Do Lunar and Solar Eclipse point to Christ’s Return?

    Posted by Lev/Christopher on April 1, 2009 at 6:10am

    From: http://stevenmcollins.com/WordPress/?p=484

MLT has no official position on the speculations in this material...

A reader recently sent you a video evidencing a series of lunar and solar eclipses to occur in the future. You stated you liked it cause it doesn’t give (or imply a date). But shouldn’t we know the season of our Lord’s return. The link I am providing explains the phenonemon in detail.

Basically four lunar eclipse will occur consecutively and all appear on Jewish Holy days!

    Passover, April 15, 2014
The Feasts of Tabernacles, October 8, 2014
    Passover, April 4, 2015 and
The Feasts of Tabernacles, September 28, 2015

This is a rare occurance for four lunar cycles to happen on successive Passover and The Feasts of Tabernacles (Sukkot)observances. However it happened twice before in the 20th century.

The first set occured in 1949 - 1950 the year after Israel became a state!

The second set happened in 1967 - 1968, the year Israel liberated Jerusalem!

Before these dates it happened in 1493, the year after Columbus sailed the ocean blue and Spain expelled all Jews.

What was God telling the beleagured Jews? That He was fully aware of their circumstances! What was God telling the Jews in 1949 and 1967?

Looking at the next 7 years, we wonder what is God telling Israel through the upcoming lunar eclipses?

In addition to the four lunar eclipses in 2014 - 2015,there will be 2 solar eclipses. “The sun shall be turned into darkness…(Joel 2:30, 31)

    Adar 29/Nisan 1, March 20, 2015
The Feasts of Trumpets, September 13, 2015 Partial eclipse

These dates are significant and are special days in the Jewish calandar. Nisan 1 is the first anniversay of the Exodus. Nisan 1 also marks the beginning of the religious festival cycle.

“And a fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten,…(Rev. 8:12) The idea that a third of the sun is smitten may be a reference to a patial eclipse.

More solar eclipse will occur on Av 1 (Av is a month in the Jewish calandar)

    Av 1 - August 1, 2008- partial eclipse
    Av 1 - July 22, 2009 - partial eclipse
    Av 1 - July 11, 2010 - partial eclipse

The first day of Av is in the middle of the time period when the Jewish people mourn the destruction of the Temple of God. Historically Moses descended from Mt. Sinai with the two tablets of the Ten Commandments, and found the people engaged in gross idolatry at the foot of the mountain. That was on Tammuz 17. Also, on Av 9, the Hebrew spies returned from spying out the land of Canaan and brought an evil report and the people lost faith in God, and were condemned to wander 40 years in the wilderness (Numbers 14:34). Av 9 also commemorates the date of the destruction of the first Temple by Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon in 586 B.C., and the second Temple by the Roman general Titus on the same date in 70 A.D.

These two dates are days of infamy in Israel. The three week period between Tammuz 17 and Av 9 are called between the straits and are days of mourning, repentance, and lamentations.

How interesting that a solar eclipse will fall on the date of Av 1, in the middle of mourning and lamentation, three years in a row!

Why did God create the stars in the heavens in the first place? We read one significant answer in Genesis, the first chapter.

Moses wrote: And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as SIGNS to mark seasons and days and years (Genesis 1:14, NIV).

The word for sign here, in the Hebrew, is owth, and means a signal, as a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, etc. The word for seasons is the Hebrew moadim and means festivals, literally, appointed times.

Gesenius’ Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon points out that this word means a sign, a token (Exo.12:13; Josh.2:12), signs and times (Gen.1:14), i.e., signs of times. It is used of a military ensign, a sign of something past, and a sign of something future, a portent, as well as a sign of anything which cannot be seen.

    For seasons , Strong s Concordance has an appointment, i.e. a fixed time or season; spec. a festival. Gesenius has it, (1) a set time, . . . (2) an assembly . . . (3) a place in which an assembly is held . . . (4) an appointed time, a signal.

Thus heavenly bodies, and the periodic return of comets, and celestial meteor showers, and eclipses, can be, in Biblical terms, a heavenly sign ! Yeshua spoke of such signs occurring before His return to planet Earth. When such a sign occurs on a moad or moadim, or Festival of God, it is especially significant.

Jesus Christ Himself said, referring to the days before His second coming: And there will be fearful sights and GREAT SIGNS from heaven (Luke 21:11, KJV). Christ went on, And there will be SIGNS in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars . . . (Luke 21: 25).

