Month 12:01, Rosh Chodesh, Year:Day 5936:325 AM
ROSH CHODESH XII (Shenem Asar haChodesh)
Gregorian Calendar: Sunday 10 February 2013
Rosh Chodesh XII
What is Your Life and Name?

    Introduction

Chag sameach Rosh Chodesh Kol Beit Yisra'el! May Yahweh bless everyone as we enter the twelfth and penultimate month of the current year and particularly may He bless those who have headship over families to clearly discern what the Father's will is for them and their families this month. With liberty under assault everywhere, and particularly in America, and as dictatorial forces assume greater and greater powers, every man must know what he is to do for the safety of those whom he is responsible for.

    A Patriarchal Fellowship

My responsibility as a spiritual father over those who have been led by Yahweh to place themselves and their families under my ministerial headship is to point heads and those with no head in the direction that Yahweh is taking the Body of Messiah. I am not currently so much a traditional 'pastor' but a brother of other fellow patriarchs who have been led by the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) to accept leadership, spiritual education and a prophetic voice for as long as they believe they are called to be thus led. We have not yet reached the point of communal covenants (though that day will come by the by and though there are a few who have felt led to make them) so we are for now a voluntary association of like-minded and like-hearted souls seeking to cooperate to do the will of our Heavenly Father. I have been asked when we are going to organise again but I have still not received that direction from Elohim (God).

    Explaining Our Current Loose Fellowship

There are both advantages and disadvantages to such a loose association - it means there is maximum liberty for patriarchs, which has the advantage of sparing families from the ravages of predator ministers who love to lord it over others who are as much out to build their own private kingdoms as they are the Father's ... but it also means that there is a lack of the kind of cohesion and spiritual intimacy that makes for a properly functioning uniplural Bride of Messiah. However, that highly desirable and prized kind of internal unity of the Bride of which Scripture speaks cannot be attained by force but must occur on the basis of:

    • 1. Mutual attraction of the bridal elements (individuals without heads and heads of families); and
    • 2. Complete trust in, and obedience to, the Head and His Torah

    Developing Trust in Unity

Such trust can only come about when there is unity in doctrine, something I once thought was practically impossible, but something I am having increasing belief in now. One of the brethren yesterday sent me a link of a website [1] which I had never heard of and I was amazed at the concordance or agreement we had in so many things! Yahweh is truly working in the area of Scripture interpretation and without the need of some human head or denomination dictating doctrine. Rather, those individuals and ministries seeking the absolute emet (truth) of the Davar Elohim (Word of God) are seeding one another. None of them feel a need to lord it over others, nor will they tolerate being lorded over by immature spiritual despots who feel they need power to satisfy various inferiority complexes. The latter are a dime-a-dozen and they come and go like the tides of the sea, briefly rising in their own glory and then falling in ignominity. They have not yet understood the diffrerence between the old (and now defunct) Levitical/Aaronic Order (and its Priesthood) and the Melchizedek which belongs to the New Covenant.

    Avoiding the Totalitarian Temptation

If you have been drawn to and perhaps joined a ministry where charismatic leaders seem to have mixed motives and end up becoming little dictators who like to give orders to hide behind their own inadequacy, I don't blame you if you are cautious about joining with other groups. We have all been torched one way or another and perhaps even fallen for the totalitarian temptation ourselves as leaders. Consider, therefore, Yah'shua's (Jesus') own words on the subject:

"The kings of the Goyim (Gentiles) lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves. You are those who have stood by me in my trials. And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel" (Luke 22:25-30, NIV).

Do You Have an Authentic Shem?

There aren't many who understand the righteous exercise of toqef (authority) because there are very few who have an authentic Shem, Name or Character who are qualified to lead in the New Covenant Melchizedek Order. Like the King of kings, Yah'shua (Jesus), these men are to each be a melchi-zedek, or more accurately, a malchi-zadok - a "king of righteousness" under the King of Righteousness and Cohen Gadol (High Priest), Yah'shua (Jesus). The leaders of true Messianic Israel, and not the many (inevitable) counterfeits, must possess this Shem and this Melchizedek lev (heart) and as a husband takes care of a bride.

Seeking a Man with a Shem

Indeed these kinds of men are sought not because they have bulging biceps, a handsome face, charisma, a healthy bank account or any of the other qualities that women of the world lust after, but because of their shem. Of such men in the last days Isaiah speaks thus:

"In that day seven women will take hold of one man and say, 'We will eat our own food and provide our own clothes; only let us be called by your shem (name). Take away our disgrace!'" (Isa 4:1, NIV).

A Spiritual Covering the Most Prized

This does not necessarily just mean that they are clammering to have that man's last name or because they are ashamed to be single but because they desperately seek the spiritual covering of a spiritual man who has a shem, name or set of godly character dispositions. For just as "they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel" (Rom.9:6b, NASB), so they are not all spiritual men who wear the label 'Christian' or 'Messianic'.

What a 'True Name' Actually Is

I want to insert a comment at this point for the benefit of those who are obsessed with getting the 'true Name' of Elohim (God) right, and who cajole those who do not perhaps write or pronounce it in the way they firmly believe to be correct, because this passage in Isaiah essentiall addresses the same issue. While it is right we should, as best we can, seek to address Deity in the proper way with the proper respect and using the proper pronunciation, the latter is not at all the main thing. When Scripture speaks of calling upon the Name of Yahweh is is not so much the proper articulation of the word that is the main thing but a recognition that the reason we call upon that Name is because of what the Name represents - the character, mind and heart of He whom we call Yahweh (or Yahveh, Yahuah, Yahuweh, Yehweh, etc.). Consider, if you will, what David meant when he said:

A Shem is the Whole Personality

"We give thanks to Thee, O Elohim (God), FOR THY SHEM (NAME = YAHWEH) IS NEAR; men declare Thy wondreous works" (Ps.75:1, NASB).

