Section 110
Priesthood, a Sacred Stewardship
An extract of a revelation on the sacred stewardship of Priesthood ministry. The original revelation was addressed to several members. Only two of these have been retained for general interest as the rest were personal; their names have been substituted for pseudonyms. Forsake the world. Learn the doctrines of the Kingdom. Fathers should govern their homes wisely. The offices of Deacon and Deaconess are a high and holy calling. Priesthood officers should sustain one another in their respective ministries. Priesthood is eternal but callings are only for a season. Priesthood is not a rank but a responsibility and should never be coveted. All Priesthood officers are accountable. No one should feel pressed into a call but should obtain an independent witness; but once that witness has been obtained and covenants have been taken, he should serve the Lord with all his might, mind and strength [Oppsal, Oslo, Norway].
Forsake the World
1. Behold, I say unto My servant Jeduthun, that I have heard thy prayers and the prayers of thy wife and shall make known unto thee thy calling in the Church in days to come.
2. Behold, I, the Lord, who was crucified for the sins of the world, give unto thee a commandment that thou forsake the world [system] in every wise.
Learn the Doctrines of the Kingdom
3. Learn thou the doctrines of the Kingdom, holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience, proving thy worthiness before God and men, being blameless in all things (1 Tim.3:9-10).
4. Put thou My Cross between thee and the past and look not backwards, filling thy heart with the hope of the Kingdom and the paradise of the saints.
Fathers to Govern Their Homes Righteously
5. Rule thy household in strength and righteousness, purchasing for thyself the good degree of fatherhood, and establishing the faith of Jesus Christ, even He who speaketh unto thee now.
The Deacon
6. The office of a Deacon is a high and holy calling, My son, and hath responsibilities that have not as yet been [fully] comprehended by the saints (NC&C 113), past or present.
The Deaconess
7. Let My servant Tirzah magnify her calling as a Deaconess for in the nearness of time I shall be calling her unto new responsibilities, that her ministry may be more widely known among the saints.
8. I, the Lord, love the integrity of her heart, and her obedience to My commandments, and shall raise her up as an especial witness.
9. Let her learn the doctrines, for in days to come she shall become an especial witness of My love and grace.
Uphold One Another
10. Uphold one another in your service, that none may feel the whole burden of his ministry, but may have his hands upheld like unto Moses.
11. The greatest shall be the least; therefore let those in high and holy officesstand aside and assist those in lesser offices, that the lesser might be blessed and be freed to bless.
Callings are for a Season
12. Priesthood is eternal, but callings are for a season and shall be laid aside when I, the Lord, call for it.
13. Let none suppose that their office shall stand forever, for offices are given at that moment which is opportune for the sanctification of the officers and those under their watchcare.
Covet Not the Priesthood
14. Covet not thy office, saith the Lord, but magnify it until it is fulfilled in thee and by thee.
Free Agency
15. Free agency is a fundamental law of the Gospel and must be respected at all times.
Obtaining A Testimony of a Call
16. It is requisite that all who are called into Priesthood office first obtain a witness from Me, saith the Lord, that he may comprehend the higher law which requireth that every man should act for himself.
17. Thou shalt not condemn a man who hesitateth to receive a call through My servants because he hath not obtained a witness, but thou shalt acknowledge that he feareth the Lord and desireth to be assured in his heart that the call is of Me.
18. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and he who feareth Me, seeking to know in his own mind that I have spoken through My servants, shall be justified and respected by the Church,as one who hath comprehended the Melchizedek Law and the responsibilities thereof.
Serve With All Your Might
19. But once a man or woman hath obtained a witness, it behoveth him to receive that calling with full purpose of heart, going forth as a valiant servant and doing all in his power to be a just and faithful steward.
20. Let all be sober and consider well their doings, fearing the Lord in holiness and walking in all His statutes {comm- andments}. Even so. Amen.
