Deeper into the Truth about Truth
by 580Art-Truth2.html
Continued from Part 1
"Then Yah'shua said to those Judahites who believed Him, 'If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free'"
(John 8:31-32).
"If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My Love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in His Love. These things I have spoken to you, that your joy may be full" (John 15:10-11)
Shalom brothers and sisters, and blessing to each of you in Yah'shua, our Master...
I've just felt it laid on my heart to go a bit deeper into the Truth about Truth, and to share more about the things that has been opened to me about Truth, and its importance for our freedom...
I will be going deeper into things I started sharing in a previous article called The Truth About Truth, and I ask that you read this before reading the things wish to share here now...
John 8:32 that tells us something so important, for we are told that:
"And you will know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free".
Let's not miss a very important in this statement... the word "And". You see, this tiny word "And" tells us this verse, this statement, this Truth is linked to the verse and statement that precedes it, namely where Yah'shua tells us "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed."
You see, what we are being told is that as we abide in Yah'shua's word, we will know the Truth, and the Truth will set us free...
Oh may Yah help me to share something of how precious, how deep, how important the Truth of these verses are! In them are the keys not only to our freedom in Yah'shua, but also for every person who wants a deeper relationship with Yahweh, for every person who is trying to walk a walk of faith with Yah'shua...
To understand what Yah'shua is telling us here, we need to understand first what He means when He told us to abide. Yah'shua tells in John 15:10 that "if [we] keep [His] commandments, [we] will abide in [His] Love, just as [He has] kept [His] Father's commandments and abide in His Love."
Before anyone would want to say I am calling anyone to legalism, please consider what Yah'shua says next to us in John 15:11, that these "things [He has] spoken to [us], that [our] joy may be full"...
You see friends, the call is not to legalism, but to Love. Joy is one of the fruit that come about when Elohim's true Love is poured into our heart by the Ruach (Romans 5:5), and because of this Love being first poured into us, us being enabled to love Elohim (1 John 4:19). And it is Yah'shua that told us that "if we love [Him], we will keep [His] commandments" (John 14:15).
This means for us that as we keep Yah'shua's commandments out of love, we will begin to know the Truth, the Truth that sets us free.
Let us not forget that Yah'shua is the Truth (John 14:6)! This verse tells us that as we walk with Yah'shua in faith and obedience out of Love, we will begin to intimately know Him. To try and explain something of the intimacy promised here, it helps for us to understand that in the Hebrew language the word "know" (yada) is used to describe the kind of intimacy shared between a husband and wife.
Indeed, this Truth is also repeated and promised to us again in John 14:21, where Yah'shua says to us:
"He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself (or make myself known) to him."
John 8:31-32 also shows us in another important Truth...
That we are called to keep His commandments by faith (meaning we obey Him even before we may understand why we should do what He's asking us), and the understanding of why we are called to do something and other deeper Truths will flow after we begin to walk in obedience by faith.
David had discovered this same Truth, and expressed it so beautifully in Psalm 119:97-104:
"Oh how I love Your law [Elohim]!
It is my meditation all the day.
You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies;
For they are ever with me.
I have more understanding than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my meditation.
I understand more than the ancients,
Because I keep Your precepts.
I have restrained my feet from every evil way,
That I may keep Your word.
I have not departed from Your Judgments,
For You Yourself have taught me.
How sweet are Your words to my taste,
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Through Your precepts I get understanding;
Therefore I hate every false way."
If Yah has called you to do something, weather it be a commandment in the Scriptures or a particular calling in your life, don't wait to understand everything first before being obedient. Trust Yah, and do what He has asked you to, and as you start to walk in obedience by faith and love, your understanding will be opened.
It as we walk by faith in obedience, doing what He asks us even before we understand why, that Yahweh begins to heal and deliver us.
We see this illustrated in both the Old and New Testament:
In the Old Testament, one of the great examples of this is the story of Namaan who sought to be cleansed of his leprosy, recorded in 2 Kings 5. Can you imagine how this man must have felt when after finally hearing there was hope for him to be cleansed from his leprosy, he left his country to seek the prophet Elisha, but when he met Elisha's messenger was told to wash seven times in the Jordan to be clean?
We're told that he was furious! We read in 2 Kings 5:11:
"But Naaman went away angry and said, "I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Yahweh his Elohim, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than any of the waters of Israel? Couldn't I wash in them and be cleansed?" So he turned and went off in a rage."
But his servants came to him and ask him:
"My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, 'Wash and be cleansed'!" (2 Kings 5:13)
It was after he trusted and obeyed, washing in the Jordan seven times, that Namaan was completely cleansed from his leprosy, and rejoiced because of Yahweh's faithfulness.
An example from the New Testament of this principle is seen in John 9 where Yah'shua healed a blind man. We are told in John 9:6-7 :
"[Yah'shua] spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing."
This pattern holds true also for us... when we listen to what Yah is telling us, and step out in faith to obey, He begins to deliver and heal in awesome ways.
Perhaps there is areas in your life that needs healing... Seek Yah in prayer and seek through His Scriptures to see what He saying to you about these areas, and step out in faith to obey...
Is it perhaps your marriage? Wives, will you listen to Yah's voice and step out to submit to your husband (even if he makes mistakes)? Husbands, will you listen to Yah's voice, and step out to love your wives like Yah'shua loved us (even if she is difficult)?
Friends, let us believe the Truth, and follow Him, the One who is faithful and true. Let us listen to what He's saying to us today, and step out in faith and love to obey...
And may Yah be glorified as He shows Himself strong.
