    Why Stay in the
    Wrong Church?
    by Edwin Morris

Sounds like a silly question, but many folk stay with a church that they know is teaching doctrine that is not of God. Why? There are many reasons: spiritual laziness, isolation, the cuppa afterwards, etc., but the main reason seems to be that we all have a longing to belong, to be part of the tribe. It’s scary out there alone, with no one else to fellowship with, and so many trade truth for fellowship and stay with a group that could lead them to destruction.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33)

Make no mistake, there is fellowship among all manner of religions and organisations around the world, but the most precious is the fellowship of those who have sought out truth and found it.

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" (Psalm 133:1)

Of course, in the process of leaving a church, there can be a lonely time while you seek for the truth. Yet this need not be the case, through it often is.

If, for example, you were to quietly read through the information we have made available to you, and still keep attending your church, you will either find our material incorrect in your eyes, or you will see that it is true. You will then act accordingly.

Do not be afraid to look and learn, for if anything is not of God, you will know, but how will you find truth, if you don’t look?

Never forget God’s people survive every age, for the Church of the Lord cannot be destroyed. The problem is, the Devil has, through his craftiness, built counterfeit churches to deceive if possible [which it is] even the elect if they are not careful.

Many will enter in through the Broad Gate, believing it to be the Narrow Gate. Many will believe in fanciful man-made traditions and fables marketed as "the gospel". beware. Read the following Scriptures warning us of the perilous dangers of false teachers.

"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

"And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

"Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."
    (2nd Corinthians 11:13—15)

"And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." (Matthew 24:11–12)

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20)

"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
"And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
"Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
"And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
"That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."
    (2nd Thessalonians 2:7–12)

Most of the so-called Christians who believe in God have become friends with the world’s ways, and have made themselves an enemy of God — most without even knowing it.

"Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."
    (James 4:3–4)

If your church does not therefore teach truth as the Bible states it, both the holy word of God and Christ agreeing — then you are enduring error. Please do not — you are in the wrong church. We have all become far too slack.

Our families are being destroyed because the preachers have forgotten to fear God’s word. It’s time to stop putting up with the wrong gospel.

"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
"Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
"As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
"For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
"But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
"For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ."
    (Galatians 1:6–12)

For Christ revealed the truth of God to His people who believed in a mixture of both law and worldly tradition.

"For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
"For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."
    (2nd Corinthians 11:2–4)

Christ told the Pharisees that they did not have the "love of God in them," therefore, surely the love of God is the thing we should most dearly want to know, and here it is:
"For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." (1st John 5:3)

        Prove all things.

"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." (Isaiah 8:20)

        And what is light?

"For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:" (Proverbs 6:23)

The more a church has its doctrine based on God’s law, the more the light of truth shall shine from it.

The more liberal the church, the more unpleasant are its fruit, and the dimmer is the light, many even to darkness.

How much light is shining in your church? Are the ways of the church grounded in the laws and commandments of God?

If not, why are you staying with the wrong church?
