Messianic Evangelicals in Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe

Posted by Alfred Mwenifumbo on July 11, 2009 at 11:21am
    in Southeast African Group

I am wondering if you can help me to be linked with anybody that you know with similar basis of faith as that of messianic evangelicals. My family of 7 (5 children {21 oldest and 15 youngest) has been holding house church since 2004 and have been praying to find others in the area so we can start a church. Any idea if there are any in this region?

You are the first we have met from Malawi, brother. Your situation is fairly typical at present. We have contacts in Kenya and Rwanda which are the nearest to you, I'm afraid. Hopefully we will be able to draw others from your country to this group and network - we must ask Yahweh to assist us in doing that - He is more than able to lead people here and to you.

So Father we are petitioning you to lead Malawians, and especially Malawians in Alfred's area, either to this network or to Alfred or both as we seek to build the Kingdom up to your glory, in Yah'shua's Name. Amen.

Thank you brother Lev for your encouraging assurance.
One of my visions is not just to sit and wait for people to come forward but to be proactive by reaching out to others. Over the years especially before we moved to Mzuzu in 2005 (for we have lived in Lilongwe most of our life), I have shared with many people the truth about key issues of the new convenant including the Sabbath, the festivals, the 10 commandments etc and have had a range of responses and reactions - both positive and negative. From these responses as well as from those who have read my book (for I have written a small book in which I have shared my Messianic beliefs - I printed 150 copies locally due to financial limitations) I know that there are many who share in this truth and hence our plans to extend our house church to others initially. Please share any ideas that can help us towards the establishment of a house church, say experiences of others that you have contact with.

I should very much like to see a copy of your book and possibly publish it on our website if you are interested. Are you able to email a copy? If printing expenses are not too high we might perhaps cooperate on creating some literature locally. Do you print at Lilongwe? We have all sorts of materials here which could be made available for your evangelism. In view of the prohibitive postal costs from Sweden it might pay to print locally. Anything on the NCCG.ORG website is potentially available to you for your use.

As for the mode of sharing beliefs, this will in part depend on your own local customs which may be different from ours. I am a great believer if approaching in ways that are natural to the area one is labouring in. It will also depend on different degrees of literacy. Simplification is also desirable. My son is a fantastic cartoonist and that might be a way of witnessing too. There are many possibilities. I also think story-telling is a most effective way in Africa to illustrate biblical truth, like the one about the chief who had ten sons and who went away, putting his servant in charge. The servant had one of the ten sons locked in prison (the sabbath) and installed his own son (sunday worship) in his place.. When the chief returned he enquired after his missing son... you get the idea. This is something we could put our heads together on with some feedback on local ways.

Let us know what printing costs are like (converted to, say, Swedish Kroner, US $ or UK £).

Yes I would be glad to send you a copy of my book via email - I will zip it up. It is titled "From Babylon to Jerusalem". Thank you very much for the offer to explore the possibility of printing the book and also some of your books on the website locally and set up a local literature outlet. I have read some of your books/materials on the web several times and would love to print them locally and also if possible translate them into the local language in order to reach a larger audience. An example of the material I have read several times is "The Final Gathering". In fact this is the book that really lead me to discover your website and start loving your church/ministry. As many in my society do not have access to internet, hard copy literature would be a great answer and having them in local language would be even more appealing to the majority of the population of Malawians. I will check the printing costs and communicate to you accordingly. Yes, let put put our heads together on this as it may be one key methods of exposing many to the truth of the Word of Yahweh through literature evangelism.

Please find my book titled "From Babylon to Jerusalem" attached herebelow as I had indicated in my earlier message on the Southeast African group. It is also an expression of what I believe in line with the messianic evangelical faith. Let me hear your feedback on whether it is (or part of it) is fit to be published on the website

    Shalom,

I can´t open the file. It´s an unknown file for my computer.

Sorry I have had to remove the file. I sent a rich text format to brother Chris/Lev as we are intending to have it printed as a book here locally with the assistance of brother Chris. So you will have to wait for the full book.
    Your brother Alfred
