenant-Leader or the Covenant Head! He is the Leader or Head of the Bride, which is the redeemed Body of Christ or the invisible Messianic Community of all those who trust in the Head (salvation - corresponding to Pesach, Chag haMatzah and Yom haBikkurim) and who have entered a New Covenant Torah Covenant with that Head (see my recent Shavu'ot sermon). In other words, the Alef, Alpha or Beginning Gospel is simple salvation in Yah'shua the Messiah (Evangelical Christianity) and the Taw, Beta or End Gospel is betrothal covenants with Yah'shua which is a committment to live the Torah-lifestyle in that salvation and so become a part of the Commonwealth of Messianic Israel - the redeemed Nation of Yahweh...not the 'Church' or 'Judaism' (Messianic Israelitism). This, in short, is what Messianic-Evangelical means.
You might say, then, that we are Alef-Taw Christians or Beginning-and-End Christians. It is not enough to be an Alef-Christian and rest solely on your initial salvation (that's binding the infant to the cradle) and is useless being a Taw-Messianic without the initial salvation (which becomes a dead religion or works-salvation). We are commanded to move on, growing from grace to grace, from Pesach to Sukkot, working out our salvation (Phil.2:12), completing the race (Heb.12:1) until we are called to the Marriage of the Lamb and the Marriage Feast of the Lamb at the Final Sukkot.
I encourage you to be an Alef-Taw Christian and go all the way to completion...to the very End!
