The Little Things in Relationship-Building
Posted by Lev/Christopher on May 5, 2009 at 7:48am in Inspirations / Devotionals
It’s not the big things that you do, it’s the little things. If you will make more compliments, lower your voice, better listeners. Study the people YAHWEH brought into your life. Your friends, job, what frustrate them, what they need. Some need encouragement, space, compliments, ask them how they are doing are they ok.
Study the people you are in a relationship with. Find out what they need. Their likes and dislikes. In the long run you make your and their life much easier, which make it easier for your relationship. Tension in our home we sometimes bring on our self. If your spouse had a hard day at work be sensitive. Wait until the right time, don’t say honey the dishwasher broke etc etc.. Timing is everything. You can say the right thing but it can be at the wrong time.
Sometimes a simple explanation can keep tension out of our relationship. For example let them know my shoulder is hurting or I do not feel good in that way they know you are not feeling good. What can I do to make it better in my life and relationship? Pay close attention to the people you are in relationship with. Find out what they need not what we need. Sometimes we give people what we need and not what they need. Listen to what they are saying. Read between the lines. Let each other know you appreciate them. Be a good listener. Stop what you doing and give them your undivided attention.
There is a difference between hearing and listening. Don’t interrupt them let them finished what they are saying before you jump in and finish the sentence for them. When you come home show your family for the first few minutes that you care. Ask them how they are doing? Make them a priority when you get home. Keep a stressful atmosphere out of your home. Watch the way we say things, body language, facial expression. Keep a pleasant demeanor. Give respect and you will get respect back in return.
