    Pass over!

Matthew 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

A few days ago we celebrated the holiday of Pesach (Passover), the day we remember Yahweh’s merciful redemption of the Israelite people from Egypt. When the final plague struck Pharoh and the Egyptians in Exodus, those who were spared were were the ones who applied blood to their doorposts as Yahweh warned. Interestingly, the blood that Yahweh required them to apply then was the blood of a spotless, unblemished lamb.

As believers in Messiah, we are blessed to have the blood of Yah'shua (Jesus), our Passover Lamb, applied upon the doorposts of our hearts. The judgment we deserve has passed over us! And thankfully we can celebrate His redemption in our lives as well this season.

While this is a special time to celebrate Yahweh’s passing over our sins, there is one thing we sometimes overlook. Not only should we remember Yahweh’s passing over our sins, but equally important is our obedience in passing over others’ sins. Forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. This is the way Yah'shua taught us to pray, is it not? Today we have the opportunity to make this prayer a reality in our lives.

Has someone offended you? Committed a sin against you? It happens, and unfortunately, it will probably happen again, as we live in a world full of sin. But we need to pass over those offenses just as Yahweh has passed over ours.

Passover is the season to give our hurts to Yahweh. Let’s allow Him to heal and free us, and those we’ve hurt and who’ve hurt us. We have been forgiven many offenses by the innocent blood of our Messiah. How much more should we forgive?

Great article, Chris. Too often we will not forgive until we see the blood, the blood coming from the nose of the person we sought revenge of. What good is a passover like that? True passover is the glory of the Gospel. We deserve to be beaten to hamburger and then thrown out to be trodden under foot. But Yahweh........oh thank You Adonai. MERCY is our cry to the Lord for our own hides. How about crying out for mercy for those who offend us, say unkind and/or untruthful things about us, spit in our faces, curse our wives and children. How about mercy for them?
The character that has always stood out to me in the Exodus story is that of Dathan. Though a scoundrel in the first degree, his life was spared because he was in a home where the blood was applied. The death angel did not look at the nobility of the people inside, but only for the blood. Of course Dathan was among the group that was swallowed up in destruction later on when hell received them body and soul.
God bless you my brother. It is a joy for me to be in your fellowship.

    Shalom,

    Lahry

Good thoughts, especially about Dathan. Given me lots to chew on....
