Go The Extra Mile
Posted by Lev/Christopher on June 4, 2009 at 12:47pm in Pastoral Group
David had never fought a giant. He had never raised an army. He did not grow up in a house of royalty. Yet, he was Israel's greatest warrior and king.
David was willing to stretch his faith. He was willing to leave his comfort zone to accomplish what he felt compelled in his heart to do for Yahweh. As a result, Yahweh promoted him to the highest office in the greatest kingdom of his day.
Failing to stretch yourself will result in the inability to know your true potential.
Those who stay in their comfort zone will never go beyond the norm. The norm is not good enough. The norm will not reach a lost world. The norm will not take a world that is bent on spiritual ruin and turn it's heart to Yahweh.
Normal is not good enough. Ordinary preaching will not have a lasting or life changing effect. Routine religion is dead religion. An average assembly is a limited assembly.
Though there be comfort in the common, complacency, contentment and self-righteousness dwell there too.
Go beyond the 4 walls of the standard. Flee it's constraints. Break free from it's hold on your life and ministry.
The account of your life has not been written yet. The end of your story has yet to be penned. You have promise. There are still endless possibilities to the effect your ministry can have on the lives around you and world at large.
Get a vision that's bigger than you are. You won't become great by chasing small things. Go after something big. Find a giant to taunt. Heckle a devil that is keeping you from the Promises of Yahweh in your life.
Become a Giant-killer. Go the Extra mile.
