Help me stop an abortion
Posted by Jacqui on September 10, 2008 at 2:22pm in Forum
I started a new college course today and there's a woman there that was baptized the same time as me (three months ago). I don't really know her but I sometimes see her at church. A few months ago she was saying that she's going to go man-free for 12 months and live in the Lord instead (she's a single mother too, like me). However, on talking with her today she was saying she was worried she might be pregnant again and that if she is she's going to have an abortion. She was so blazay about it I was shocked at her attitude. She was saying stuff like she couldn't live with the guilt if she had it adopted. I told her what about the guilt of murdering a child? Then she said that it wasn't alive yet. Obviously the vow to go man-free didn't last either as she was talking about her boyfriend.
I detest the thought of abortion and I can't believe this womans attitude so shortly after professing her faith in Christ. Then 1 John 3:6 came to mind. "No-one who lives in Him keeps on sinning. No-one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him."
I don't want to come across as some self-rightious Bible thumper to her but I don't know whether I should try to point out her that her intentions are totally contrary to the will of God. Not to mention the fact that she's also being sexually promiscuous. Or should I just accept that some of the seed falls on rocky ground?
Anyone got any suggestions?
