Personally, I like the first name "Malaki", and the last name "Ben Ammi", which I feel YHWH is leading me to take as an alias.

Malaki means "My Messenger", Ben Ammi means "Son (of) My People".

This is an interesting topic. I think many Messianics feel in the same way that converts from Hinduism or other pagan religions, and take Christian names.

My name was given in a prophetic revelation through another brother about thirty years ago when he was giving me a blessing. Yahweh simply said that my name was "Heart of Zion". Long before I became Messianic or even knew much about Hebrew I felt inspired to translate the name given to me into Hebrew, which is how I come to be called Lev-Tsiyon (Lev-Zion originally before I knew about more accurate translitterations).

Names anciently were usually given my revelation. That is how I believe it should sill be done. I have noticed how many Messianics take quite pompous names, which is to be regretted, some of them even sounding quite ridiculous. I think a variety of motives are to be found. All of my family have been given names by direct inspiration, the meaning of the name having so bearing on their calling, some even being given before they were conceived or born. I kn of one messianic who keeps changing his Hebrew name every time he has been involved in a controversy and another who wants to conceal his birth identity because of unresolved bad behaviour from the past. When I published both his names together he blew fuse (but then the law is after him too). I use both my names, depending who I am with. I honour my parents with my birth name and Yahweh with the one He gave me.

Isa 44:5 One shall say, I am YHWH's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto YHWH, and surname himself by the name of Israel.

Jacob ---- Redeemed by Yahushua -----> becoming Redeemed Yisrael.

What is the way, the truth, and life making it possible? We know. The Life (Knowledge+), not just Knowledge of it but rather having it first and then being shown knowledge by wisdom where there is Life.

'Redeemed Israel' = that new name of Heart, salvation Alive within. Yahushua! YHWH! Our Father in Heaven dwelling inside.

And that by the circumcision of Heart of Life becoming One/Echad together with the Living Covenant Yahushua. No other context is valid but of the whole purpose of everything being in Yahushua in remission of sin in that Living Torah of His Book Alive. Where the Life of the Word is and being and dwelling, even the Kingdom of YHWH within the Heart and it is profound in this generation to have come to love the Torah/Law of the inward man, which is actually Yahushua Himself. And to Love Torah/Law where Yahushua is the interpreter to witness of himself.

Then to understand a love for our Kingdom and that we will one day it will be where we live inwardly and outwardly.

I didn't pick my name, the first I was born with or the last of the heart within. So, that is something beyond man's comprehension and more precious to each who are shown a great thing, between Messiah Yahushua and each one.

I don't know that everyone picking a different name has that understanding but may just because it is the 'in' thing to do, but, rather where we know a new name within literally and is the same name outwardly we were given before we even knew what it meant. Named after Yisrael, 'hidden', like Joseph in Egypt, but revealed by a great Messiah who is at the right hand of YHWH. So these little pearls we may have are not thrown out to the world but we may carefully share with some only for a blessing.
