Pravis assuescere sermonibus est via as rem ipsam
To hearken to evil conversation is the road to wickedness
Lashon hara or 'the evil tongue', is the Hebrew term for 'malicious gossipping' and is described as a great evil in the Scriptures with dire consequences for those who engage in it.
"My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Elohim (God) and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of Elohim (God). Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring can yield both salt water and fresh.
"Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the emet (truth). This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in shalom (peace) by those who make shalom (peace)" (James 3:1-18, NKJV).
One such character in the Bible was a renegade pastor called Diotrephes who liked to lord it over his congregation and showed scant respect for true ministers of the Besorah (Gospel) or the apostolic office:
"I wrote to the congregation (church, assembly), but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence (Gk. katakurieuontes - "likes to be the macher" (Yiddish for 'big shot, real operator') - CJV, "lording it over", "trying to show his authority", "likes to be foremost" - AENT, "likes to put himself first" - NRSV, ESV) among them , does not receive us. Therefore, if I come, I will call to mind his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words ("gossipping maliciously" - NIV; "spiteful and malicious gossip" - CJB, lashon hara). And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the congregation (church, assembly)" (3 John 9-10, NKJV).
"Whoever gossips to you will gossip about you" (Spanish Proverb)
Though lashon hara manifests in the mouth its origin is the heart out of which proceed all kinds of evils:
"What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man" (Mark 7:20-23, NKJV).
Though the thoughts, feelings and intents of the heart manifest in all kinds of actions, the first place evil men invariably go to is the tongue:
"This people honours Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me" (Mark 7:6, NKJV).
"We cannot control the evil tongues of others; but a good life enables us to disregard them" (Cato the Elder, 234-149 BC)
Speaking lashon hara is a bit like planting the flag, for all to see, of your intent to pursue further actions "for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Matt.12:34, KJV). Nevertheless it is more than that - speaking evil begins a contaminating and destructive action in the hearts and minds of those the words are directed at, corrupting and prejudicing those who, lacking any sure knowledge or understanding, may be listening:
"Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have practiced deceit. The poison of asps is under their lips" (Rom.3:13, NKJV).
There is a definite effect of poisonous words on the souls of others at complete variance with the effect of words spoken out of a pure heart:
"The work of righteousness will be shalom (peace), and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever" (Isa.32:17, NKJV).

"True statements may also be lashon hara if relating them can cause damage to others" (Rabbi Israel Meir)

New Paradigm |
BIBLICAL ABSOLUTES & VALUES |
RELATIVE VALUES |
GLOBAL (N.W.O) ABSOLUTES & VALUES |
The Bible reveals reality |
Science alone explains reality |
Feelings and experience prove reality (existentialism, feminism) |
Yahweh (God) is personal (loves us) and greater
than His creation |
Religion is a crutch, an illusion, the opium of the people (atheism/fascism/ communism/liberalism) |
An impersonal universal god (pantheism = occultism)
makes all things one (monism = satanism) |
Teach personal responsibility (accountability to Truth who is Yah'shua the Messiah/ Jesus Christ and Torah) |
Teach human rights (you are your own truth = self-worship and self-accountability) |
Teach collective duties, responsibilities or obligations (the state is Truth = Totalitarianism = no accountability = dictatorship) |
Don't tolerate sin (but love sinners) |
Tolerate all lifestyles (moral anarchism) |
Don't tolerate dissenters (zero tolerance = persecution = prison, torture and murder) |
Trust Yahweh (God/Elohim) |
Trust self (self as god) |
Trust the state (state as god) |
* A cultural paradigm is a social awareness,
a worldview, a pattern or framework for understanding reality,
a point of view that determines how the general public evaluates
good and evil, right and wrong. A paradigm shift
means a cultural transformation, a total change in thinking,
seeing, and evaluating social issues.
