40 Years Wandering
A Time to Finally Come Home
Thinking About You Right Now
Did you know that Yahweh is thinking about you right now? He thinks about you every day and every minute of the day. There isn't a time when He isn't thinking about you, as though you were the only person in existence. David said in the 40th psalm:
"I am poor and needy, but Yahweh is thinking about me right now" (Ps.40:17, NLT).
Are You Searching for Elohim?
I guess you must be thinking about Him too else you wouldn't be reading this. Maybe you're looking for Him. I hope so. If you're looking for comfort in a time of trouble or uncertainty, that is good too, but it isn't enough.
Lasting Comfort is Preceeded by Truth
It's been said that when a society looks for comfort and not emet (truth), that society is finished. The same must be said about individuals looking for Elohim (God) who want comfort but not emet (truth). Real and abiding comfort, the kind that brings real shalom (peace), can only follow on from any discomfort that emet (truth) might bring first.
Confessing Our Own Sins
Emet (truth) comes upon us, and within us, when we start confessing our sins and stop confessing others'. How, in any case, could 'confessing' (actually, 'declaring') the real or imagined sins of others, ever bring anyone comfort or shalom (peace)?
When Elohim Delivers People
Scripture says that those who stand for emet (truth) - the emet (truth) about Elohim (God), the emet (truth) about His salvation in Yah'shua (Jesus), and the emet (truth) about our own sinful condition (not the sinful condition of others) - will be saved:
"Keep a close watch on yourself ... Stay true to what is right, and Elohim (God) will save (deliver) you..." (1 Tim.4:16, NLT).
An Important Day
Today is a monumentally important day for somebody, and possibly several people. It's important because if they will choose right, today will be the day of their salvation, the end of their enslavement, the end of a twilight existence.
The 40 Year Ending
At the end of 40 years, Israel came out from her desert wandering. Today might be your 40th year. If the wandering has been long, and you're looking for comfort, that is good - but you must also look for emet (truth) and be prepared for the possibility of more discomfiture first. The good thing about that is that once the emet (truth) has been faced, and sin dealt with at the cross, endlessly going around in circles can permanently come to an end.
Come Home
I hope that on this the 300th day of the current year in the biblical creation calendar that someone out there will decide to stop wandering and come home spiritually to Yahweh. You must be exhausted, your nerves frayed, and desperately in need of rest. All can be forgiven and made right, love can once more abound. And most importantly of all, the emet (truth) will set you free (Jn.8:32).