What are your thoughts Steve? Are we headed into a 7 year tribulation?

    yours in Christ
    Frank

    MYREPLY

    Frank,

Thanks for sending me your comments re: the discovery by a Pastor Mark Biltz in Washington State that predicted eclipses of the moon and sun point to the possibility of the Lord’s return in the 2014-2015 “season” of time. As you noted, I addressed this possibility in a previous blog. Your commentary confirms the importance of an impending conjunction of eclipses in 2014-2015 and their possible role in fulfilled prophecy. I’m posting your comments and a web link you sent which examines this subject in detail. Since Genesis 1:14 states that God made the heavenly bodies for giving mankind “signs and seasons” as well as marking the passage of days and years, the remarkable conjunction of eclipses in 2014-2015 needs to be considered seriously by Christian/believers. The link you sent is an article by Bill Dankenbring of the Sabbatarian Churches of God and it also cites the discussion of J.R. Church, an Evangelical Christian, on this same subject so this subject should interest many readers of my blogs.

Many Christians and non-Christians alike are getting excited about the year 2012 signaling some kind of “end” to our age and the beginning of a new age. This is based on the Mayan calendar and also the apparent alignment of the earth’s solar system with the central axis of our galaxy. I’d like to comment on this expectation as it has a possible, important bearing to the 2014-2015 eclipses. The Bible also prophecies that a beast and false prophet system will arrive in the latter days and it will arrive prior to the return of Jesus Christ/Yashua. This beast system will last 42 months or three and 1/2 years (Revelation 13:1-5). The Creator “keeps time” according to his sacred calendar and Holy Day observances, not according to man’s calendars. While man’s calendars expect great events in 2012, the predicted eclipses on biblical Holy Days on God’s calendar in 2014-2015 should tell us the 2014-2015 time period is more likely to be significant for the return of Jesus Christ/Yashua. What might happen in 2012 is that we will see the advent of the beast system in that year, and that very beast system will be “terminated” 42 months later. If the beast system arrives on the world scene in the Spring of 2012 (the approximate time of the Spring Solstice and the biblical Spring Holy Days), the passage of 42 months will bring us to the time of the Fall Holy Days on God’s biblical calendar in the year 2015. One of the lunar eclipses in 2015 falls on the Feast of Trumpets on September 13, 2015 and a solar eclipse occurs soon afterwards during the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) in September, 2015. I Thessalonians 4:16-17 prophesies that the return of Christ and the resurrection of the dead will occur just after the blowing of a great “trumpet” of God. Is the return of Jesus Christ due to occur on or soon after the Feast of Trumpets in 2015?

If this is God’s timetable (and notice I said “if”), then the world could be expected to enter a climactic seven-year period of time in September, 2008. That month was exactly the time in which the “good times” ended and the global economic system almost collapsed and global investment markets plunged. Maybe this event marked the beginning of the final seven years, and signaled that the fall of Babylon the Great is near. Revelation 13:1-5 not only mentions the arrival of the 42-month long beast system, it adds that the “seven heads and ten horns” will accompany the advent of this beast system. The same “seven heads and ten horns” are prophesied in Revelation 17:9-18 to overthrow the global economic system of Babylon the Great and replace it with the new beast system. As those of you know who have been reading my prophecy blogs, the current usury-based system of Babylon the Great is teetering on the edge of a cliff. With Russia and other nations now calling for the end of the US dollar as the world’s global reserve currency, the fall of Babylon the Great (and its usury-based, dollar-based financial system) could occur at any time. The stage is set now for the collapse of Babylon the Great and the rising up of a new global beast system. We simply have to wait for it to happen. Babylon the Great’s system may fall soon or it may struggle on to fall later half-way through the final seven-year period so the beast system can dominate the world for the last half of the final seven-year period.

It is also worth noting that if we entered the last seven years of our age in September, 2008, then that same month marked the end of a previous seven-year period of time which began with the collapse of the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. Hmmm. This also leads to a possible biblical precedent. In the time of Joseph, there was a pivotal time when seven prosperous “boom” years in Egypt were followed by seven exceedingly difficult years when famines and great problems occurred (Genesis 41). The period of September, 2001-September, 2008 may be remembered as a prosperous “boom” time of seven years in much of the world when there was prosperity and the investment markets boomed and prospered. The world investment markets almost “melted down” in September, 2008 and we remain in a period of increasing stresses in global political and economic institutions. Have we entered a final period of “seven lean years” of trials in which will occur the collapse of Babylon the Great, the rise of the beast system, the ministry of the Two Witnesses, famines, wars, plagues, etc.? We will soon see.

Concerning your question about a “seven year tribulation,” keep in mind that while the Great Tribulation of Matthew 24:21 will climax the final seven years, the “Great Tribulation” may not include the entire final seven years. That final seven years will also include some kind of a phony “millennium” (or “New Age”) in which the world thinks everything is going to be peaceful and happy (I Thessalonians 5:2-6), but which actually ushers in a time of “sudden destruction” (perhaps the Great Tribulation itself).
