    Turn Your Eyes Upon Yeshua

    Personal blog posted by Scott Ledbetter on September 3, 2009 at 7:05pm

    Turn your eyes upon Yeshua

    Everyone that comes to YHVH has really gone out on a limb trusting in Him. I say this to get you to think about something that is a reality to all of His children, but to the world, it is something they never think of. The closer you get to Him, the further away from those that are in the world you get, and the more that those in the world seek to knock you off your limb so that you are back with them.

    Those who are of this world are concerned only with this world. Sure they can take a few hours a week and spend it in a church building, but the vast majority of their time is spent on their own pleasures and doing things that they have to and not with YHVH. They will stick around people who are like them and who will do as they want them to. They will attack anyone who is different and shows the difference between the world and YHVH.

    The world is one that likes people to check their brains at the door, not thinking for yourself, and if you do, you are ridiculed and put down. How many times a day do you hear of someone mocking or slamming or just in any way putting another person down? Now when you read the Scriptures, does any of that show up as something that followers of the Messiah do? “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.’ But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.” (Galatians 5:14-15) So is mocking, slamming, and putting down another biting and devouring one another, or is it showing love?

    A person can call themselves anything they want, but if it is not backed up by fact, then it is a lie. How many times have you heard someone claim something that just is not true? But when you look at a person and see that they are different, and see that they are being attacked, then exactly what is your response? Do you just stand back and let it happen to the person? What if you saw a man beating up his wife? Would you just stand back and do nothing. Or would you do what you could to stand up for the woman? What if you were related to the man, would that make a difference?

    How do you know if a person is really a disciple of the Word or not? Yeshua said, “by their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7:20) So, is the person producing fruits of: “love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23 MKJV), which are the fruits of the Spirit, or are they producing fruits of: “adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revelings” (Galatians 5:19-21a MKJV), which are the fruits of sin. The person who produces the fruits of the Spirit will not do things that harm or put down another person, but the one who produces the fruit of sin does not care about anyone else, and will attack and condemn anyone else. Also, those who produce the fruit of sin are not looking out for your best interest, because “they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of יהוה.” (Galatians 5:21c)

    If you do not know YHVH, you an not know love, for “He that loveth not knoweth not יהוה; for יהוה is love.” (1 John 4:8) They can not show you love because they do not know how to love. They only seek their own good, and not someone else’s good. They refuse to sacrifice anything to YHVH, so they themselves can not sacrifice anything for you. Would you take your children and leave them with a child molester? The molester claims they love children, but you know better, and as a parent, you know not to believe someone when they claim to love another. So just because someone throws around the words love and Christian, if their lives, words, and actions do not back up their claims, then they are liars, and since all sin brings the same judgment, the liar is just as guilty as a child molester.

    When you follow YHVH, you are walking out on that limb, in full faith, knowing that He is walking with you and will take care of you. You walk away from all the things of this world, including those who cling to this world and not to YHVH. They will say anything to keep you from doing so, but you must turn your eyes upon Yeshua.

    O soul, are you weary and troubled?
    No light in the darkness you see?
    There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
    And life more abundant and free!

    Refrain

    Turn your eyes upon Yeshua,
    Look full in His wonderful face,
    And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
    In the light of His glory and grace.

    Through death into life everlasting
    He passed, and we follow Him there;
    Over us sin no more hath dominion—
    For more than conquerors we are!

    Refrain

    His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
    Believe Him, and all will be well:
    Then go to a world that is dying,
    His perfect salvation to tell!

    Refrain
