CHURCH NEWS: BECOMING INTERNATIONAL
Summer has broken (finally) in Norway and brightened up our otherwise usually bleak winter landscape. There is much we have to be grateful for. A great deal has been happening which we would like to share briefly with our readers.
INTERNET MINISTRY EXPANDS
One of the most exciting developments has been our greatly expanded Internet ministry. Our site is visited on average about 85 times a week from all over the world -- from the USA, Australia, Japan, Poland and many other countries. The response has been overwhelmingly positive from 95% of those who get back to us. If you have a PC and are connected to the Internet, why not take a look at what our readers have been saying.
The editor is now busily engaged dealing with e-mail every day, much of which is being put up on our WebPage for your edification.
JOINT MINISTRY IN AUSTRALIA
At the end of May BCEA joined in a co-operative ministry with Daystar Ministry, Australia, to serve those churches keen to develop prophetic ministries. We are now being used to help interpret prophetic dreams, visions, etc..
NEW PRISON MINISTRY IN THE U.S.A
BCEA (B'rit Chadashah Evangelical Association) has now linked with Lee Tyler of California, a non-denominational Christian, to begin a Bible Study in some Californian prisons. The Church's, Foundational Studies of the Bible is currently being simplified for use amongst prisoners.
MARRIAGE COUNCELLING MINISTRY STARTS
Finally, in reporting our labours on the Web you may be interested to know that we have started a Christian Marriage Councelling Ministry which has now been in operation for about 3 months.
GENERAL INTERNET MINISTRIES
We are grateful to the Lord for directing us to link up to the Internet. For those of you not familiar with the background, I was shown a vision of the Internet and told to connect immediately. The result was to propel us from being a tiny local Norwegian phenomenon to an internationally-known Church. With other ministries linking to our Website, the Church's exposure is bound to increase dramatically.
LOCAL NORWEGIAN NEWS
The Zionic Quest
We are grateful for all the support we have been receiving, especially in prayer, from those interested in the Zionic quest. We shall be moving from Kadesh-gesher in about 5 weeks and pray for your continuing intercession as we lay all on the line for the Lord.
The Olive Branch Nears Completion
The Olive Branch, the Church's collection of some 460+ revelations, is nearly finished. Though we were hopelessly ambitious in originally scheduling production for the new year, we are glad to have had the extra time to not only improve content and layout (there is a huge commentary now with an extra glossary) but also to include many more revelations and visions which would have had to be excluded had we published earlier. Most exciting of all has been to see so many prophecies fulfilled in this "extra time".
God-willing, this long-awaited book (with many having already reserved copies around the world) will go to press in June before we move home. Estimated date of going on to the market: mid- to late-July.
Cooperative Ministry with the Norwegian Gospel Centre
Beginning this month, BCEA will be supporting the activities of Evangeliesenter ("Gospel Centre") under the leadership of Ludvig Karlsen and his wife. This is a traditional Pentecostal Church which has done a fantastic job in helping drug- addicts, alcoholics, and the like, which the Lord has blessed richly. Our intention is to help initially by assisting with their building program by lending material support. This Church has built many rehabilitation centres across the whole of Norway and brought many lost souls to Christ who otherwise might have died from drug overdoses. Ludvig is himself a former addict and has a daily TV ministry. This is also one of the few Churches in Norway which has said a definite No to the New Life churches with their mish-mash of Christianity, New Age techniques, and materialism.
This is the second local ministry that BCEA supports. We occasionally lend support to a non-denominational street witnessing team called Småfolk ("Little People") under the leadership of Thor Granlund and were instrumental last year in helping them set up their own printing press.
MOLDOVA MINISTRY NEWS
As most of our readers know, the Christian Mission, Moldova, is a member of BCEA which we try to support the best way we can. Their leader, Vasily Ermarkov, is expected to be released from prison and needs some material support from anyone who can help. We are also encouraging the Mission to cooperate with the local Baptist Church in Chisinâu, the capital of Moldova as this evangelical fellowship has recently received state recognition. (Moldova is basically an Eastern Orthodox country, like Russia, Ukaine, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Greece).
CYCLONE-DEVASTATED ORPHANAGES STILL NEED HELP
Our orphanages in south India, devastated by cyclones at the end of 1996, still need your support. The local (Hindu-dominated) government has become obstructive which means that the bi-annual funds we sent last January still have not been released. We are concerned that corrupt bamk-officials may have stolen the last installment.
Accordingly, we have opened a new account in India which will, we hope, alleviate the problems we have been having.
So we send out this appeal for your help -- any money for building new shelters, clothes and food can be sent to:
ENGLISH AND NORWEGIAN BIBLE STUDY COURSE
As soon as the Olive Branch is at the printers it is our hope to quickly produce new editions of Foundational Studies of the Bible in both English and Norwegian so that a new Bible Ministry can be started both at home and abroad. This will be a revision of the very successful and popular first edition which was reprinted several times.
BULGARIAN GUEST
We shall be welcoming a Bulgarian member, M. Karchinova, this summer to a fortnight's fellowship. Whilst the Church is numerically small this will probably be the main method of evangelism and training until missioners can be send abroad.
INVITATION TO COLORADO
The Church has been invited to teach and preach in Colorado, USA following a contact made on the Internet. The policy of the Church in its present economic position is to encourage self-grown groups to begin a Bible and Olive Branch Home Study Group and, once this has reached a certain size and sufficient interest has been generated, to send over one or more instructors and/or to invite the leader of the Group to visit with us in Norway for fellowship, instruction and (as necessary) baptism and ordination.
We are also encouraging the formation of Missions or Dependent Local Colonies which can then grow in their own Spirit-directed way until they are ready for adoption as proper, fully-integrated colonies of the Church.
PRAYER AND COMMITTMENT THE KEY!
Prayer and personal committment are the key to the long-term prosperity of this Church and we encourage all our members, supporters and friends to engage anxiously in intercessionary ministry. We are moving forward, praise God, and seeing many fruits. The 10 years of preparatory toil was not in vain!
May you, the reader, be blessed as you catch a vision of this work and find your place in the Body. There is (as ever) much work to be done! Put on the yoke of Christ and labour joyfully for the Master.
