    Christian & MLT Creeds Threads

To discuss the creeds in use in Christendom and to compare them with the Scriptures of the Protestant Canon and the articles of faith of MLT.

    Website: http://nccg.org/01BC-ApostlesCreed.html

      THE APOSTLES' CREED

MLT has only one formal Creed, the Apostles' Creed which is common to all Christendom. The core teaching of MLT is that Christianity is a faith based on a relationship with Yahweh as a Person. That faith involves a personal committment to Yah'shua haMashiach (Jesus Christ). New Covenant Christianity begins with Yahweh's initiative -- He steps in to make men and women right with Himself. New Covenant Christians believe that as perfect Elohim and perfect man, Yah'shua haMashiach (Jesus Christ) is the link that brings Yahweh and people together (1 Tim.3:16; Phil.2:5-11; Jn.14:6). This core doctrine is amplified further in the Apostles' Creed which also forms a part of the New Covenant Liturgy which states:

    1. We believe in Yahweh-Elohim, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth[1].
    2. We believe in Yah'shua haMashiach (Jesus Christ), His Only Begotten Son, our Lord[2].
    3. He was conceived by the power of the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) and born of the Virgin Mary[3].
    4. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried[4].
    5. He descended to the dead[5].
    6. On the third day He rose again[6].
    7. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty[7].
    8. He will come again to judge the living and the dead[8].
    9. We believe in the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit)[9],
    10. the universal Body of Messiah[10],
    11. the communion of saints[11],
    12. the forgiveness of sins[12],
    13. the resurrection of the body[13],
    14. and the life everlasting[14]. Amen.

If this is a commentary on the Apostles Creed specifically, you might like to posit the questions in the Apostles Creed thread/discussion which you'll find listed above.

The word translated "Lord" in relation to Yahushua - is it actually Rabbi? Considering the instances where it is left untranslated, Rabbanan and Rabbuni - Perhaps Teacher would be a good translation.
It has a different ring to it than Lord or master, slightly different implication.

    Secondarily --

Did he rise ON THE THIRD, or after three days and nights?
Yahushua himself references Jonah who, if the Scripture in both instances is correctly translated, was also three days and nights in the belly of the sea-beast:

    Matt. 12:40
"for, as Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights, so shall the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights."
