#4. Prayer for Righteous Suffering
by Jo Getzinger, Vice President, C.A.R.E., Inc.
I. Introduction
A. Not only is suffering something that the Bible warns that we will encounter as Christians, but it is also what we are called to do: "For to you it has been granted on behalf of the Messiah, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake" (Phil.1:29). "Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tender-hearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you might inherit a blessing" (1 Peter 3:8-9).
B. Survivors and caregivers both may experience some righteous suffering through intense demonic attack in the form of illness, difficult circumstances, or physical symptoms (such as headache, nausea, sharp 'jabbing' pains, difficulty concentrating, sleepiness). The source of these attacks may originate from curses sent by parts in a survivor (often unknown to the survivor) who don't yet know Yah'shua (Jesus). Other sourses may be curses sent by other persons against the survivor or the survivor's caregiver. Although the sources of curses usually remain unknown, those who experience righteous suffering have a tremendously powerful weapon to tear down strongholds through prayers of forgiveness. When those who are experiencing righteous suffering to ask Yahweh to send back His love and forgiveness to those who are sending curses, huge victories occur. Demonic strongholds are destroyed and hearts are changed.
C. The Apostle Peter tells us that through righteous suffering we receive a blessing, and we also glorify the Saviour: "If you are reproached for the Name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Ruach (Spirit) of glory and of Elohim (God) rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified" (1 Pet.4:14). (See also the article in the education book, Righteous Suffering: A Powerful Weapon of Spiritual Warfare by Jo Getzinger).
II. The Prayer
1. Defining True Deity
5.1. Dear Heavenly Father, Yahweh-Elohim, in the Name of Your Son, and My Master and Saviour, Yah'shua the Messiah of Nazareth, who was born in the flesh over 2,000 years ago, was fully Elohim and fully man, led a sinless and holy life, voluntarily died on the cross and rose again on the third day to conquet sin and death, I ask that you would break the power of all curses that are sent to me today.
2 Blessings for Cursings
5.2. I ask that you would return to the senders my love, forgiveness and blessings as well as Your blessings.
3. Glory to Yah'shua
5.3. I ask that you would receive a greater return for Your Kingdom because of this righteous suffering and that You would reduce the enemy's hold for every moment that the enemy continues to resist.
4. Constant Prayer
5.4. I leave this as a constant prayer before Your Throne until You have accomplished all that You would accomplish through this prayer.
5. Increasing Authority
5.5. I ask that You would also increase the authority of this prayer for every moment the enemy continues to resist. Amen.
