    Your Life....

Personal blog posted by Lahry Sibley on December 27, 2009 at 8:57am

I want to share a familiar text with you.

Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Without trying to prejudice your understanding, I would ask you, what does this verse mean to you. I charge you to spend a few moments contemplating what Yah'shua is saying here. They I would appreciate your valued comments and exposition if you will. Thank you.

Now Miss Deborah, you added a lot more demension to that verse. Awesome. Oh how flesh loves to defend itself. But really Yahweh needs no defense, and neither do we. We just trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. We walk by faith and not by sight. Then and only then do we know real peace, the abundancy of life that He came to give us. alleluia. thank you again for sharing. Yahweh bless you abundantly.

I think the depth of the Truth in this passage is awesome :D

On one, level it was prophetic (as all Elohim's commandments), pointing to what Yah'shua would do at the Cross...
Of how He would not seek to save His life ~ not returning insult for insult, not cursing those doing this, not hating them (and in trying to save Himself, sin, and receive that wages of sin ~ death) , but rather lost His life for His Father's sake, honouring His Father even unto death...
And He, who lost His life for His Father's sake, found it again when Father Yahweh caused Him to rise from the grave :D

I think along with the bigger scope of the commandment to us, I think its also very true in smaller things and situations ~
That theres times where we might be tempted to try and save ourselves rather than love Elohim (remembering Yah'shua said if we love Him, we will keep His commandments). It may be that we (for Christ's sake) are being slandered, and we may be tempted to try and save ourselves, our reputations, in our own strength (and in sinning there allow death to come into our lives as seperation from Elohim takes place), instead of yeilding to Elohim and trusting Him to be true and come through. It may be that doing something that would honour Elohim would mean people would hate you, or pain to come ~ if we would sin just to try and save ourselves from the pain, the wages of death, of seperation from Yah would come into our lives... But if we would trust and yeild, He promised if we would die with Him, we will also be risen with Him :D

I had a dream last night which I think illustrates this subject. I dreamed that someone I know and love who was in prison in Texas (she lives in Europe). But she had sent out a newsletter complaining about prison which made it out that she was in prison in Salt Lake City, Utah. Only by claiming to be in a Utah Prison was she able to broadcast her plight.

The dream baffled me at first so I went back to sleep. When I woke up again a little while latee Yahweh gave me the interpretation. This woman's background is Mormonism. Today she is an agnostic/atheist. she knows she is in spiritual prison but she is blaming her Mormon upbringing (and religion in general) as the reason she is not free. But the truth is her problem is "Texas" which here represents independence and wealth. Her problem is her declaration of independence from Yahweh and her belief that it is wealth that will make her happy.

After I understood the meaning of the dream Yahweh showed me a vision of lots of small teddy bears lying at the foot of the lie she believed. Her explanation is childish and it is the one she is seeking comfort from. But it is still a lie.

To lose your life (and thus gain it) is to die to self and the flesh, and to live for Messiah.

So, yes. Romans 12:1-2 still remains true :)

    Rom 12:1-2
12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
    NKJV

    and also

    Matt 6:33
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
    NKJV

We can never present out bodies a living sacrifice, nor seek the Kingdom first, until we have first submitted our heart and will to Yah'shua. They are such easy passages of scripture to cite but oh so hard to put into practice. We always fool ourselves that we are submitted when we are not. And so He asks for the rest of Self piecemeal knowing when we will be ready to yield it...usually in trial and tribulation.

We will always blame something for our ubsubmittedness but even those lies Yahweh eventually strips away.

I always love different perspectives. Thank you for sharing yours. I guess it keeps going back to Romans 12:1,2 and Matt 6:33. Life is all about Yahweh, for sure. Oh what a breakthrough when believers stop seeking Yahweh for what He has and start seeking Him for Who He is.

Such a big question brother Lahry and answerable in so many ways! For me this verse primarily speaks of the freedom we have to choose between doing what we want and what our Heavenly Father Yahweh wants - our desires, goals, plans and ambitions vs. His - and doing so that in following His we will realise every desire, goal, plan, desire and ambition which we would choose were we to have a perfect knowledge of all things pertaining to our individual existence - past, present and future.
