FAQ 255
Waking Up to God
NCW 53, March-April 1998
Q. What is the first thing that usually come to your mind when you wake up? And do you think this important?
As we have taught so often over the years, the content of our dream state is an important indicator of our spirituality, save when we are will with a fever and the like. As to what New Covenant Christians think and feel when they awake I am sure it is as different as the number of New Covenant Christians! And we do not always wake up as we ought to, having often neglected a word of prayer before sleeping or having failed to deal with sins committed the day before.
Speaking personally, most of the time I awaken and the first thought that comes to my mind is a prayer, something like this: “Blessèd art Thou, O Yahweh- Elohim, Lord God of Israel, King of the Universe! And blessèd is Thy Son, Yahshua haMashiach, the Saviour of the world!” I try to start my day with such a thought, placing God before every other waking thought. It is a blessèd way to wake up! I often say similar words just before I sleep.
I think every year is special for the Church just as every year is special in the life of a human being. As Christians we live in continual hope and optimism, awaiting the day of deliverance from all sorts of problems and difficulties.
But if by your question you are asking if something visibly dramatic is going to happen, then I cannot say. We have received a prophetic vision, which appears elsewhere in this publication, which suggests that something dramatic is going to happen in either the Church of the world.