How can a name be "near"? Simple:

"Yahweh is NEAR to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in emet (truth)" (Ps.145:18, NASB).

    Access Through Truth

Accessing the Name is accessing the character is accessing the whole Person and that can only be accomplished by approaching Him in emet (truth)!

    The Seven Women of Isaiah

A shem or name acquires a reputation only by exposure to the emet (truth) of the character it represents. That is what the seven women of Isaiah 4:1 are seeking and nothing else, because they are godly women, not carnal women looking for any old shelter in a storm and hoping to exploit some sucker of a man interested in only that which pleases carnal men. Do they sound as though they need physically taking care of? After all, they are well able to provide for themselves, and offer to do so even after marriage. These women are both literal (that is, this is a prophecy of future plural marriage) as well as symbolic of believers in the last days seeking righteous headship and leadership. Your Shem - Name - is therefore everything in this Melchizedek Order of Yah'shua's (Jesus') Kingdom.

    The Kingdom as Family

These end-time men are elohim or judges in Israel and have the responsibilty like the original Twelve Apostles in "judging the twelve tribes of Israel". This is not some pompous magisterial system such as the world relishes but of the kind Yah'shua (Jesus) described. These are fathers who take care of their families, clans and tribes with a father's lev (heart). The whole Kingdom of Yahweh is an extended FAMILY where family relationships, in their proper order and in the righteousness which is Messiah's, prevail. To understand how the end-time Body of Messiah works we have to get out of the 'church' and 'synagogue' models we were raised in. This is not some democratic system, neither is it some totalitarian system with cronies jockeying for power and influence. This system is based on righteous toqef (authority) and spiritual attraction. Birds of a feather will naturally flock together.

    Doctrine

What has become very apparent to me over the years is the vital importance of correct doctrine. Unless a family has an agreed-upon law, no one will trust it, let alone want to be a part of it, because one of the secrets of a successful family is righteous law - justice and discipline mingled with an overflowing ahavah (love) and generosity of spirit. And there aren't very many men I know of who are capable of mixing these essential elements, not because they can't but because boys are being brought up in a dysfunctional world. The concrete jungle is not the best place to raise men of Elohim (God).

Attend to Personal Ignorance Before Trying to Fix Others

Are you one of those people in a hurry to fix things in others, in the world, in the Body of Messiah? Don't be. Let the Ruach (Spirit) do that. Come into the Melchizedek way of doing things. Bruce Lee once famously said:

"Don't be in a hurry to 'fix' things...rather, enrich your understanding in the evergoing process of discovery and finding more the cause of your ignorance".

    The Ongoing Process

The problems in life are not so much other people's issues but our own ignorance of emet (truth). Once we fix that, most everything else takes care of itself, at least as far as we are concerned. And Yahweh can neither give you an honourable shem (name) nor put you in a position of leadership where you have the responsibility for, and watchcare of, others until your own ignorance is fixed. Remember, too, that 'getting fixed' is an ongoing process - it doesn't end until we have finally made it and fulfilled the measure of our creation. And since we are all in that process, a good deal of grace (undeserved loving kindness) is required of us all if we are to succeed in the Kingdom mandate. This must necessarily be true of both the led and those leading.

    Your Life, What is It?

We need not, moreoever, ever permit ourselves to fall into the trap of thinking that we are someone or something 'important'. We need a true perspective of our place in the scheme of things:

"Your life, what is it? You are no more than a mist, seen for a little while and then dispersing" (James 4:14, NEB).

Such a thought might well depress anyone trying to be 'big' and to 'make a difference'. Solomon also discovered this:

"Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear Elohim (God) and keep his mitzvot (commandments), for this is the whole [duty] of man" (Eccl.12:13, NIV).

The Dross Will Be Burned Away

All that matters is what changes you inside for the good. And what changes you inside for the good is loving and serving Yahweh by loving and serving your fellow man in integrity and emet (truth). The material world as we know it, including all its man-made monuments, will at some point burn up - consumed in fire at the end of the Millennium so that this earth can become a permanent Heaven-on-Earth in every sphere of existence, from the spiritual to the physical. All that we can take with us into eternity is that which is inside which is in Messiah Yah'shua (Jesus) - the rest will have to be (painfully) burned out, so don't let the junk remain - deal with it now!

"For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ). If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames" (1 Cor.3:11-15, NIV).

    Long-Term Goals

Can there be anything more disappointing than seeing years and years of carnal labour burned up like dross, as it is revealed to have no value? I am asking you today to consider your long-term goals, and to devote this month to fixing things in your lives so that they are better oriented toward them. What is your life? Where is it headed? Is it founded on the foundation laid by Messiah Yah'shua (Jesus).

"Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a 'fool' so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in Elohim's (God's) sight. As it is written: 'He catches the wise in their craftiness'; and again, 'Yahweh knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.' So then, no more boasting about men!" (1 Cor.3:18-21, NIV).

    Conclusion

If you are uncertain about where to head, pursue righteousness and good-will toward all men in obedience to Torah and Yahweh will guide you surely and steadily along the Derech (Way):

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares Yahweh, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,' declares Yahweh" (Jer.29:11-14, NIV).

    Amen.
