2-03. How Growth in Grace
as a Believer Shows Salvation
"Like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the Davar (Word), that by it you may grow in respect to salvation" (1 Peter 2:2).
Your salvation, in point of time, is an
event. It is past as it relates to your spiritual birth into the family of Elohim (God).
"For you have been born again, not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and abiding Davar Elohim (Word of God)". You begin the Christian/Messianic life as a babe when you are saved.
Your new life in Messiah becomes an
experience as you
"grow in grace and knowledge of our Master and Deliverer (Saviour) Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ)". The Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) led you to believe
"His precious and magnificent promises in order that by them you might be partakers of the divine nature". This new nature in you needs spiritual nourishment. As your physical body desires food, your new spirititual nature should
"long for the pure milk of the Davar (Word)".
"We are to grow up in all aspects of Him". This means giving daily
"attention to the reading of scripture".
"Be
diligent...handling accurately the Davar Emet (Word of Truth)".
You also have a new mitzvah (command) from Elohim (God). You
"ought to pray". Start the day with prayer. The Bible says,
"My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Yahweh; in the morning I will direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up". Then you are to
"pray at all times in the Ruach (Spirit)", that is,
"pray without ceasing".
Your salvation includes and requires you to make a
dedication of your body to Him. That is,
"present your bodies a living and qadish (holy, set-apart) sacrifice acceptable to Yahweh, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of Elohim (God) is". It is Elohim's (God's) will, that
"in speech, conduct, ahavah (love), emunah (faith) and purity show yourself an example of those who believe". So,
"whether then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of Elohim (God)".
"Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil".
If you sin, confess it so you can rebound back into fellowship with Messiah.
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness".
The goal of your salvation is to be
"conformed to the image of His Son". That is,
"grow in grace (unmerited favour)" and
"press on to maturity" as one in Christ.
Do you desire to grow to maturity in Messiah? Then say:
"I now commit myself to daily read the Davar Elohim (Word of God), pray, and witness for Yah'shua (Jesus), dedicating myself to assure my constant growth in grace and communion with Messiah".
