Messianic Evangelical
What Does the Designation Mean?
Over the years we have struggled to find a label that adequately captures our vision and mission which in part accounts for our many name changes. The use of 'Messianic Evangelical' is relatively new but is probably the most accurate one we have to date as well as being the most Messiah-honouring.
It was in the main inspired by a vision of our mission received in 2007 as shown in part in the picture above. In this vision Yahweh told us that in terms of theology and practice we were to steer a mid course between Evangelical Christianity and Two-House Messianic Israelitism. This is what we have been doing for the past three years.
A brother wrote a letter to me yesterday (which I reproduce below) expressing what Yahweh has shown him about the meaning of the term:
"Shalom. Thank you for the priviledge [of becoming a part of your network]. I had looked up the many [nccg.org] articles over 3 or 4 years and took heed of them. It was not till the other day that the opportunity to join presented itself. Strangely it was only after approval to be a member was granted that I was prompted to look up the caption of your site "Messianic Evangelicals" in the dictionary, and, this is what I have come across:
- Messianic >> Leader(s) anointed by God (Yahweh-Elohim)
- Evangelical >> Teaching that proclaims the death and resurrection of Jesus (Yeshua); High regard for biblical authority.
This is holy learning. Thank you very much" (JW, Australia, 22 April 2010).
I am grateful for the insight. If we are not anointed we are nothing and this ministry counts for nothing and we can go home and you can all move on. If the resurrection of Messiah Yah'shua ever ceases to be our chief proclamation, along with the absolute authority of the Bible, you must move on and take us with you!
