Profile Picture & Privacy - NCCG.ORG Ning Network Archive 2008-10

In view of the different attitudes that groups have towards this, I thought it appropriate to state our position here: whilst we would, of course, love to have a picture of you in your profile, it is entirely up to you whether you do or not. There are a number of reasons that people have for not using personal pictures and these we respect:

1. Some consider the use of personal pictures the creation of a graven image and a violation of one of the Ten Commandments;

2. Some consider the use of pictures to be vanity and would rather that they are known by what is in their minds and hearts than their physical appearance;

3. Some have phobias about having their photographs taken;

4. Some are concerned that their pictures will be hijacked by malicious persons and used to create false identities and to discredit the owners of these pictures;

5. Unmarried women in particular are concerned that they will receive unwelcome attention from not only suitors they would rather not have but from predators seeking to take advantage of them;

6. Some are here looking for confidential counselling and do not want family or friends to know that they are here.

Please know that we will respect your privacy and wish to be anonymous if you so desire.

I absolutely agree. I want to come to know everyone here, pic or no pic. It's not our physical features that join us, but it's our being joint heirs and the Bride of Yah'shua that binds us together. So ya don't have to show me your pic, but I would love to see your heart. :)
