Psalm 84:1-5 How lovely is your dwelling place, O Yahweh-Elohim. My soul yearns, even faints for the courts of Yahweh. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living Elohim (God). Even the sparrow has found a home and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young - a place near your altar, O Yahweh-Elohim, my King and my Elohim (God). Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Blessed are those whose strength is in You, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.
Oh how my soul yearns for Yahweh’s courts. As we go through the daily trials of this life, what a blessing it is to reflect on the ultimate journey’s end. We continue on in full confidence and faith that we have found a home, a nest, if you will near the altar of Yahweh. A home of peace and tranquility , never to know sorrow or pain again.
I love reading the Psalms. I never fail to find a passage that speaks of the assurances of Elohim's (God’s) love and mercy. As the days get shorter and the difficulties and trials of life get more numerous, we can be at peace, knowing that as painful and unsettling as this life can be, for those who cling to His promises and walk in His light, there is a glorious tomorrow. Another Psalm tells us that tears may endure for the night but JOY comes in the morning. But I have to tell you something. For those of us who believe those promises, we already can glimpse that joy.
So for today, I pledge that I will not complain about my trials. Today I will speak of the hope and joy in the promises of His word. My prayer is that that hope will shine so brightly from each of us that it makes those around want that same hope. For today, I will focus on the glorious promise that we are going Home.
