    A Blessed Teshuvah Season!

    Posted by Lev/Christopher on September 1, 2008 at 4:23am
    in Forum

    The Season of Teshuvah or Repentance began at sunset on Sunday (1 September) which corresponds to the first day of Elul and lasts until Tishri 10. Though I know this season daunts some people, this is for me the time of the possibility for GREAT CHANGE and SPIRITUAL BLESSING. During this period we celebrate (on 29/30 September) YOM TERUAH (The Day of Trumpet Blasts which prefigures the Second Coming of Yah'shua), go through the 10 Days of Awe or Yamim Nora'im and then observe the most sober of all days in the Sacred Calendar (on 8/9 October), YOM KIPPUR or the Day of Atonement also known as the Day of YHWH's Judgment, followed by the joyful celebration of SUKKOT or the Feast of Tabernacles between 12/13 and 19/20 October!

    I find that the Ruach haQodesh works in my soul in a very special way at this time of year as Yah'shua wants to get rid of the old leaven of sin and make my soul new again. Last night was VERY busy for me! More in my sermon next Sabbath but hoping you till take this opportunity to share what the Ruach lays on your hearts here as we work out our repentance with fear and trembling as Scripture prescribes!

    Could you explain this a bit better for me please, I know nothing about any of this. Thanks.
    Jacqui

    YHWH (Yahweh) our Heavenly Father ordained in the first 5 books of the Bible various moedim or "appointments" - feasts. festivals and other observations - for all time. These are:

    1. The Weekly Seventh Day Shabbat or Sabbath (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset) in which we are to cease all regular work, rest our physical bodies, and assemble/congregate to worship and study the Word;

    2. The monthly Rosh Chodesh or New Moon which was and is a type of rebirth in Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) and is additionally a time (along with the Sabbath) to consult the prophets or those with the prophetic gift. With the exception of the Sabbath (which is calculated by the sun), all the other festivals are calculated by means of the moon, so Rosh Chodesh is important for several reasons. The world follows a non-biblical calendar which is based on the sun;

    3. The Seven Annual Festivals of Yahweh which are:

    The Spring Festivals
    a. Pesach or Passover
    b. Chag haMatzah or Feast of Unleavened Bread
    c. Yom haBikkurim or Feast of Firstfruits

    The Autumn/Fall Festivals
    d. Shavu'ot, Weeks or Pentecost

    Teshuvah or Repentance Season
    e. Yom Teruah or Day of the Trumpet Blast
    f. Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement

    Consummation
    g. Sukkot, Booths or Tabernacles

    The spring festivals have already been fulfilled in the first coming of Yah'shua. The autumns/fall festivals will be fulfilled when He returns the second time.

    In the Old Covenant these festivals were accompanied by animal sacrifices which are explained in great detail in the Pentateuch (first 5 Books of Moses). These sacrifices, along with others, were all fulfilled in the death of Yah'shua on the Cross and are therefore no longer a part of the festivals, though the eating of lamb is still required at Passover.

    The purpose of the continued observance of Yahweh's Festivals are:

    1. To teach and learn spiritual principles of an eternal nature;
    2. To congregate as a people or nation (Israel) as part of identity;
    3. To be obedient to Yahweh
    4. To receive special outpourings of the Ruach (Spirit) which Yahweh sends to those who obey Him at these seasons.

    The season we are entering today is to help us prepare for Yah'shua's return. He could come at any time. Nobody knows the hour but we do know that it will be at this time of the year - absolutely. This is the time to review our conduct over the past year and get right AS A NATION (Messianic Community/Body of Christ) by Yom Kippur.

    These festivals were replaced by pagan entities (Christmas, which is a reworked Brumalia - He was, in any case, not born on 25 December - that is the birthday of the antichrist Nimrod; Easter, which is a reworked Astarte festival; Halloween, a satanist festival; Sunday observance, which is the first day of the week and a normal working day - connected with Sun god worship; Lent, etc., etc., all of which have been borrowed from heathenism).

    To understand all of this better we recommend you study the following:

    1. A more detailed overview of the Festivals

    2. Various articles and sermons on the festivals (for a more detailed ...

    3. A complete study of the Sabbath together with a detailed scriptural exegesis with lots of useful FAQ

    4. Pagan practices in the Church and a good series of movies on Christmas (for example).

    I am a bit pressed for and will try to get more up later - hope this will do for now!
