    Yah'shua our Doctor

    This morning I was talking to a person who claims to love Yah'shua (Jesus), but felt attacked when confronted with some of the requirements Yah'shua (Jesus) has asked of those who seek Him. The person has trouble accepting that a loving Elohim (God) can demand anything of us - especially things that we don't want to do. How can Yah'shua's (Jesus') sacrificial love and the giving of commandments, that we cannot comprehend the reason for or perhaps even dislike doing, be combined?

    Our problem is that we've all caught a 'fatal illness' called sin and it is just as serious as AIDS, but we have one hope - unlike AIDS there is one 'Doctor' who has got the cure. All we have to do is to take His medicine and we will survive! But again we have a problem and that is that not everybody will do that and there are many reasons for this;

    • some deny that they are sick in the first place;
    • some think they can make better medicine themselves;
    • some don't believe there is such a doctor and won't go and see him;
    • some hear of so many doctors and cures, they won't believe anything in the end;
    • some stick to their false doctor(s);
    • some come to the right doctor but won't believe what he says;
    • some claim to follow the doctor's prescription but don't; and finally
    • some have been told what to do by the doctor but think it unloving of him to force them to take his yucky medicine!

    There are probably plenty more reasons for not getting healed - but I'm sure you will agree with me that not getting healed from a fatal disease when it is possible is a rather stupid thing to do.

    Now in biblical terms I'm sure you who read this have already realized that Yah'shua (Jesus) is the doctor and His Commandments are the cure; and sin, as I said, is the illness.

      "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him... If a man love Me, he will keep My words: and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth Me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent Me" (John 14:21,23b-24, KJV).

    Is it unloving of the doctor to insist that we take his medicine? Is it unloving of Yah'shua (Jesus) to insist that we obey His commandments? Of course not.

    So whatever commandment we may struggle with, loving the Master with all our heart, mind and soul, loving our neighbor as ourselves, forgiving one another, not lusting for anyone or anything that does not belong to us, the laws of marriage, respect for parents and elders, witnessing, or whatever we might find hard to accept or do, we may comfort ourselves that if we obey with the Almighty's help - we will survive and be "more than conquerors through Him that loved us" (Rom.8:37b, KJV).
