FAQ 403
Finding Jobs & The Creation Calendar
How Should We Approach Employers?
Q. How Can I Keep my job now that I have accepted the truth of the Creation Sabbath?
A. Fundamentally, the Creation Calendar and the Babylonian world system are at odds and the former has only been restored in these last of the latter days because Yahweh is calling His people out of that Babylonian system and to become self-sufficient. Getting exception from work on Creation Sabbaths in most jobs is nigh impossible. There are, however, some professions where it may be possible to negociate exemptions with employers if certaín concessions are made by the employee.
To illustrate the scale of the problem, I have compiled a table from the Creation Calendar on 2023 from my own geographical location. This shows the number of times each regular day of the week falls on a Creation Sabbath/Festival Sabbath or Rosh Chodesh (RC):
- MONDAYS: 9 Sabbaths + 2 Rosh Chodesh's (Total: 11 days/year)
- TUESDAYS: 8 Sabbaths + 1 Rosh Chodesh (Total: 9 days/year)
- WEDNESDAYS: 7 Sabbaths + 2 Rosh Chodesh's (Total: 9 days/year)
- THURSDAYS: 8 Sabbaths + 2 Rosh Chodesh's (Total: 10 days/year)
- FRIDAYS: 7 Sabbaths + 1 Rosh Chodesh (Total: 8 days/week)
This means as an employee, to observe the sabbaths, new moons and festivals, you are going to need to secure around 47 days off per year. In 2023 only about 15 moedim days fell on Roman weekend days. This means you will need just under 7 weeks off per year to observe the moedim (appointments) that fall on Roman weekdays (saturdays and Sundays). Depending which country you live in, the number of mandatory paid work days per year ranges from 1-5 (e.g. Argentina, PR China) to 23-28 days (e.g. Scandinavia, UK, France) - see the Wikipedia map below:
So what should/can you do?
A. If You Convert to Creation Calendar While in a Particular Job
In the majority of situations, your enmployer is not going to be happy about your wanting 47 week-days off a year, whether paid or (more likely) unpaid. In many jobs, having week-days off would be impossible. You can think of many (e.g. teachers, civil servants, those in Monday-Friday 9-5 jobs, etc.). Though I cannot put a percentage figure on it, unless you are in a commercial enterprise that operates 7 days a Roman week (like a shop assistants) and has flexible work hours (likev Walmart), your employer is unlikely to be obliging. It will make a lot of extra work for him re-scheduling you every month. Only if you own your own business do you have any real possibility of scheduling work hours for yourself to suit your newly found biblical lifestyle.
If you are an employee, then these are some of the things I recommend you do if you think there's a possibility of working out an arrangement with your boss:
- 1. Be an examplary worker at all (you need to prove your worth and indispensibility);
- 2. Ask to sit down and talk the matter through with your employer - explain how the calendar works, take a print out of the current year with you (a visual aid speeds up comprehension), and come armed with details of which days you would need off (paid and/or unpaid) for the current year;
- 3. OFFER TO WORK AT WEEKENDS and MOST HOLIDAYS and DO OVERTIME - explain that you are available to work most weekends and public/bank holidays like Christmas if the business needs people to work at those times, and offer to do so at the standard rate of pay. Aside from being a hard and honest worker, this is really all you are left with to offer.
This may not work, of course, if your frequent absence on at least one week day per week will mean a shortage of staff. You will need to know how your place of employment works. Find out if or how your place of employment accommodates people like Moslems (who don't work on Fridays) or Jews (and other Saturday Sabbatarians like Adventists and most Messianics who don't work on Saturdays). If your place of employment is solely a Monday-Friday operation, you probably won't stand much of a chance.
What, then, should you do?
B. If It is Impossible to Continue in Your Present Job
If you need to seek new employment, then you will either need to:
- 1. Find a business, factory, hospital, etc. that 7 days days a week round the clock and learn what the possibilities are; or
- 2. Start your own business.
In the case of #2, if this is a business that will employ several people, this will either entail your employing your own family and/or other 'Creation Calendarists' or those willing to work 'strange' hours. Finding people willing to do that might not be too hard in times of mass unemployment after a collapse or in a recession when people are desperate for work. Then you must decide whether you want your business to operate within - and serving - the Babylonian world system, exclusively or only in part. Of course the ideal, from a Messianic Evangelical perspective, would be to buidl business within an NCAY or Holy Order Community to serve customers in Babylon and/or the community exclusively. There are all sorts of other 'alternative (to the mainstream) communities' outside the globalist system (usually partially or totally off-grid) that can furnish you with business models that already work for them. In the UK, the Woodlander Initiative will give you some ideas to get you thinking at any rate.
Breaking Out of Babylon
Leaving the system altogether is inevitable for the Remnant true believers at some point with the Final Gathering being a key part of our message and work. When you leave, and how, will be between you, your family and Yahweh.
Earning an income to feed and shelter your family is a necessity and an obligation. If you find yourself in a job situation where your employer won't release you (the most likely scanerio) to live Yahweh's calendar lifestyle then you should stay where you are whilst immediately, and simultaneously, starting research work on alternatives. The sooner you are obedient the better, obviously, so you will need to live close to Christ as you work out an 'exit program'. In most cases quitting overnight is impractical and undesirable (especially if your faith is weak). It will depend what country you are in, where in that country, and what the political climate is like (libertarian or authoritarian). If your country is going cash-free then something like the Woodlander Initiative is something you need to consider sooner rather than later. You will need to get help and advice from others already outside the system.
Whatever your situation, major choices have to be made. Getting your children out of state schools and homeschooled is a priority too. Given that homeschooling is illegal in most countries and may eventually become illegal globally, you will need to consider this factor in your job equation along with many others. As I said, Yahweh has reserved restoration of the Creation Calendar for the very last times when believers will have to get out of the world systenm and have to learn to be self-sufficient away from the cities and other globalist centres of control in order to survive. Living the biblical Creation Calendar and finding work to enable you to thus honour Yahweh is part of the Remnant 'package'. It may quite likely mean changing professions, but not necessarily. Communities need all sorts of people, not just market gardeners, farmers and horticulturists - doctors, teachers, engineers, dentists, software engineers, plumbers, carpenters, builders, etc.. Whoever you are, you will have to make major adjustments both to your plans and to your way of living.
Setting up intentional communities is now essential. There has to be an alternative culture to Babylon's mainstream one otherwise the qodeshim (saints, set-apart ones) risk being swallowed up by the system, with their children being the first to succumb. Priorestising their needs is critical for they will be the last generation who will either walk in the liberty of the sons and daughters of Elohim (God) or become swallowed up by the Beast System. There will be no grey zone. That is why this subject is so important.
