The 10 Steps of a Biblical Betrothal and Marriage
Posted by Lev/Christopher on September 20, 2008 at 8:30am in Forum
A very interesting modern day example of how one congregation
approaches courtship and marriage.
What do you think? Is this correct? Is there anything missing? Is it
too restrictive? Or is this truly the biblical position? (Bear in mind
this is non-Messianic). Is this how you would want your daughter to be
betrothed and married? would you, as a prospective bride or bridegroom,
wish to follow this pattern? Is it realistic in our modern world (with,
for example, fathers being in derelection of their duty and failing to
guard their sons and daughters? Is this a fullproof way of securing
YHWH's will in the selection of marriage partners? What are the
dangers? Could the father in this story have done it a better way? Was
the father's heart right? Was he over-protective? How does this
contrast with the way we have been 'taught' by the secular media? Was
this truly the Torah way?
