    and Short Introduction

    A. Introduction

    A Uniquely Protestant Cult

    Like the Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons and a number of other cults that use the Bible, Calvinism uses the language of Christianity but means something different by those key words which are common to the salvational vocabulary of the gospel of Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).

    Simplifying the Convolution

    This can make untangling the thinking behind Calvinism very difficult for the layman to properly understand in light of the original teachings of Scripture. Up until now most of our materials on Calvinism have used technical theological terms to explain the convolutions and twistings of this strange religion. This book aims to simplify matters and arm the pastor, teacher, evangelist, apologist and layman with explanations that can be clearly and simply understood.

    The Four Principle Heresies of Calvinism

    The thesis of this book is that Calvinism has more in common with Islamic ideas about fate and pagan notions of punishment than it does with biblical Christianity. There are at least four major heresies that are central to Calvinistic belief, most of it baggage brought by Augustine (who was a Platonist) from his previous religion of Manicheism into the emerging Roman Catholicism - and Calvin was heavily influenced by Augustine:

    • 1. Manicheism - which taught determinism and total depravity;
    • 2. Gnosticism - salvation by nature dressed to look like grace;
    • 3. Fatalism - denial of human free will; and
    • 4. Neoplatonism - the Greek pagan philosophy of Plotinus (the doctrine that the soul is composed of a higher and lower part) in biblical garb.

    Mutilating the Character of Yahweh

    It is for this and other reasons that we regard it as a dangerous cult that warps the minds and dulls the hearts of those adherents who take it seriously. Worst of all, it blasphemes the character and scandalises the heart of our Heavenly Father, Yahweh-Elohim.

    An Ongoing Collaboration of Several Authors

    The book you are about to read is a collaboration between several authors though the framework and principle contributor was an unknown writer who began publishing an in-depth exposé around the turn of the century but never finished his work. Whether he became too ill or passed into eternity is unknown to us as he left no means of contacting him or his heirs to thank him though he has given premission to reproduce his work. We have taken his excellent work and expanded it and hope the brother, who inspired and fleshed out the core of this work, would be pleased to know that his labour has not been in vain and getting extensive exposure through this website.

    Mimimal Messianic Terminology

    Because those who are caught up in the cult of Calvinism are not messianics, minimal cosmetic changes into messianic terminology have been made save to honour the true names of Deity to make it more intelligible and to enable a freer flow. We wanted to use and preserve a familiar Protestant delivery style that would be readable for evangelicals of all denominations.

    Contributors Welcome

    We welcome the work of anyone who would like to contribute materials to this book. You will find a number of proposed chapters that need writing, usually centering on a particular biblical text, and if you think you could write something useful that preserves the style and overall aims of this project, please contact us and let us know what you have in mind. We have done this before with other inter-denominational projects such as the Rapture.

    Not an Attack on Calvinist People

    Finally, we wish it to be known that we are not attacking Calvinists but Calvinism many of whom have been born-again but were waylaid. We love Calvinists and want to see them delivered from a false, destructive and fanatical system of religion.

    Many Kinds of Calvinist

    There are many who attend Calvinist churches who have little or no idea what the true doctrines of Calvinism are. Many of my relatives are counted amongst that number. Then there are those whose allegiance to Calvinism is more tribal than doctrinal. This is because of their upbringing and loyalties. They are nominal or 'Calvinist-in-name' only and are largely ignorant of what their religion is all about. The hearts of so many of these lovely people are truly connected to the living Messiah - they simply do not understand Calvinism. Indeed, there are many kinds of 'Calvinist'.

    Famous Calvinists

    Some of the better known Calvinists include John MacArthur, R.C.Sproul, James White, J.I.Packer, John Piper, Paul Washer, Todd Friel, Sye Ten Bruggencate ('Sye TebB'), Steve Lawson, Loraine Boettner, C.H.Spurgeon, A.W.Pink, B.B.Warfield, Jonathan Edwards, and John Calvin himself. Calvinists very much dominate the Internet, presenting a distorted version of the Gospel, a reason this website was created.

    May Yahweh our Heavenly father bless and enlighten you as you study this book.

    CONSIDER THIS...

    Why do Calvinists struggle to grasp the truth of biblical provisionalism or traditionalism? Because if you believe you were always predestined for salvation and if you believe you can never lose your salvation, you don't need to understand anything else. And you certainly don't need to be humble, just convince people you are right without ever considering you might be wrong.

    Calvinists believe in 'Radical Grace'. They live in fear of losing their 'Free Pass into Heaven' by entertaining any other teaching that actually might require them to do some real choosing in life (as opposed to the pretend version of 'choice' they speak of). They are also in a classical satanic double-bind: for Calvinists teach that if you fall away from Calvinism, you were never saved in the first place, so they have no assurance of salvation while they are alive. Only Calvinism guarantees salvation - literally, 'Calvinism saves'. This system is not unlike that of Mormonism which teaches that since it is the 'one and only true church upon the face of the earth' that to leave it is to leave your salvation behind, only Mormons teach the other extreme, viz. 'Radical Works': "Ye are saved by grace after all you can do" (Book of Mormon). The Roman Catholics and others use the same whipping boy. Only their organisation or teaching ensures salvation.

    Calvinists believe they are of the privileged élite by birth and there is nothing you or anyone else can do about it. It's a done deal that we play no part in. Nor can those going to the Calvinist hell do anything about it either. It was all decided beforehand. We are just press-ganged actors in the drama called earth-life.

