NCCG.ORG FAQ 87: The New Covenant and the Virgin Mary

Q. Please would you state your ministry's position on the Blessed Virgin Mary? Do you believe in seeking her intercession with God? Do you believe she is the Mother of God? Do you believe she was without sin, like Christ?

No woman in all history has been so highly honoured as the Mother of Yah'shua (Jesus), nor has anyone been so misunderstood. The Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches have practically worshipped her, and often Mary stands in place of Christ with those who pray to her and ask her intercession. As a reaction against this almost idolatrous attitude towards Mary and the paintings and statues of her, most Protestants neglect her entirely. Messianic Evangelicals honour her as we would the prophets and apostles but we do not worship her or ask for her intercession.

A Model of Obedience and Surrender

Mary is for the Messianic Evangelical woman a model of obedience and surrender. In responding the way she did to the malakh (angel) Gabriel we see the principle of perfect submission in operation (Luke 1:26-38). She is a model prophetess, being filled with the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit), as is so plain from the wonderful Magnificat (Luke 1:39-56). As a descendant of King David and of royal blood, he was a lady of dignity, meeting emergencies and receiving the honour that came from ordinary shepherds as befitting a queen (Luke 2:8-20). She took pride in the power of Elohim (God) in her Son (John 2:1-12). At the foot of the cross we are shown a picture of a mother's deep, deep love, watching the agonies of her Son.

No woman ever had such high and holy secrets in her heart and life. She bore herself in a worthy way as the chief mother of the human race, the New Covenant "Eve". She took her place alongside the eleven apostles after the ascension of Jesus in the upper room where "they all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers" (Acts 1:13-14, NIV).

That she had an exalted position in the Messianic Community (Church) there is no doubt, but was she more than the scriptures actually say? Was she immaculately conceived? And was she translated to heaven, as the Roman Catholic Church and some other churches insist?

Was Mary Immaculately Conceived?

Wonderful example of womanhood though Mary was, she was still a sinner like the rest of humanity is proved in the Scriptures. She admitted that she was in need of a Saviour, and so in obedience to this she brought her sin offering (Lev.12:6-8) of two turtledoves to the temple, like all Jewish mothers (Luke 2:21-24). Thus she is included in the rest of the human race when Paul said: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of Elohim (God)" (Rom.3:23, AV).

Today so-called Christians bow-down to statues of Mary in direct disobedience to the Second Commandment in the Word of Elohim (God): "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them..." (Ex.20:4-5, NIV).

She is called the "Mother of God" by millions yet the scriptures teach that Mary is a creation of Christ (John 1:3) and that Christ existed long before she did (John 1:1-2).

She is declared "sinless" yet the scriptures teach that of all those born on this earth only Christ was born without sin (2 Cor.5:21) and lived a sinless life (1 Peter 2:22).

Is Mary a Mediator Between Man and Christ?

She is declared a "mediator", one through whom Christians can find intercession to her Son. But the scriptures teach that there is only ONE mediator, not two: "For there is one Elohim (God), and one mediator between Elohim (God) and men, the man Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ)" (1 Tim.2:5). She is not a "mediatrix".

So if Mary cannot intercede for you -- if Mary cannot answer your prayers -- if Mary isn't the "Queen of Heaven" -- and if Mary is not presented by some Churches the way she is in the Bible -- then is it possible that millions of people throughout the world and throughout the centuries have been praying to someone who isn't at all who they think she is? Yahweh does not play tricks on people!

Exposing an Ancient Lie

The truth of the origin of the "cult of the virgin" is quite shocking. Satan knew Yah'shua (Jesus) would leave heaven and be born of a virgin and become the Saviour and mediator between Elohim (God) and man. And so he devised a wicked plan to confuse the people into putting their trust in a counterfeit virgin that Satan created.

After Noah's flood, the survivors multiplied and built the great city of Babylon. Satan found his "Virgin" -- a beautiful witch named Semiramis...and used her to lead untold millions into hell.

The Origin of Goddess Worship

Semiramis became the Queen of Babylon and married her own son, Nimrod. Satan used both of them to create a satanic cult so powerful that it spread around the world. Multitudes looked to Semiramis as their goddess mother.

Semiramis came up with the idea of confessionals and celibacy for the priesthood. Nimrod was called by many names, including "Moloch". Babies were sacrificed in his honour. When Nimrod was put to death, the people wept.

Semiramis moved quickly to take advantage of the situation. Satan's phony virgin gave birth to another child and claimed that Nimrod had been reincarnated. The child was called Tammuz, who became the sun god, Baal.

She became a goddess with many names such as Baalti (The Madonna), the Great Goddess Mother (worshipped by the New Age Movement), Queen of Heaven, the Mediatrix, the Mother of Mankind, Astarte, etc..

