Hard to say as famine and inflated food prices has occurred at many times during our recent history. Rev.18:8 says that the final end-time famine will occur on ONE DAY, presumably the result of some global catastrophe such as a nuclear war, a meteorite strike, or some such thing. Though I am by no means minimising the importance or the impact of the imminent famine, I don't think it will be global and it seems to be taking place gradually. First world countries may become Second World, Second World become Third World, and Third World be struck with famine as a result of what is now unfolding. But who knows - I may be wrong.