    Consequently, the Calvinistic idea of predestination, which is a form of Islamic-type fatalism, guarantees a certain amount of loyalty to the exclusivist cult that promotes this kind of doctrine, a reason you will hear Calvinists proclaiming that "Calvinism is the Gospel, and the Gospel is Calvinism". It is a convenient doctrine for those who are born into it, which is most Calvinists - only a tiny few actually convert to Calvinism who understand what it really teaches.

    Calvinism is markedly similar in its mind-numbing effect to the 'Chosen Ones' indoctrination of the Illuminati. What Calvinists fail to grasp is that "grace and works go together like the top and bottom of a moving wheel" (Sarah Pomeroy). Elohim (God) has His part and mankind has its part.

    See the links above and below for further clarification of the biblical teaching.

    SOME MESSIANIC CONSIDERATIONS...

    Many Calvinists like to argue on a logical level for Limited Atonement on the allegation that if Christ died for all (as Scripture indeed tells), that would pit His will against the Father's and present disunity in the Godhead, since (according to Calvinists) the Father doesn't want to save everyone.

    That is, of course, a non sequitur (it doesn't logically follow). Christ dying for everyone does not assure everyone will be saved. It assures that everyone can be saved if they want to be. The creation of the polio vaccine did not assure that everyone would be free from the ravages of polio. It assured that everyone could be. Likewise the mayim chayim (water of life) is free to one and all (Rev.22:17). Only in Calvinism is the cross a 'placebo' for the vast majority of humanity.

    Thus Christ dying for all does indeed assure salvation for all whether you are an Arminian or a Universalist, the difference between the two being in the understanding of the nature of hell and created time. Either way, contrary to the teaching of Calvinism, the cross will only be availing if you personally choose to come to the cross.

    Calvinists like to argue that if Christ died for all men's sins that they should be atoned for when they die since Elohim (God) cannot be just in punishing them for the sins He laid upon Christ on the cross. First of all, no one is saved merely by the atonement of Christ. That Yah'shua (Jesus) died on the cross or shed His blood saved no one. We are saved by grace (undeserved loving kindness, unmerited favour) through faith in the saving work of Yah'shua (Jesus) (Rom.3:23-26). Scripture is clear that we are justified by faith (Rom.5:1; Eph.2:8-9).

    If Christ died for the 'elect' only then it logically follows that the elect are born saved, regenerated, and sinless. Yet all Calvinists agree that they were sinners and now are saved by grace through faith. How can this be if Christ died for their sins on the cross and paid their sin debt? How can Elohim (God) place the sins of the elect on Christ and then still call people to repent of sins that He has already forgiven them and did not see because they were in Christ? It is illogical.

    Also, atonement, by itself, saved none. It is faith in Christ that saved. In this sense, Yah'shua (Jesus) is the Saviour of the whole world in that He died for all and made provision for their forgiveness (Provisionism) but He saves only those who believe (1 Tim.4:10). Only those who appropriate His atonement are redeemed and forgiven.

    Which brings us to the messianic element and question: did the killing of the lamb alone save all at Pesach (Passover)? Or was there more to it? Did those that faithfully put the blood on the doorposts save themselves by putting it there? Was it Yahweh's sovereign plan that He alone would save those who had faith in the application of the blood of sacrifice? Yahweh chose to sacrifice Yah'shua (Jesus) on Pesach (Passover) as the Lamb of Elohim (God). Should we expect that His plan is any different than before? Were not the Old Covenant sacrifices shadows of what was to come in Messiah?

    The same divine tavnith or pattern applied to Yom haKippurim (Day of Atonements) as well as the Cross. Romans 5 (in the Greek) clearly states that the group for which Yah'shua (Jesus) died was the exact same group under the curse of Adam, which is all mankind. The gift must be accepted according to how Elohim (God) has offered it.

    Thus the application of the atonement is for Yahweh's covenant community, as is the Passover for those with faith. Justification is always dependent on covenant faithfulness.

    Yah'shua (Jesus) is the Lamb, it is His blood, and He also says that He is the door through which man must choose to go through (Jn.10:7,9). He is the Head of the Messianic Community (Church). Believers need to be part of His Body, in Him.

    It could be argued that 'limited atonement' is true at any one particular moment of time but certainly not in the absolute, deterministic sense Calvinists mean. It is limited to the Messianic Community (Church) and to the current on-going talley of the saved who have made that choice. The Pesach (Passover) door of the Messsianic Community (Church) is covered in the blood of sacrifice. Those in the Messianic Community (Church) are in the (new) covenant and are having death passed over and their sins atoned for. But how does one enter the community of the redeemed?

    Yah'shua (Jesus) put His community (church) in the world. The covenant community is now entered by emunah (faith) and justified (declared to be in the right) by faithfulness at the last day. By Elohim's (God's) grace (undeserved loving kindness, unmerited favour) the doors of His community (church) are available to the world and they may enter by faith.

    Therefore it is for, and available to, the whole world but limited to those who choose to enter.

    COMMON CALVINIST EVASIVE TECHNIQUES

    Whenever Calvinists get cornered and want to evade your questions about their religion you will typically get one of three responses:

    • 1. Evasive maneuvers: They will say, 'You just don't understand Calvinism' with condescending remarks as if just saying that somehow proves their position or disproves your valid question;

    • 2. Logical fallacies like ad hominem to directly attack you personally instead of dealing with the topic of discussion/contention; or

    • 3. They change the subject entirely and try and redirect topic to another one of their 'begging the question' type claims so you don't stick on them about the point they can't answer for.