As time went on, monuments of the goddess and her child appeared in many nations because when the people of Babylon were scattered to various parts of the earth, they took with them their worship of the divine mother and child.

Satan had successfully set up his own deadly religion long before Yah'shua (Jesus) was born. In China she is called Shing Moo (Holy Mother); in India, Devaki (goddess) and Krishna (child); in Ephesus (now Turkey), Diana (the mother of gods identified with Semiramis); in Egypt, Isis (goddess mother) and Horus (child); in Scandinavia, Disa (pictured with a child); in Palestine/Israel, Ashtaroth (goddess) and Baal (child) (Judges 2:13); in Rome, Venus (goddess) and Jupiter puer (child); and in Greece, Aphrodite (goddess), "The Mediatrix".

Hislop, who wrote the famous book, The Two Babylons, wrote: "Even in Tibet, China, and Japan, the Jesuit (Catholic) missionaries were astonished to find the counterpart of Madonna and her child as devoutly worshipped as in papal Rome itself" (p.20; see also, "Babylonian Mystery Religion" by Woodrow).

It is recorded that even in Africa the Great Mother and Child received divine honours (Woodrow, p.15). Worldwide, the adoration was so strong among the pagans that they would not forsake their mother goddess.

The Roman Catholic Deception

When Roman Catholicism came into existence around 300 A.D., the leaders knew if they could adopt the worship of the goddess mother into their religious system then countless pagans would convert to Catholicism. But who could replace the Great Mother of paganism? Mary the mother of Yah'shua (Jesus) was the only logical person. Little by little the worship of the pagan goddess was transferred to Mary.

The ancient Babylonian religion depicted the goddess mother as the only one who could control her son. And so the same satanic idea was incorporated into Catholicism -- Yah'shua (Jesus) is angry and only Mary can appease him...and so Catholics are afraid of the loving Saviour...and they believe only Mary can get them into heaven. As should be obvious to anyone who knows his or her Bible, this "Jesus" and "Mary" are not the Yah'shua (Jesus) and Miriyam (Mary) of the New Testament.

The Dangers of Syncretism and Paganism

Messianic Evangelicals have long been warning people of the dangers of syncretism with paganism. Yahweh warned strictly about it in the Bible. The truth of this counterfeit system established by Satan actually goes far beyond Nimrod and his mother, Semiramis, for the orginal "Queen of Heaven" was in fact LILITH, the Consort ("wife") of Satan. And SATAN was the counterfeit son! One tradition even has a story of Satan appearing to Moses and demanding that Moses worship him as the true son.

In these last days, the key to pulling all the religions together is the worship of the satanic mother goddess, Lilith, called variously "Gaia" and "G�". This is the goddess worshipped by the New Agers.

Satanic powers will impersonate Mary in future apparitions of the "virgin" worldwide, to bring the world under Satan's antichrist.

Mary Weeps Today

Mary wept unconsolably at the foot of her Son, Yah'shua (Jesus). But she is probably weeping far more now over the grand satanic deception that is robbing her Son of all the glory and placing a satanic counterfeit in her place.

May I remind you of what the apostle Peter said of Yah'shua (Jesus): "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other Name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12, NIV). The Saviour warns us of the great Babylonian deception that is sweeping away the 20th century world into a 21st century world full of blasphemy and idolatry: "Come out of her (Babylon), My people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues" (Rev.18:4, NIV).

As to the question: "What must I do to be saved", we reply, with the apostles: "Believe in the Master Yah'shua (Jesus), and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31). There is no other route to salvation.

There is only one was to heaven: Yah'shua (Jesus) said: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me" (John 14:6, AV).

Nobody else can help you: "For there is one Elohim (God) and one mediator between God and men, the man Yah'shua the Messiah (Christ Jesus)" (1 Tim.2:5).

The Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, and Others

If you have been trapped by Madonna worship, then quickly pray this commitment to Yahweh:

Dear Heavenly Father, I now see that according to the Scriptures I am not saved through the Madonna and the dogmas of my church. I reject that system of dogmas and sacraments and place my trust in yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) alone for my salvation. I have sinned against You, O Elohim (God). Please forgive me in Yah'shua's (Jesus') Name. I accept Christ's sacrifice as perfect and complete. Thank you for the full assurance of eternal life in heaven through emunah (faith) in Your Son and obedience to Your commandments. In Yah'shua's (Jesus') Name. Amen.

1. Read your Bible every day to get to know Yah'shua (Jesus) better;
2. Talk to Yahweh in prayer every day (in your own words);
3. Seek out Yahweh's people where the Bible and the fullness of the everlasting Besorah (Gospel) is taught;
4. Tell other about Yah'shua (Jesus), and
5. Be baptised by immersion, following Yah'shua's (Jesus') example (Matt.3:13-17; Acts 2:38).
