Avi ben Mordechai - Millennium 7000 Communications

Avi ben Mordechai became prominent in the Messianic movement after the publication of his book, Galatians: A Torah-Based Commentary in First-Century Hebraic Context which has become virtually "gospel" for many messianics. It certainly makes many claims. Initially buoyed with enthusiasm (it is easy to be overwhelmed by the shere intensity of his scholarship), I soon came to realise that there was an agenda and a background doctrine that the author was trying to superimpose on his interpretation of Galatians.
Areas of Concern
1. He appears to be of the school that claims everything "Christian" is bad which this ministry utterly rejects;
2. He is a modalistic monarchist, namely, believing that there is only one Person in the Godhead who "swaps hats" between Father, Son and Ruach (Spirit), which is the doctrine of the Book of Mormon and other fringe groups. In short he is implying that Elohim (God) has MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder). He writes:
"Q: Do you believe in the Trinity?
A: No, for the simple reason that it is impossible to reconcile this idea with that of what Hebrew Scripture teaches about the ONENESS of YHWH in Deuteronomy 6:4-10. However, according to Written Hebrew Scripture, there is One Who calls Himself by the Name YHWH Who appears in Hebrew scripture with multiple personality characteristics such as appearing in the image of a "father"(2 Chronicles 29:10), a redeemer "son" (Isaiah 41:14, 47:4 and 63:16), a "mother" (Isaiah 66:13), and yes, even a "husband" (Jeremiah 31:3, Isaiah 54:5). In brief, the ancient Hebrew idea of YHWH is that of ONE Person revealed in multiple qualities or characteristics. Thus, I am a Monotheist, not a Tritheist." This is setting up a straw-man, perpetuating the error that Echad (oneness) means something it doesn't. I expose this false doctrine in my article, Messianic Heresies and Yaakov's, Echad, Khad and Yachid Usage;
3. He goes to ENORMOUS lengths to defend the continuation of ritual circumcision in the New Covenant by claiming that the "circumcision" that has been abolished is only the rabbinical version of it - in order (as he supposes) to defend Paul's otherwise "undefendable" doctrines in which he claims circumcision is irrelevent. Like so many Messianics, he misses the key message of Messiah which Paul so eloquently defended and expanded upon, namely, that what really matters is circumcision of the heart. Therefore, to Paul, physical circumcision was irrelevent.
