He Listens.....
Personal blog posted by Lahry Sibley on May 26, 2009 at 8:14am
HE LISTENS……
This morning when I woke up, I woke up loved by Yahweh. (Gal 2:20) I woke up basking in His mercy (Ps 25:10). He has never given me what I deserved as a wretched weakling of a sinner, with absolutely no back bone whatsoever. Yahweh has done nothing but bless me(Dt 28:2). I have done nothing but impinge greatly on His mercy and grace. I have no idea why Yahweh would tolerate me all of these years…….unless……just maybe….. Yahweh never gives up on any of us. Yahweh has never once given up on me (Ps 57:3).
Thankfully, I’m finally to the place in my life, where I have acted upon His grace, and set my heart to honor Him by obeying His Word as best I can, no matter what the cost. Some of you know that I have cleaned my house, inside and out (Ez 37:23). I have abandoned everything that could possibly be toxic to my relationship with Yahweh, no distractions.
I want Yahweh, only Yahweh, as much as He is willing to pour in me, I want it. Why? Because, my friend, I have discovered Him to be my all in all, more than enough to fill my life to the fullest (Prv 8:21). Who, oh who could compare to our Loving Father and His Son Yah’shua? Who could take written word and make it dance for joy in our hearts and lives? Who else could find ways to confirm His love for us day by day? Only Yahweh, Holy Yahweh.
I’ve tried to feast on rocks painted gold; they only broke my teeth and my bank account. I have chased after rainbows only to find that the closer I got to them, the further they seemed to be from me. Of course there never has been a pot of gold. You knew that already, didn’t you?
I picked up my Bible this morning. I have been reading and studying the Gospel of John. Today, I began in Chapter 9, which is all about the man born blind and how the Lord Yah’shua used His own saliva, made some mud, and put it on the man’s eyes. Then He told him to go and wash in the Pool of Siloam. Siloam means “gushing forth”. The man obeyed and was able to see as well as anyone.
As you well know, it did not take the Pharisees long to find out what happened and they questioned the man intently, then his parents, then him again. What really captured my attention the most about this incredible story, and seemed to speak to me the loudest was in the verses that follow:
30-33The man replied, "This is amazing! You claim to know nothing about him, but the fact is, he opened my eyes! It's well known that Yahweh isn't at the beck and call of sinners, but listens carefully to anyone who lives in reverence and does his will. That someone opened the eyes of a man born blind has never been heard of—ever. If this man didn't come from God, he wouldn't be able to do anything."
What I have underlined in the above text just breathed into my spirit. What an encouragement, personally to me from my Heavenly Father through the Holy Spirit.
Like most church folks, I’ve lived with sin in the camp most of my life in one form or another. I, like most, patronized myself and made excuses for my weaknesses and tried to gently swept them under the blood of Messiah. Then I found out the hard way, that Yahweh chastises His children (Hbr 12:6). I paid dearly and suffered great loss because of my ignorance and selfishness. Finally, after all these years of floundering, I found out that I could not do what I wanted to do, obey Yahweh like I knew I should, without God providing the ability too.
So please don’t think that what I’ve shared with you about cleaning up my life and obeying Yahweh is anything of nobility on my part. It is all about Yahweh and His keeping His promise that if I asked Him too, He would provide the will and the desire to do His good pleasure, (Phl 2:13), keep His commandments and obey His voice.
So when I read this verse underlined above, it’s like Yahweh spoke to me personally and said, “now…..I’m listening when you talk to Me, son. (Excuse me for a moment, I’m having one of those “close encounters” even as I try and type this out for you.) Oh my……….not only is He listening, but He is filling my heart with more of Himself which only convulses me into more worship. I guess what I’m trying to say is that those who are forgiven much are grateful of much (Lk 7:47).
Saint and sinner alike, can you see what this man born blind is sharing with the entire bible reading world ever since John’s Gospel was shared? This man only needed one touch from the Hand of the Master, and His whole life was changed forever and ever. So astounding this was, that it was ever recorded for the benefit of us all. What it says is, if we confess our sins, Yahweh is able to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 Jn 1:9). But wait, there’s more! He, and only HE, can do what we could not do for ourselves, no matter how hard we tried.
He can empower us to obey Him. I said, “HE CAN EMPOWER US TO OBEY HIM”. Saint and sinner, we only need to ask Him. Even as a sinner, Yahweh will listen to that request!
Yahweh will clean up the inside. But He expects us to clean up the outside. That means that we clean our house of anything and everything that would be a distraction or a toxicicity of any kind. He expects us to throw out and cut off any occasion for the flesh. When we do this, He sees we mean business; that we were serious when we asked Him to strengthen us so we could obey. His first order is to clean up our surroundings. Don’t provide any inlet for dirt to get into what Yahweh has cleaned up.
The reward? When I speak to Him, He listens! Oh glory to Yahweh on High! He…. listens.
Beloved, please hear me. I am no one special. Yahweh is not a respecter of persons. Yahweh desires intimate fellowship with each of us. Even as believers, we try to be overcomers by attempting to be law keepers, religious. Religion does not work when it comes to keeping Yahweh’s commandments and obeying the leading of the Holy Spirit. Only faith works with God. It is only when we place our faith in Him that He then places ability to please Him within us (Hbr 11:6). Then, lovingly, He provides the will and the desire, to do His good pleasure. His good pleasure becomes our good pleasure. We enter into His rest. In His rest we find many of our struggles cease. Best of all, when we speak to Him…….He listens! Oh happy day.
I want to close this, if I can, with the words to a song I love to sing. Of late, it has taken on a whole new and more vivid meaning to me. I trust that somehow, it will bless you as well…..
I LOST IT ALL TO FIND EVERYTHING
I HAD WON, ALL I COULD WIN, THERE WAS NO PLACE, I HADN’T BEEN
BUT MY HEART WAS SO JUST WEAK AND SO POOR
THEN I HEARD HIM GENTLY SAY, WHY DON’T YOU JUST LOSE IT ALL AND FIND MY WAY
SO I GAVE IT UP, AND FOUND IT ALL IN ONE
I LOST IT ALL, TO FIND EVERYTHING,
I DIED A PAUPER, TO BE BORN A KING
WHEN I LEARNED HOW TO LOSE, OH, I FOUND OUT HOW TO WIN
OH, I LOST IT ALL TO FIND EVERYTHING
I WAS SPARED TO SURVIVE, I WAS RACING TO ARRIVE
AND I WALKED WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING IN MY WAY
THEN I WATCHED MY SKEEMS ALL DIE, THEN I REALIZED THAT I
COULD FIND NEW LIFE, BECAUSE THE OLD HAD DIED THAT DAY
Talk to Him, beloved……He’s waiting with a robe and a ring to listen to you. He knows where you’ve been, and what you have done. He has nothing but forgiveness waiting for you. He and the angels of heaven will celebrate that you are finally home.
Immersed in His love,
Lahry
