Section 168
Temptations of the Church
The revelation which follows begins with an exhortation to the Presiding Patriarch to continue the important work of translation (writing the revelations) and not to get side-tracked by those who wish to prevent the Kingdom of God from growing. Satan is constantly flattering the saints with sweet words to render them lazy and ineffective. The Church is defined as those who truly repent of their sins and come to Christ. Those who come to Christ receive all of His teachings and obey them, not selecting out those which please them and rejecting those they do not like. This revelation does not imply that the Church is composed of those who have passive faith: the witness of the Bible and New Covenant revelations is that true faith is active and engaging [New York City, USA].
Translation Work Important
1. Now, behold, I say unto thee, see that thou art faithful in completing the translation work {writing the revelations} that I have given unto thee to do;
Do Not Do More than You are Able
2. Do not run faster or labour more than thou hast strength and the means to enable thee to translate.
3. Heed not those who would prevent thee, for they would that thou wouldst tempt the Lord thy God.
Listen Not to the Evil
4. Hearken not unto those whose hearts are stirred up by Satan to do evil against that which is good and virtuous;
5. Let those who love evil seek after their own after thou hast lifted up a warning voice, for such will not ask if the principles of the Gospel are true, but rather follow their own desires.
Satan Flatters with Sweet Words
6. And Satan flattereth them with sweet words, and leadeth them along the way of death until he hath accomplished his end, and hath dragged their souls down to hell.
7. Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God in any wise but thou shalt hearken to obey Him in all things.
8. I have already told you that those who belong unto My Church shall not fear. And what is My Church?
The Repentant are the Church
9. Behold, whosoever repenteth of his sins [by obeying the commandments] and cometh unto Me, the living Christ, is My Church, and whosoever declareth more or less than this, the same is not of Me, or of My Church.
10. Those who repent not, and turn against Me, are not of My Church, and must needs belong unto another church, and must belong unto he who hath created that church.
Receive All True Doctrine
11. Harden not your hearts, O My people, but receive the Light and true points of My doctrine which I am bringing forth in these last days, which doctrine buildeth up and edifieth, bringing to pass a greater sanctification in the faithful.
12. This is the Word of Him who is without beginning or end, your Saviour and your God. Amen.
