An Association of Autonomous Congregations under the Apostolic Leadership of the B'rit Chadashah Assemblies of Yahweh
B. Duties and Privileges
In any relationship there are mutual obligations and privileges. In the relationship between an associate congregation and the Apostolate these are very simple and are described in outline below and in the pages that follow:
1. Obligations of the New Associate Congregation to the Apostolate
- 1. To be admitted, the congregation must have the unanimous approval of the Pastor, Elders and Deacons, and a majority approval of the rest of the adult baptised members in good standing (20 years and above) of the congregation (51% or above). The results of the ballot must be submitted to the Apostolate before membership as an associate congregation will be granted and be signed by three witnesses, one of whom must be an elder or eldress, one a deacon or deconess and one an unordained member;
- 2. The newly admitted congregation shall rename itself (for example) the Mombassa (Kenya) New Covenant Assembly of Yahweh and cease to use its former name (e.g. Mombassa Christian Praise Centre, Mombassa Church of God, Mombassa Messianic Kehilah, etc.);
- 3. Within three years of joining (upon the issue of a certificate by the Apostolate), the associate congregation shall apply for full membership and meet the criteria for said membership after the appropriate ballot has been taken, or the association will be termninated. There is never more than one association tenure per congregation which means that the association status will not be renewed);
- 4. The Pastorate and Eldership shall, as its obligation, expose the congregation to our teachings for their prayerful consideration and discussion, by requiring their members to complete the Bible Course of Instruction, Foundational Teachings of the Bible before the 3 year tenure is complete, and distributing our literature in English and/or their own language for general membership consumption; and
- 5. Upon admission the new congregation shall begin, under the leadership of the Pastorate and Elders, the systematic changeover of their doctrines and practices as detailed by the Apostolate. This will involve sending a written report back to headquarters twice a year at the Pilgrim festivals of Pesach and Sukkot with detailed accounts of what has been done and what is being currently done. Some of these early changes will include, after full instruction of the people:
- 1. Observance of the Creation Calendar;
- 2. Observance of the luni-solar Sabbath;
- 3. Observance of the seven annual festivals and monthly New Moon;
- 4. Observance of the Kashrut dietry laws;
- 5. Observance of the law of financial stewardship (a third of 10% to the ministry, a third of 10% to the poor and a third of 10% for the festivals);
- 6. The wearing of tzitzit by men;
- 7. The wearing of headcoverings by women;
- 8. Cessation of the observance of pagan festivals like Christmas, Easter and Kwanzaa, false Jewish customs like wearing tallit, phylacteries and kippas and observing non-biblical festivals like Rosh haShanana, Purim and Hanukkah and ceasing abolished (fulfilled) ordinances like circumcision;
- 8. Observance Messianic Israel's laws of sexual morality, including the proper New Covenant regulation of polygamy where it is practiced;
- 9. Cessastion and the practice of female circumcision (clitorectomy) where it is practiced;
- 10. Cessastion of all forced or under-age marriages which must be by consent and the parties be of age;
- 11. Cessation of the use of 'unknown tongues';
- 12. Cessation of all kinds of witchcraft, occultism, divination, astrology, ancestor worship, etc.;
- 13. Cessation of the consumption of alcohol and non-medical drugs;
- 14. Cessation of body piercing and tattooing;
- 15. Proper congregational use of the Divine Names in worship - Yahweh (not Jehovah, God, Yahuah, Yehovah, etc.), Yah'shua (not Jesus, Yeshua, Lord, etc.);
2. Obligations of the NCAY Apostolate to the new Associate Congregation
- 1. Weekly sermons by email or in online discussion groups;
- 2. Free access to all materials on the NCCG.ORG website with the right of congregations to freely duplicate and use these provided they do not sell them;
- 3. Counselling by email and/or Skype as time and resourses permit;
- 4. Visiting preachers as time and resourses permit;
- 5. Training of Pastors and Elders at our headquarters as time and resources permit;
- 6. Free or discount rates on printed and audio-visual materials for poor congregations; and
- 7. Free CD-ROM's for congregations with a computer containing the whole NCCG.ORG website
3. Financial Matters and Self-Sufficiency
We are not a bank and will not, as a rule, finance associate congregations, though we have done this before. In these difficult economic times, financing from abroad becomes increasingly difficult if not impossible. All associate and full congregations work on the principle of totally trusting in Yahweh to provide for all the needs of their people. Relationships of financial dependency on a central body may have short-term benefits but if the donor ministry suddenly ceases providing funds this can cause a major catastrophe in the congregation. Many such congregations come to us hoping that we will become a replacement financing structure. This we are not. Indeed, our message to all such congregations is to restructure their financial planning away from dependency from Western or other organisations and towards self-sufficiency, for two reasons:
- Dependency on outside organisations for regular financial provision is not biblical;
- The nevi'im (prophets) have informed us that the wealth of the West will abruptly come to an end in the not too distant future after it has been judged by Yahweh, and that this is imminent;
- Those organisations which do have wealth have usually compromised biblical truth in one way or another, expect acknowledgement of, and conformity to, their apostate teachings, and so their money is tainted and will bring curses and not blessings to the recipient congregations.
Congregations joining NCAY do so with the understanding that financial assistance is unlikely. On our part we assume that they wish to join us because they believe we have the truth and are not coming for economic gain.
Our headquarters receives almost no donations at all from outside bodies and is itself self-supporting and dependent on Yahweh's grace to survive. When donations are received, they are tithed are distributed on a rotational basis to congregations and other projects like orphanages with the greatest needs. There is no expectancy on the part of member congregations for financial aid, and nor should their be, as such is a spiritually corrupting influence on the relationship between the apostles and the member congregations. The relationship between the two is purely of the Ruach (Spirit) with an obligation on all to assist one another as they are able to and as they are led by the Ruach (Spirit) but not by demand or in a spirit of entitelment. For a full statement on our funding policy, please see NCCG Funding Policy.
As part of its program of assisting congregations to become self-sufficienct, the Apostolate supports economic schemes such as aquaponics, permaculture and supplying their own energy through green technologies so that its members are no longer dependent on the state. We have long anticipated a time, which is now on our doorsteps, when congregations separated by distance will be cut off and isolated from each other owing to government restrictions on travel, financial collapse and epidemics that will force self-sufficiency and will no longer be in a position to receive mutual aid. They will need to be self-sufficient to avoid famine and in order to survive. Our policy has always been aimed at making our congregations a prophetic forward-looking people so that they become independent of the world and dependency on others. Dismantling the traditional expectations of poor congregations to be 'taken care of' financially by a 'father' ministry abroad, which amounts ultimately to trusting in the arm-of-flesh, is an essential part, therefore, of our program. Congregations seeking membership with us who do not have this as their goal will not find satisfaction and will ultimately seek not to be a part of us.
