The Besorah (Gospel) of Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) is not just about avoiding sinful physical acts but also about mental purity. The 10 commandments both delineate the requirement of mental purity as well as prohibiting coveting of another man's wife (Ex.20:17). The Saviour took this one stage further by equating the physical act of adultery with desiring of someone else's wife (Mt.5:27-29).
The prohibition against ungoldly lust is found throughout the Messianic Scriptures (New Testament) which teaches that such desires wage war against the soul (1 Pet.2:11) James gives an analogy of lust to procreation, in which lust conceives and gives birth to sin, which results in death (Jas.1:14-15). The goal of pornography is to elicit lust, which makes its consumption a form of sin, leading to spiritual death.
Our thoughts are subject to the scrutiny of Yahweh (Jer.17:10; Rev.2:23). His Davar (Word) tells us that we are to keep our mind on the things above, not on the things of the earth (Col.3:2). Instead of thinking about things of the flesh, which result in spiritual death, believers are to set their minds on spiritual matters (Rom.8:5-8). The mind set on fleshly desires cannot please Yahweh, but eventually becomes defiled as the conscience becomes seared (Tit.1:15). The viewing of pornography by believers results in a mind that is focused on lust and fleshly desires, instead of on the things of Elohim (God). The goal of believers is to not conform to the desires of the world, but to be transformed by Messiah Yah'shua (Jesus) through the renewing of their minds, so that they may do the perfect will of Yahweh the Heavenly Father (Rom.12:2).
Because the human body is a temple of the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit), believers are to avoid every kind of sexual sin (1 Cor.3:16-17). The body is meant for the Master and not for sexual immorality (1 Cor.6:13). Since believers are redeemed - bought back with a price — which was the sacrifice of Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ), they no longer 'own' their bodies, since they have been purchased by Yahweh (1 Cor.6:18-20). Not only are believers to avoid sexual sins, but they are to avoid those who claim to be Christians or Messianics yet who practice such things (1 Cor.5:9-11). Those who are sexually immoral are separated from Elohim (God) and will not share in Yahweh's inheritance upon death (Gal.5:19-21; Eph.5:1-5; Col.3:5-6; 1 Thes.4:3-7; Heb.13:4; Rev.21:7-8; 22:14-16).
The result of pornography addiction is demonic strongholds leading to double-mindedness in the Christian/Messianic life (Jas.1:5-8; 4:8). It destroys purity of mind, corrupts conscience and dulls discernment. For one who is married, pornography amounts to adultery; and for the single, fornication.
