    The Joy of Yahweh
    is My Strength

Did you ever have one of those days when you should have stayed in bed? One of those where the car breaks, the washing machine leaks, the dog has an accident on the bed, your boss is in a foul mood, and your children are slowly driving you out of your mind. You are absolutely convinced that you are alone in the universe and Elohim (God) is really, really far away. I am having one of those days. Family problems of almost catastrophic proportions. It is on days like this that I need to be reminded once again that the joy of Yahweh is my strength.

It is almost redundant to say these kinds of days are trials of faith. It is so easy to get so occupied with the adverse events that we lose sight of how truly blessed we are. When the car is broken down, we forget to be thankful that we can still walk to where we need to go. Many can't stand. When we look around a house that looks like a tornado swept through it and complain about the kids messing up as fast as we clean up, we forget to give thanks that we can see. Many live in darkness. When we are expected, one more time to solve all the crises our children bring on themselves. We forget to rejoice that we have them. Many are alone in this world. When we heap abuses galore on our bosses for their tyranny, we forget that many will go to bed hungry because they cannot find work.

This is not to say there are not real trials that we must face. But when we are faced with these problems, we need to remember that while we may not always control circumstances around us, we can control how we respond. I remember hearing it said once that happiness does not just happen, it is a result of the conscious choice a person makes to be happy. Now, think about that. Regardless of your circumstances, you can choose to be happy and at peace. Whatever life throws your, way you can choose to be at peace and content. It is a state of mind, not a state of being.

This has been a time of serious trial. Among our circle, there have been many health, financial, and spiritual crises in the last few weeks. It often truly does feel like Elohim (God) is far away. He is as near as a whisper, standing watch and waiting to catch us when we fall. What a wonderful assurance we have when we are told that He will never leave us or forsake us. And we also know how the story ends. YAHWEH WINS! Thus the peace that passes all understanding and the joy. Oh yes the joy of Yahweh is our strength.

Habakkuk 3:19 Yahweh-Elohim is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds feet, and He will make me to walk upon mine high places.
