I feel the need to add a few comments regarding the alleged homesexuality of King James as I believe this is a lie. Having done a bit of research on this matter I believe that it was a detractor of King James named Anthony Weldon who first spread the lie that King James was a homosexual after being expelled from Court and that there were plenty of people around at the time who did'nt believe the lie. Today there are a fair few historians who will tell you that King James was a fool and rampant homosexual based on the writings of King James' many enemies at the time who were mainly agents of Rome. Hopefully these weblinks will shed some light on the matter:
And even if you give him the benefit of the doubt, and considering his ecclesiastical propensities and attitude toward the divine right of kings, taking the sweep of his life as a barometer of holiness, I would not think it appropriate to name a translation of Yahweh's Word after such a despot with dubious moral leanings. Better to name the AV after the translators or some other representation of them.
I still believe that the balance of evidence strongly suggests that sexually James I was not on the straight and narrow:
Finally, those who either (a) are trying to push a homosexual agenda, and (b) those who are pushing a KJV-Only agenda are not, in my opinion, the most reliable researchers and will be selective in the material they present.
The bottom line as far as the KJV is concerned is that James I wanted a Bible to replace the annoying Geneva Bible with all its anti-despotic marginal notes and was not possessed of the highest callibre of moral rectitude and therefore does not deserve to have a Bible named after him as were, arguably, James Moffatt, J.B.Phillips or other Christian scholars. His sole interest was to keep his position of power, have state control over the Church of England, and to be allowed (by virtue of his presumed divine rights) to pursue a sexual lifestyle of his own choosing.
