The Return of the Elijah Prophets is a series of sermons given in 2021 that has as its objective the understanding of Tanakh (Old Testanment) prophecy by examining the background in which the nevi'im (prophets) worked and the underlying ideas which they took for granted.
Following in the methodological footsteps of Harry Mowley, the significance of the Davar (Word), the place of symbolic action and the meaning of such prophetic concepts as holiness and righteousness are carefully examined. Additionally, the relationship between cohen (priest) and navi (prophet), and between prophetic utterance and the Widsom literature, is brought out.
The purpose of this study is to link the Tanakh (Old Testament) Elijah prophets with those of the Messianic Scriptures (New Testament) and the important pioneering work done by John and Sandra Sanford in the latter part of the 20th century, an early attempt to restore the prophetic office within a Protestant context but before the proper restoration of New Covenant Torah had been accomplished - see the Spirit of Elijah website and also their book, The Elijah Task (1977).
The "restoration of all things" (Ac.3:21, NKJV) is even more comprehensive, though. The New Covenant Elijah Prophets have, as their sacred task, not only the fulfilling of the Malachi Mandate to "turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers" (Mal.4:6, ESV), which speaks of the rebuilding of divine patriarchy in a world where gender rôles have been reversed and even destroyed by feminism and postmodernism, thus threatening "the land with...utter destruction" and thus Judgment with the purpose of catalysing the rebuilding of shattered relationships in Messiah Yah'shua (Jesus).
But there is yet another, just as important, task of the end-time New Covenant Elijah Prophets which pertains to the Last Exodus and Final Gathering of the Twelve Tribes of Israel immediately prior to the Second Coming. This concerns the Penultimate Judgment (2021 - ) and the events immediately prior to the return of Christ and to the Final Judgment, similar to the days of the judgments of Samaria and Jerusalem under the classical nevi'im (prophets) who were endowed not only with the spirit of prophecy and revelation but with power to cause drout, bring rain, heal the sick, and call fire down from heaven in order both to meet - and overpower - similar exhibitions of demonic strength by the Enemy seeking to deceive the world (Rev.13:1; 20:9). The end-time Elijah nevi'im (prophets) will have multiple occasions to reduce the adversaries to "ashes under the soles of your feet" (Mal.4:3, ESV) which even in our own day has already begun on a very small scale.
This series of sermons links the classical to the modern nevi'im (prophets) as well as exposing the thousands of false lawless ones who have acted, and are acting, presumptuously.
