    11. The Revised
    Calvinist Version of the Bible

    Continued from Part 10

The 'Revised Calvinist Version' (RCV) is not really a printed translation that you might find at your local Christian book store. Rather, it a translation of the concepts which Calvinists might see when they read the words which are in the Bible. Because of their belief system, what you see and what a Calvinist sees may indeed be two different things.

    Passage The Bible RCV
    (Although they read this...)
    (they instead think this...)
Matthew 1:21And you shall call his name 'Jesus' for he will save his people from their sins. And you shall call his name 'Jesus' for he will save the elect from their sins.
Matthew 15:24I only came for the lost house of Israel I only came for the elect of the house of Israel
Matthew 20:28The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many. The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for the elect.
Matthew 22:14 Many are called but few are chosen. Many are called but few are effectually called.
Matthew 24:13He who stands firm to the end will be saved. He who is saved will stand firm to the end.
John 1:12But to those who received him, who believed in his name, he gave authority to become children of God, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh or the will of man, but of GodBut to those who received him, those who were born again children of God, he gave the ability to believe in his name, who were born not because they had believed in his name but only because God had predestined them to be born again.
John 1:29Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the elect.
John 3:16For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son so that whosoever may believe in him will not perish but have eternal lifeFor God so loved the elect that he gave his only begotten Son so that the elect who can believe in him will not perish but have eternal life
Acts 16:30-31"'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' They replied, 'Believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.""'Sirs, what must I do to be believe?' They replied, 'Be saved upon the Lord Jesus Christ and you will believe.'"
1 Cor 2:14The natural man does not accept the things which comes from the Spirit God for it is foolishness to him and he cannot know because these things are spiritually discerned. The unregenerate man does not accept the things which come from the Spirit God for it is foolishness to him and he cannot understand Reformed doctrines because it is spiritually discerned.
Galatians 1:8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be anathema. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than five point Calvinism, label him an accursed Arminian.
1 Timothy 2:4This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who wills all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who wills all sorts of men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth.
2 Timothy 2:10-13Therefore I endure everything because of the elect, that they may obtain salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. Faithful is the word. If we died with him we will also live with him. If we endure we will reign with him. If we disown him he will also disown us. If we are faithless he will remain faithful for he cannot disown himself. Therefore I endure everything because of the yet unregenerate elect, that they may obtain this new birth salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. Faithful is the word. If we died with him we will also live with him. If we endure we will reign with him. If it was possible to disown him he would still not disown us. If we are faithless he will remain faithful for he cannot disown himself.
2 Peter 1:10-11Therefore rather, be diligent to make your calling and election sure for in doing these things you will never fall. Therefore rather, be reminded that your calling and election is sure for you will do these things and you will never fall.
1 Peter 3:9The Lord is not slow concerning his promise as some men reckon slowness but is patient with us not willing that anyone should perish but all should come to repentance. The Lord is not slow concerning his promise as some men reckon slowness but is patient with the yet unsaved elect not willing that any of the elect should perish but all the elect should come to repentance.
1 John 2:2And he is the propitiation for our sins, not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. And he is the propitiation for the sins of we Jews, not for we Jews only but also for the sins of all the Gentile nations.
