Sin in the Camp

Sin in the Camp
In both the old and new testament, God commands us to be holy, for He is Holy. God is the ultimate of Holiness, purity, and glory. He has always made this clear to us. One of the verses that comes to mind is this one:
Dt 23:14 For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.
God's desire for His Church today is to walk in it's midst, but far too often has to turn away. Why? Spiritual leprosy! Sin! Unclean! Unclean! We wonder how our enemies overrun us so easily, even though we cry out to the Lord for help. His desire is to help us. So what's stopping Him? Unclean! Unclean!
God's prophets, teachers, pastors, and ministers are unclean. Statistical analysts tell us that pastors spend much more time each week in front of their TV watching Godless programming than in prayer and study of the Word. Worse yet, many are addicted to pornography. Is it any wonder there is little or no manifest presence of God in our services? I think not.
Oh some of us know how to "stir up our people", many of us are entertainers and amusers. These are pitiful substitutes we use to try and disguise the obvious that God is not in our midst. Worse yet He has not been there for quite some time.
Let's look at another passage from the Book of Joshua:
Joshua 7:1BUT THE Israelites committed a trespass in regard to the devoted things; for Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the things devoted [for destruction]. And the anger of the Lord burned against Israel.
One man in the army of Israel disobeyed God's clear instruction and caused the anger of the Lord to burn against the whole nation of Israel. Now, I have to ask you, does our sin impinge on His mercy or what? God has such an incredible adversion to sin, that just one sin caused loss of life and battle, and the favor of God was withheld. UNCLEAN!
11 Israel has sinned; they have transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. They have taken some of the things devoted [for destruction]; they have stolen, and lied, and put them among their own baggage.
Even though only one person transgressed God's commandment, the whole nation suffered loss. Is it any wonder that ICABOD is written over the door of most churches, "the Glory of the Lord has departed". The really sad thing is that they do not know He is missing. But wait, there's more:
12That is why the Israelites could not stand before their enemies, but fled before them; they are accursed and have become devoted [for destruction]. I will cease to be with you unless you destroy the accursed [devoted] things among you.
If you read the rest of the story, you realize that the one who sinned confessed and was stoned to death. Then the favor of the Lord returned. Do you want the favor of the Lord to return to the Church today, beloved? REPENT. Behold, He's standing at the door knocking. REPENT. Cleanse the house of the Lord. Let judgement begin in the House of the Lord. Not the meeting house, dear saints. Let the cleansing begin in the heart.
I read a report some years ago that a nationally known charasmatic preacher held a ministers conference in a major US city. The hotel association reported that pornography purchases in hotel rooms rose 85% during the conference. If there is that much sin in the puplpit of our churches, what about the sheep? UNCLEAN! UNCLEAN!
Sickness and disease is abouding, financial calamity everywhere. We have leadership in this country who is bent on the complete destruction of our national values, ethics, and constitutional stability. Dictatorship is all but a present reality. He and his administration has one goal in mind, complete world domination and powerbase. Why? Because the church of Jesus Christ, or so they call themselves, has stood by and done nothing. They were for the most part more concerned about comfort, pleasure, entertainment, and amusement.
God did not correct the sin problem in the camp of Israel. The leadership had to do it. First they had to make it known that someone had sinned. Then the sinner fessed up. Then the judgement and punishment that God required was applied, and God's presence among them was restored. We see this over and over in the Old testament. God simply cannot prosper disobedience and any manner of unGodliness.
Saints, there is sin in the camp. Our prayers fall in our faces. Our children are falling from grace. There is a famine of the Word of God. We fathers have failed to teach the Word of God to our children. I'm not talking about church fathers. I'm talking about family fathers. Failures. Why? Because our own lives are polluted with the riches and cares of this world. We are led by our carnality instead of the Holy Spirit. We have idols in our midst. We will not judge them and cleanse the house. So therefore, God cannot dwell among us and prosper us spiritually. Worse yet, we have to audacity to ask Him "what's wrong"? Oh my.
It's time we all go back to the Cross, and die. We must repent. Not say "I'm sorry", but turn from our wicked ways and turn back to our Holy God. Repentance, it's truth and importance must begin in the pulpit, beloved. Sin must be preached from the pulpit. Holiness and Godly living must dominate our message, or we are blind leading the blind. Peril never known before to this generation is lurking just ahead. We shall not avoid it, unless we repent.
I trust that the Holy Spirit is speaking to you about all of this. I hope that you will welcome His very close scrutiny. God said He has set before us "life and death". We must choose. God tells us to choose "life". What will you do? What will I do? I choose life. I choose to obey the clear Word of God, and stop making excuses about my flesh. I choose to mortify the deeds of the flesh, and not dig them up again. I pray you will do the same. I pray you will then ask others to this as well. Cast down anything and everything that is between you and God. Lets reconnect to His Life and Glory through the shed blood of His Holy Son. Let's put God on the throne of our heart and guard His position day and night. Then we will see the church come alive again, and the powers of darkness destroyed. Will you be a lover of God, or a lover of pleasure? We each have to choose. Don't let flesh deceive you. Ask the Holy Spirit to look real close, and show you even the smallest flaw. Then repent of it, and ask God to put the will and the desire to do His good pleasure back into your heart. Then go shout if from the housetops! Amen? Amen.
In awe of His mercy and grace,
Lahry
