FAQ 94
Cain, Big Foot and the Bible
NCW 8, January 1994
Q. Do New Covenant Christians believe the tradition that Cain, the son of Adam, is still alive on the earth today? Do you think he is "Big Foot"?
There are various traditions about Cain including an LDS one that his curse was never to die but roam the earth until the end of time. There is, however, no evidence for this in the Bible which seems to suggest that he would be a vagabond for the normal length of a mortal human being; indeed, the Bible clearly indicates that of the whole human race, only Noah and his three sons and their four wives survived the world flood, eight souls in all. This must therefore exclude the possibility that Cain survived. Moreover, the "curse" put on Cain was a mark, in other words, some physically identifying sign to warn off people from trying to kill him (Gen.4:14-15).
Alleged photograph of 'Big Foot'
As to the identity of "Big Foot", the "Abominable Snowman" and other characters, nobody knows, or even if they really exist. If they do, then their/its identity with Cain is dubious at best and scripturally unwarranted at worst.
