You, I and everyone else on this planet have a job to do. We are not the products of chance, we are here for a purpose and with a mandate from the Creator, Yahweh-Elohim, to exercise dominion in the spheres allotted to us.
"Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth" (Gen 1:26, NKJV).
In this statement Yahweh gives toqef or authority to every single person to rule in the earth. This toqef or authority is not by natural right but by assignment from a higher Toqef or Authority, the Sovereignty of Elohim (God). This toqef or authority is not, however, limitless - it is given within very strict limits. We are to assume no more toqef than what is actually given us. To claim or take more is to challenge and rebel against the higher Toqef and has serious repercussions for us.
This morning I saw a vision of a woman whom I know and love. She was lying in bed, unable to sleep, lonely and unhappy. She had seized a toqef (authority) that Yahweh had not given her to govern her life in the way she wanted to even though this spelled disaster for her family and for her own life. She is now in serious spiritual bondage.
Yes, we have 'free will' or 'agency', but only up to a point, because what we choose and do inevitably affects others around us, thus interfering with their toqef or authority and their 'free will'. In the end we discover that Yahweh exerercise His Will to bring man's will into alignment with the divine plan for his life.
Our life span on earth is granted us to mature from his natural selfishness to the full maturity of the Sons (and Daughters) of Elohim (God). Life on planet earth was not designed to be a joy-ride for lawless men and women. We are here on terms - terms that were dictated in pre-earth life and confirmed in Scripture.
It is, unfortunately, the tendency of children to misuse any toqef (authority) they are given and this is is translated globally in terms of all mankind abusing toqef (authority). Governments everywhere have done it in every age of history and will continue doing it until Messiah returns to establish His righteous government.
Men covet toqef (authority) because toqef gives them wealth and power; and wealth and power - unless harnassed by morality and obedience to a higher Toqef (Authority) - always leads to pride and a fall. They have failed to understand the true definition of toqef which is the power to be a more effective servant to others on behalf of Messiah! Fallen man defines toqef (authority) as the privilege to do what others are not allowed to do, and thus privilege becomes the power to abuse others with immunity from the law. This kind of 'power' is not biblical Dominion!
Every single human being is, as I have said, granted a degree of toqef or authority but it is granted so that man can learn the vital lesson: that with any kind of toqef (authority) there also comes an equal level of responsibility and accountability. They are two sides of a single coin of emet (truth). Carnal man, however, wants to do whatever he wants without responsibility or accountability. Our plots and schemes, however clever we may think we are in hatching and executing them, always fail in the end. Because the irresponsible use of power, even if it is used to overthrow a tyrant - real or imagined - always created a new tyrant in its place: the one doing the overthrowing. And though we may be able to exercise tyranny for a while, it can only last a short season. In the end, all tyrants are brought low.
We have a choice to learn from history, if we will, whether our toqef (authority) is over many people in positions of great power, whether it is as family heads, or whether it is simply over our own personal lives. And that choice is to learn whether we become a more successful tyrant than we were before or to learn how to be repulsed by tyranny of any sort and so lean not to be a tyrant at all - whether over others or just our own souls. We either learn from the examples of past and present tyrants (and there are billions of them) or we learn the Way of Messiah.
That's the choice.
The path we choose determines the kind of life we live on earth and the kind of life we will inherit in the eternities. The path of Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) may not be easy but it is infinitely better than the path of anarchy and destruction caused by a refusal to operate within the bounds of Divine Dominion. And those who want to be rulers in the age to come must first learn how to rule themselves according to Yahweh's Torah by overcoming their own sinful and carnal dispositions under Elohim (God) and IN Yah'shua (Jesus).
The choice is ours.
