I never in my wildest imagination dreamed of creating a Psychiatry Page in this website's defence of homeschooling in Sweden (I intended to create a Culture Page) until I started digging into the case histories of children abducted by the state, the most prominent of which for homeschoolers has been that of Domenic Johansson. What I discovered was a horror story involving the collaboration of Social Services, the psychiatric profession, state-sponsored foster care and the judiciary. Psychiatry is not only big business in Sweden but it's also the priesthood of the secular state replacing the position once occupied by the Lutheran Church. Worse, it poses as 'science' when it is little more than quackery. As elsewhere in the world, but perhaps far worse in Sweden, psychiatry has basically become a political tool of state control. Psychiatry is dangerous and a menace to liberty and democracy. Psychiatry has become in the 21st century to freedom what the institutionalised Church was in the Dark Ages.
I speak as a scientist who has for many years had a great deal of interest in psychology and who specialised in Biochemical Neuropharmacology at Oxford University during my final year as a Biochemist. I have studied in depth the works of Sigmund Freud, Joseph Breuer, Carl Jung and other psychologists. My mentor, and the psychologist I most closely identify with, is Dr.Arthur Janov. I therefore have great interest is scientific psychology - however, psychology is not at all the same as psychiatry. Psychiatry is to Psychology what Astrology is to Astronomy. It is little more that witchdoctoring. And in Sweden, supposedly a non-religious secular state, psychiatry has become a facet of state religion. Therefore it is impossible to fully understand Sweden, its attitude to homeschooling and to family life without also coming to grips with this pseudo-science. That is what we aim to do on this page.
